@johnsenkenn The corn harvested in April stood through the winter. It was to wet to harvest. We usually don't start planting until May or so. We have to rotate crops so in 2010 we planted ediblr
Been there done that!!! I have pics of my husbands cousins combining on Easter in 2009 near Devils Lake, ND. They had tracks on the combines and the grain cart and tractor! It is unreal. We too finished our 2009 corn harvest in April 2010.
I don't understand you finished your corn harvest in April, is it a winter corn, have it stood there from last year ? And now what in April, do you plant a new season corn to harwest next year. I don't know much about corn, we don't have much of it here in DK.
Very little corn in northwestern Minnesota was combined last fall as the moisture was too high (30%) to economically dry. Then, there was a record fast snow melt this spring and farmers couldn't get it harvested before the ground thawed. They have now been trying to harvest it along with planting at the same time. So, they know what you went through.
I have seen a couple fields here in iowa that were being harvested this spring, but its hard to believe that we have almost all our corn in while others were finishing up last years' crops.
Nice to see you servied survived the winter! How's the quality of your spring harvested corn? Back in 1974 I rented a bottom farm, the former tenant left his crop in one feild, I shelled the corn in April,it was chaffy( low test weight). He bought the corn from me for hog feed!
Like all others, I saw a guy west of Salem planting corn on April 16th and a few others cultivating about a week ago, and although I didnt see anyone finishing last falls harvest, my grandpa tells me stories of picking corn and planting all his land in about a week. Of course he didn't farm much land back then either.
my dad said that there was one year that he combined every month. it is getting hard to finsh corn before snow comes, in 2008 we just got beans done in time and planted the last little bit of wheat in snow.
Hi there, I am from Greece I am also a farmer, I know how it is. we had a really bad winter and we are dealing with the same stuff here, we are also working as contractors and for that reason some of our fields left for now, I also want to say that I love your videos, you show people the real deal and not the IDEAL thing that I saw until now in alot of vides!!! keep up the good job !
we have never had to shell our corn in the spring YET, but we have done it many times for other farmers in our area. We do alot of custom harvesting around here. Hope you get it all done quick with no major issues. I just seen a guy sunday 4-11-10 out no-tilling some corn in!!
All that grain loading on the road I wonder who ruins the roads

Been there! We use a 60 ton snap strap between the cart and combine. Spring harvest not ideal, but happens sometimes.
