@ADMediaEmpire you are so right!! Most people have an extractor hood above the cooker hob to take away the oil and fumes, etc. What do these people cook? I have never in my life seen a microwave mounted above a cooker hob. That must be dangerous too??
@sharkster1969 Actually in the states this is the norm,not the exception. The microwave is designed to be both a microwave and a vent as part of the bottom portion of the micro. There are standards as to how close certain microwaves can be set as far as height to the stove/cooktop +++Bob
@HomeRemodelWorkshop Well thanks so much for the reply Bob!.. I have just seen the result of a bad fire after a cooker hood ignited (fuelled by all the oil in the filter), so I was shocked to see this. However, I will say that when I last visited friends in Melrose, US, I was very impressed by how little oil was used in their cooking, so expect you guys are safer than in many other countries where hot woks and pans are raging with heat and oil.
