They need to stick to singing about Stacy's mom instead of coming out with this Liam wannabe bollocks. Bet he put his sunglasses on and leant over to sing into the mic with his hands behind his back while recording it. What a dickhead
@SoupyGeorge Ahh, Excuse me plz, but Stacy's Mom is hardly the bands true style as it was for the most part a 1 hit wonder. If you can't appreciate the band for what they truely are, then go listen some new age crap punk rap funk BS. :P
@MrAmberRocker You're excused. Stacy's Mom is the only song I've ever heard by them apart from this. Is this the bands true style then? Ripping off great English bands?
@SoupyGeorge It's not so much a rip off as a simple tribute of respect to bands that greatly influenced their style and thinking. I truely hope you can appreciate the difference in paying one's respect and just trying to copy them. FoW is rather famous for such tributes to former bands that highly influenced their own style. Yet they do indeed have a unique style of their own. Their albums "Traffic & Weather" as well as "Out of State Plates" are prime examples. Research Adam Schlesinger . :)
@MrAmberRocker Ok then, thanks for letting me know. I didn't realise that's why they did. It just annoys me when people try too hard to imitate others cos I just think they should be themselves but if you say they're paying tribute then I guess that's a different story
IMHO it's a Pink Floyd tribute. They admit to it plain enough in the lines:
Gather round the gas tower
Don't it kinda look like a bong
I heard it backwards
Hidden in a Pink Floyd song
FOW are well known for various tribute songs to older bands, such as Prom Theme, an obvious tribute to Jeff Lynne & ELO, whom they played tribute to numerous times in their early years on stage. "It Must Be Summer" & "The Senator's Daughter" are other obvious tribute songs that I'll leave for you to discover.
@MrAmberRocker ever heard Jody and Adam's old band, Belltower? Jody was the creative force behind that one (80s and early 90s). Great shoegazer group based in London and New York. Check 'em out.
i have no idea why this never got more attention, it's a great song.

SoupyGeorge you're a tool. Fountains of Wayne mostly just beat Oasis at their own game with this one.

It's similar to the Wonderwall at the beginning.Isn't right way to copy the style from Oasis completely.
PS " An American Band" - please, American bands, do what your nation can do better than others, don't try to sound like brits.
