  • wow hes stunning, your doing the right thing for him very wise, bless him just needs to move to keep stress levels down

  • What a great mover.

  • When I was a kid, a multi-day 4-H show had made the mistake of booking the fairgrounds on the same weekend as holiday fireworks. Whoops. It was pure chaos that night. Horses jumping out of their stalls and running loose, hurting themselves... not a fun night for the kids. Thankfully my horse was literally bomb-proof, and she just watched the other horses going nuts.

  • wooooooooooow oh my Goodness!! That horse is beautiful!!! <3 i want it O_O

  • I've had a lay down on my ponies back and watched the fireworks with him (He actually really likes it). He's fine with that and the giant noisy snowplow and 4 wheelers ect but a snowmobile going by in the next field over or down the road well that's just craziness for pony brains right there. xD Gorges horse! :D <3

  • He is beautiful!

  • 2:39 gorgeous!

  • Has he ever been ridden? I don't know his story so sorry if you said it in another video

  • William is a BEAUTIFUL horse!

  • I remember the year I took my horse (then a yearling) to his very first show at a county fair, where on opening night they had a fireworks show. It was set off like a half mile from the stable o_o It was so nerve-wracking for me, wondering if he'd flip out when they started going off. Luckily he turned out to be the type where as long as they have grain, the world could be ending around them and they wouldn't care. But I still wish they'd move the fireworks a bit further away...

  • This past firework related holiday I spent with my horse, placed some hay on the ground outside and just stood there with him for a few hours. No petting just being present. This seemed to have a calming affect, hay made him lower his head which helps to calm any horse, it also helped to keep his mind occupied on something less scary and my acting relaxed was reassuring that the threat wasn't real.

  • I have a mare that looks just like him :)

  • he's so beutiful

  • what an absolutely stunning horse :) I bet he's a joy to ride ^_^

  • this is my favourite horse on youtube he's soooo pretty

  • Why not try ear plugs? They exist for horses, and here in Canada, are a life saver when frozen snow is sliding off the roof of the indoor arena & the horse is going nuts (with you ON him). Cheers,

  • wow i have a brown horse that i didn't know what breed she is. she is named Apples. but by judging this horse i think she's a hackney too! XD!!

  • He is positively stunning.

  • My friend had her horse in a very expensive livery. I might add a professional jumping yard. One night the owners of this yard held a party and believe it or not set off lots of fireworks just behind the back wall of the stable! Needless to say her mare was badly injured as were some other horses.

The horses would u not have any idea what was going on, what a panic they must have gone through; and no escape, and flight is really the only escape a horse has. Words fail me.

  • @2baSelkie

That was really extremely stupid to do (and basicly animal abuse), I hope your friend sued them.

  • what an amazing animal he has come a long way great horse

  • what an amazing animal

  • The stable I board at closes at nine, but I always stay as late as possible on nights I know there'll be fireworks and give every horse a huge pile of hay. Thankfully most of the horses I take responsibility for go in the pasture at night, and around here there are few fireworks during the day! Even so, I find that a wonderfully distracting pile of hay can work wonders.

  • william is amazing, i love him!! :)) poor thing, my horses dont like fireworks either :/

  • I keep my horse in his paddock when there are going to be fireworks and things, but only because I know he is with 2 old horses who will calm him down and won't encourage him to run around. However if I was worried that he would run a fence then I would keep him in the yard like William in this video.

  • Fireworks!!!! The bane of any animal owner's life.............ban, ban, ban them. I've lost outside cage birds from them, my horse suffers all year round with them. Not just Nov 5th, but birthdays, weddings, new year, bloody anything!!! They are a nightmare....................I blame the Chinese.....they started it all!!!

  • wow wat a beautiful horse!!! i love how he stands and how his ears stand.. ;)

  • I hate fireworks ,Ban Them !

  • hes preetty

  • hes gooooooooooogeous! :D

  • Poor dear, he's gotten himself into a full body sweat! Too sensitive for all the fireworks. Such a pretty boy.

  • Wow gawjus just needs a good grooming!

  • sweet

  • Some times I think you are better off letting a horse run free and do his own thing than keeping him cooped up wear he can't folow his instinct.

Letting a horse go free on bonfire night is probably the best thing to do.

  • Depends on the horse and the environment where you can let him run.

  • @cancarum My horses are out in the field on bonfire night but there are houses behind them and there is always a lot of fireworks but they seem happy enough as long as they can get into the back of the paddock out of the way.

Sometimes though its not a good idea to be out, we had a horse that ran through fences when frightened and got out onto a road so you can see the problem

  • aww haha he's adorable.

  • Aww, chew chew chew :-) bless him

  • He has a lot of character indeed.

  • definitely!

  • wow just look at how proud he is hes such a beautifyl breed your very lucky with him. xx

  • I made my horse (arab mare) bombproof for fireworks. I am now more worried that she will try to eat it or stand on it ... :/ Hope I can film some of it this December as well, great idea :)

  • Would be really very interesting for many horse owners to see an instructional video how you did that.

So, I am looking forward to that :-)

  • I have watched all of your videos of william and I really think you are doing a fantastic job. He seems like a lovely horse and it is great to see him improving. I have a nervous horse too so I fully understand how difficult it can be. With time a patients, which you really have, he will become the most wonderful horse.

  • gorgeous horse :)

  • He walks very funny looking to me; not in a wrong way or so, but like he's leading other horses like a real leader :3

  • he's a beautiful animal

  • what a gorgeous boy he is (;

  • wow, he is an absolutely stunning lad !

  • He definitely is!

  • yes he is!!

  • aw poor guy! my horse does the same thing lol.

  • thats great to hear

i dont have grass in winter aswell grrr

  • I definately agree with panache hackney, when the new year fireworks came, we kept our horses inside, and played Enya on the cd player as loud as it would go!

  • Good music choice :)

We left the lights burning, but fireworks are so intense, you loose it against that noise anyway.

  • William so wants to understand, but what is there to understand when humans come up with such craziness?

How is he doing with the farrier and horse trailer?

  • You know how it is, with intelligent horses..:)

I can do the trimming myself, any farrier nearing his box will still be attacked.

As I have no need to trailer him at the moment, I just "let it be" in this wintertime.

  • oh poor boy

my yard is at the back of houses and over looks the town so they get preety scared of the it aswell i leave the lights on at night when i no theres going to be fireworks so they cant see the flash and i put the radio on

is he a box walker in the stable because my mare is but only in the mornings or at feeding time

does he have grassed turn out?

    hope hes ok now xxx

  • He was OK again and perfectly quiet and eating his hay normally, so no problem there.

I have no grass in the winter.
