I believe you're referring to masking, which is able to be done in programs like Sony Vegas, Pinnacle, and the like. Sadly there is no way you can do it in Windows Movie Maker that I've been able to find (I wish you could though XD).

I have Vegas 8.0 and I'm guessing it's under masking effect. I guess I have to fiddle around with it more to find out, right? Parts like: 0:19 - 0:23 is one but particularly scenes like 0:40 - 0:42. I'm having trouble seeing how you create that on Vegas. Able to answer please? ... thankyou for replying, btw

I believe so, or a combination of the masking effects that Vegas has. Sadly, I only had a trial of Vegas 9.0 and wasn't able to get to masking before the trial was done. Sorry that I can't really help you further in that, but at least you know what it is. ^^
