  • Check out my videos for a funny accent!

  • JUST ONE TIME I WOULD LIKE TO SEE BBC SPEAK OF AMERICA IN A GOOD LIGHT.NOT IN THE A TYPICAL SOCIALIST PROPAGANDA IT SPEWS.SUCH AS WE NIXED CALIFONIA FROM MEXICO.WE WON IT IN A WAR WITH MEXICO.MEXICO STARTED THE WAR.YOU PEOPLE NEED TO GET YOUR STUFF RIGHT.

  • i love hearing words pronounced correctly

  • I would gladly download a car if I could.

  • Hugh Laurie?

  • And all for the low, low price of absolutely no money whatsoever.

  • 7 people are embarrased that they stole/pirated a BBC America DVD

  • This makes me happy to be English. BBC America is great and ad-funded.

John Oliver is awesome. Great British comedian

  • This why I'm happy to be English!

  • OMG! JOHN OLIVER!

  • BRILLIANT.

  • If only it was true that BBC America was free... b/c it not where i live. It cost a good $60 a month... on top of basic fee charges. UNCOOL!

  • Saw this on the beginning of my Doctor Who DVD :D I didn't stop laughing for QUITE a while......

  • As an Aussie, I find this hilarious!!! =D

  • Not all Americans find your accent hilarious...

Because I find the accent hot ;)

  • i love john oliver

  • @SyraeFaileas Don't worry, I will when I end up working on it! Do you know how I'd be able to download clips from Youtube, by the way, or record from my TV as I'm playing the game?

  • Do they know that their name Stands for big black Cock? <.< just wondering...

  • I just decided that I am SO going to use the audio of this in a video of Portal 2 with Wheatley once I beat the game! :)

  • @airbendingavatar1 Ok, definitely link that to me because that sounds AWESOME.

  • I first saw this when watching one of my Doctor Who DVDs - very unexpected but I was laughing throughout the whole thing!

  • JOHN. OLIVER.

  • I LOVE that this is on youtube! one of the best ads I've ever seen :D

  • John Oliver is brilliant as always. BBC FTW!

  • I really don't see why people make such a big fuss about pronunciation. If you can understand each other, then language has done its job.

  • @HaoWenXiang That's about as short-sighted a view of the function of language as one could take.

  • @governmentyard A short sighted view of language would be the assumption that there is anything concrete about language.

  • Leave it to the Brits!

  • 6 people were Puerto Rican shortstops

  • This is definitely John Oliver's voice.

  • Brilliant. Sadly, I expect this video soon to be taken down for copyright infringement...^^

  • Yess.. thats what i like.. dark humour XD and i'm German XD

  • It really is full of win, but alas these sorts of things at the start of dvds give yet another reason to download a copy without anti piracy adds you have to sit through.

  • wow british is so amazing... british girls send me a message

  • Who is doing the voiceover?

  • @iwrotethissong What? Don't recognize the Daily Show's favorite British senior corespondent, John Oliver?

  • @BobAlmightyX Oh dear. I suck.

  • This ad was ripped from a DVD. #Irony

  • I'm furious just thinking about watching this video after purchasing a video from BBCAmerica. Not that I would ever do such a daft thing such as that. Dr. Who? Exactly.

  • They pronounce words correctly? Why can't they say Hyundai right? It's Hyun-deh, not Hi-un-die. At least Americans get it mostly right saying Hyun-day... >.> tossers

  • @JumboCookieCali Really? I've never heard an American pronounce it "Hyun-day", they normally seem to ignore the 'y' altogether and say "hun-day". Seems like we're both wrong on that one. The weirdest for me though has always been the American pronunciation of "futile" - makes it sound like "feudal", which is just plain silly. Anyway, I like this ad; good tongue in cheek humour that pokes fun at both nations.

  • @PaddyTV @JumboCookieCali why are you guys arguing about english pronunciation of a KOREAN word? That's truly silly. Besides, if we're talking aboot pronunciation, Canadians are the only ones who get it right ;)

  • @metheusBound Ah, how I wish I could visit Canada. I believe it to be better than America. At least I hope it is, this place is annoying!

  • @PaddyTV Yes, the ad is very entertaining and I love British humour. Much more thought goes into it than SNL...

  • the US just looks plain dumb next to the UK.

  • I bet that is John Oliver on the voice.

  • AMERICANS DONT STEAL! (...it was the canadians.)

  • did they just assume the thieves are from the USA?

  • @234234234werrrrrrr no this is the intro for "BBC America" DVDs

  • @234234234werrrrrrr

It's from a DVD sold in the USA

  • doesn't matter how creative a piracy warning is, Pirates will still remove it when they pirate the content. All it does it drive up the cost of the DVD for the legal purchaser.

  • recycled gilliam's drawing from monty python, nevertheless, go british humor! :)

  • Brilliant!

  • this is amazing.

  • Kudos for having John Oliver doing the voice over.

  • haha so true, so true.

  • You wouldn't steal a purse. You wouldn't steal a car. You wouldn't murder a police man and steal his hat. You wouldn't shit in the hat and send it to the policeman's grieving wife.

  • I just bought BBC's version of Jane Austen's Emma and this commercial was on it and I absolutely LOVE IT!!!

  • I love British humor, you guys rock :p

  • I Love how the advert also has a little stab at Americans too

"Not only is this an unmissable oppourtunity for you to hear words pronounced correctly"

  • @Jammersis cba to find a link, but I remember reading an article that the American accent is closer to the British accent 300 years ago than the present British accent. Technically, Americans are more British than the British are.

  • @zgrummons LOL what was the american accent like 300 years ago?

Plus, your either british or your not. Stop pretending to be like us.

  • @Scwirul you're*

so much for that perfect english thing huh

  • @Nerdiphied thank god, we have more sense than to give a shit about the spelling of 'your'.

  • @zgrummons you're a fucking moron

  • @iceysan .... I hate to agree with what Zgrummons said because it doesn't seem logical, however, he is actually correct. The British have diverged from the English spoken 300 years ago more than the Americans have.

  • @zgrummons

I think im slightly dumber for having read that...

  • @zgrummons is right. google it.

  • @Jammersis i thought that was a riot...

  • @Jammersis I never honestly noticed that many differences in speech while there are only a few in text I come across such as "favorite" or "color" and a few others here or there. But hey, I can make a killer brittish accent when I want to so I would probably blend in quite well if I were to go over to england which is my favorite western world country to go over in my history classes because I remember we saved their bacon. ;)

I do have a little bit of english in my ancestory =). Mmm bacon...

  • @okjoek1 Yeah, you may have saved our bacon, but you are still a young country. You'll learn your lesson soon enough ;)

  • @Jammersis

    Young and Powerful.

  • @corpsefireNL

Or from a global perspective; Built on countless countries successes and sacrifices, claims all credit for Revolution, boistrous, bullying, and quite frankly a pain in the arse. But what do we know, right?

  • @Jammersis

    wuhds

  • What a brilliant commercial - funny, excellent match of copy & graphics, full of wit. As a Brit, my favorite line is: "When you take a class-ridden society with no ability to address it's emotions and let it simmer for a thousand years you frankly have the perfect recipe for drama." :-)

  • 1:06 - Favorite joke.

And we won the war, so we get to say how they're pronounced. Damn brits don't even know their own game! yeah, and that is John Oliver. Easily. Love that silly bastard.

  • 1:06 - Favorite joke.

And we won the war, so we get to say how they're pronounced. Damn brits don't even know their own game!

  • Let it simmer for a thousand years.

  • I love this commercial so much XD Its so funny

  • thanks for posting this! I just bought my first bbc dvd set (Merlin) and saw it, thought it was freakin' hilarious! why can't american ads be this awesome? :(

  • Who does the voiceover?!

  • @lanearoo AGH I wish I knew, I hope somebody who does can reply!!! I know I know who it is, it's killing me that I can't think of it!!! XP

  • @xsophie109x JOHN OLIVER. From The Daily Show.

  • @lanearoo Thank you!!!!

  • @lanearoo

I think, not sure though, it might be the British guy from The Daily Show.

  • @QuickBlackFoxx

Non-British audiences may know him better as the hilarious Professor Duncan on Community.

  • @Shnishy American here, we pretty much know him as the British guy from The Daily Show.

  • It's hilarious. I just got The Mighty Boosh from Netflix and this was on the DVD. It's a bit of an advertisement mixed with a dash of anti-piracy but it's well executed. I laughed my arse off at it enough to look it up on YouTube. It's much more entertaining and effective than the "Hollywood will shoot a nuclear missile at your house if you copy a movie" campaign that we have in the US.

  • @Yobomo Somewhat like what the IT Crowd did? (Here is where I would post a link to the video but YouTube doesn't like links, so a quick search for "IT Crowd piracy" should do the trick.

  • I never fastforward through this ad... It's so entertaining.
