Either ed norton didn't want to play hulk again or the directers didn't want him to. He's known to be very controlling on set. Like, very controlling. Wouldn't work with such a huge cast of main characters.

@Supremacyy Technically Mark Ruffalo is replacing Ed Norton as Bruce Banner, not really reprising the role as much as taking over the role, but reprising sounds more formal and proper than "take over" so that's probably why he said it like that.

@marvel096 Ed Norton would be awesome but negotiation and creative differences did not fit between Norton and Marvel so the studio had to move on and keep going. It's unfortunate but that's the way the business is. Personally I think Mark Ruffalo will be a worthy successor to Norton, he is a wonderful actor and a great guy. This is not Mark's fault that he was brought on so I think the fans should really show him support and not make him feel bad. :)

I hope they give the story more effort than they did in Captain America. It would be the greatest fail of the century for this to turn out to be nothing more than another superpowered action scene compilation. I have to hand it to the director though, it's going to be a helluva challenge putting these legends together in one story. This could be an absolute masterpiece, or a shameful disgrace.
