I was pointing out to another member that Prince Philip is not in fact a Mountbatten by birth. Unless I'm mistaken he is descended from a more royal family. Hence the "step down" when he gave up his title and surname. I quite like Philip so don't think I'm speaking poorly of him if that's what has you upset.

There may have been a few times when some other clergymen did (read up on British History-it Rocks! :)-in 1953 Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Geoffrey Fisher had the honor of placing Saint Edward's Crown on Her Majesty Royal head. :)
How popular is the Queen over there? One one hand, this brit I met was against the monarchy. Another time, my friends living with these 2 Englishmen wanted to throw a 4th of July party. The English guys did their best to stop it, they said it was disrespectful to the Queen.
