The protesters want the war to end and this is how they do it? By shunning the police and provoking them? That's very hypocritical if you ask me. If you want peace then you need to act in a peaceful manner.
The protestors wanted trouble. They kept pushing at the barriers the police put up. They were taunting the police before the commotion and they continued to do it after the commodtion. The people at the front seem to be enjoying themselves poking at and taunting the police. Kids get in jabs and run off. Are there really any innocents here?
Ah, the classic protesters (who think they're doing something righteous and setting themselves up to be victims) vs. the stiff plain boring follow-the -leader police. But really they ought to line up to be arrested. That would be a bigger statement.

I think what touched all this off was that there was a child among the protesters and the police wanted other protesters to have the child leave. A protest rally not exactly being the place for a minor. After that I guess that either things didn't move fast enough and a bit of chaos ensued.
