Snips and Spedding have new band KING MOB with Glen Matlock, Martin Chambers and Sixteen playing at Carlisle Blues Festival 13th Nov and 229 The Venue, Gt Portland St. Nov 17th
Great to see so many dedicated Sharks fans! My mate Pete (big Andy Fraser fan, later played bass in Fischer Z)and I saw them at the Marquee in Sept 1974. I made a cassette of their sadly unreleased 3rd album and cheekily we played at least 3 unknown Sharks tunes in our teenage band Bean Machine. Snips was top banana frontman - doing the Charleston in a confrontational way to the audience and spinning round on the balls of his feet like a dancer from 'West Side Story'. Spedding was mean, man.
One of my all time favourite bands (both versions). Used to play quite a few of their songs in a cover band back in the late 70's. World Park Junkies, Kung Fu, Sophistication. Chris Spedding got me interested in slide guitar. Wish there was some ilve footage somwhere
Hi royaldeluxe. Lloyd is still playing slide guitar and teaching too. He and another band helped me put on a charity gig for Teenage Cancer Trust on Good Friday. We raised over £4500 for new ubnit at Addenbrookes where my 16 year old Goddaughter is receving treatment for very rare sarcoma. Musicians never fail to amaze me with their generosity and talent.
I listened to Sharks - First Water plus the other albums mentioned below, stoned on 'Mr. Natural' acid, while cruising the back country roads in the summer of 77 :
Stones - Sticky Fingers, Let It Bleed & Exile on Main St.
I still have a signed copy of this album - my brother, Lloyd Watson, supported Sharks and Roxy Music. I then bumped into Snips at a party in Notting Hill - he kept expecting Lloyd to climb in through the windows on the upper floors as he did in Paris!!
Hi Marty - sorry for posting this late. Still checking for some live footage. Nick is in excellent shape. How are you. Need some more live footage on youtube. Jane
ah, what a brilliant band! I saw them at Cleethorpes Winter Gardens and we just danced the whole night! They should have been massive! Still play their albums as it all "fits" wonderfully!
dont be turned off by Killersassist....its a video game my 14 yr old plays so i"m on his youtube account...and my older son DJAPlay is mistaken...I have video of us playing on"BBC "World park junkies" and Doctor Love" from First water but unfortunately nothing with the great keyboardist Nick Judd...sorry....how is Nick, Jane?
Marty...(the drummer that started this group with Andy Fraser!)
My husband was the keyboard player with the band (second version) and played on 'Jab It In Your Eye'. This was a great band (both versions) Snips - what a great voice. This band was so underrated......Anyone out there got footage with Nick playing. Thanks
A really underrated album--though I seem to remember a Rolling Stone rave review. When Free broke up, I was waiting for this one (and Bad Co), Knew Spedding from his earlier work, and yes, Snips wasn't unlike Cocker, wasn't he? Wasn't disappointed.
Lordy; put the rest of this thing on YouTube. This was another Led Zeppelin's little projects (along with Bad Company, et al). There's some -=wonderful= stuff on this album. Snips; the poor man's Cocker.
You Sharks fans might like to know that Snips and Spedding have a new band King Mob here on You Tube.

I saw these guys live in Maidstone in '72. A brilliant and memorable gig. Snakes and Swallowtails is my favourite song of theirs.

The "Supergroup" that never was. Chris Spedding at his best what a shame it didn't happen for them.
