These guys are stupendous, no question, but I believe learning to actually play the violin while doing a piece as bouncy as this would've taken too much time to learn for a movie shoot.

I never got why the audience booed them after the number... they were absolutely fantastic! So vibrant and incredibly talented-- & they look like they're having the time of their lives. The reason they get booed at the end is because it's supposed to be a joke. I don't know if you're familiar with the movie, but this scene is in the context of a flashback, and they're remembering their early careers, and the joke is that they were really campy and exaggerated.
