  • 1:04 - 1:11 has gotta the best part of this, although tis aaalllll goood :D

  • Peppermint green checkered suits + matching hats = epic.

  • i cant tell whether they are actually playing the fiddle as well or not...anyone care to shed some light?

  • @kochos777 This film was actually one of the first to incorporate post-synchronization....so what we're hearing isn't actually them playing.

  • @anibezirdzhyan oh thanks

  • 1:05 - 1:11 = first form of shuffling ever

  • I love the movie singin in the rain. You suck people who dislike this!

  • @dheggo

I'm am so with you on that.

  • 1:05 is just orgasmic

  • You know realize they are the first shufflers in the world.

  • Oh god I am young don in my school's performance of singing in the rain and I have to do this :s would be ok but I can't tap dance!! Xx

  • Happy feet penguin needs to be here

  • i never got why they were booed. i thought they were pretty good...

  • The day I stop calling those dancing movie's fake is when a legit actor or actress can perform this all the way through with no close up shots and in no more than 3 takes. Until this happens all you movies like step up or whatever, you all SUCK!

  • @DemonChild789 If I ever get in the filming industry... well, I'll just say "Challenge Accepted".

  • Holy Crap...

  • 3 cuts Wow! fantastic stuff. Love it.

  • 9 peoplw were probably in the audience!

  • All the songs from this film make me smile. They even make me smile when Im having a bad day!

  • @Steffyyy100 I watch this movie all the time when I'm sick, it always brightens my day!! :)

  • Look what the guys do with the violin! too Good

  • I love the way they are totally playing the violins.

  • Oh, those outfits! Make you go blind in a second - or WANT to!

  • Wait.... were they doing the spongebob before it ever existed?

  • Where can I get me one of the violins with strings?

  • Best part of the movie. Well other than scenes with Debbie in tiny skirts.

  • I want to go to CandyTown.

  • This song was featured in a Weight Wathchers yogurt ad, albeit a newly recorded version. When I first saw SITR five years ago in a film class, I said, "Oh! That tune's from a movie!"

  • I'm just wondering whether they were actually playing the violins because they're not quite in sync, or maybe that's the point of the squealing?

Anyway, great film, and if I was wearing a hat, I'd take it off to them.

  • Notice how long the takes are -- the whole number is only four cuts! What talent... Glee would take a hundred cuts to do something like this.

  • sexy :D

  • You have to have a strong back to be able to pull off the move at 0:35 to 0:40

  • So that's where "LMFAO" got the shuffle from!!

  • My God, can we make everyone in the entertainment industry watch this movie so they can see what real talent is?

  • I don't knkow how the crowd could boo this. It's legit!! haha xD

  • 1:06-1:10 is sooooooo amazing!!!!

  • @aleatha16 The whole bloody thing is amazing..That part's just a bonus! :)

  • Can you get any better than Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor? The two of them were brilliant together...

  • 8 people are not fit as fiddles....

  • Ce sont des personnes avec d'énormes qualités et un talent incroyable comme il ne se fait plus de nos jours !

  • They're not really playing the instruments. They generally don't in these kind of performances. The dancing and choreography is brilliant though.

  • Erry' day I'm shufflin'.

  • This is amazing.

  • clearly 8 people tried this and failed.

  • God talk about DRIPPING with talent.....both of these guys

  • My favourite scene. :) If this were to be remade now, popular actors that can't dance would be cast, and they'd show closeups of their faces, then faraway shots, or feet shots of the tapping.

  • all this effortlessness with such a lovely smile on their face. RIP Gene and Donald. we love you.

  • 8 people are spawns of the unholy god himself

  • Amazing! How they did this?

  • Made me realise how much less talent actors need now to be in a a major film!! The stars of this film were all great singers, great dancers and amazing actors, and after watching something like this, it practically spoils every other modern actor!! :D

  • @andyd1893 Witha few exceptions movies and "actors" are the pits! Always loved this number. What a great movie!!!

  • When I was young I thought that they were actually playing the violins as thet danced. Lol.

I love how this, my favourite song/dance in the whole of Singing in the Rain, is the very first one in the film. :D

  • They are so unbelievably talented!!! *-*

  • This is real talent :)

  • if anyone can do the 1:06 dance move as easily as they can ... i will be amazed! that has always been my favorite part :)

  • CLASSIC <3

  • muyy bonito

  • J'adore!

"Tout le public nous aclamait XD"

    Ce film est génial

  • woah. that was insane

  • 1:03 wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww wonderful

  • @conniffpuki

I second that emotion! One of the many fabulous songs & dance routines from this awesome movie !!!

  • In movies like this to save money on buying tap and to make the long routines easier many of the dances were performed using normal shoes with the taps dubbed in later

  • its so fun and amazingly easy to dance to i love it see it nouw

  • the nine people who disliked this video have no taste. they're probably Twilight fans.

  • @relichider I believe that the government funded Twilight to occupy smart people with rage. :P

  • @relichider - . . .or they may be from Coyoteville, NM. . . or Oatmeal, Neb., or. . .

  • @relichider rude

  • 1:05 HAHAHA and people think "The Jerk" is a new dance thing...

  • Remember that this scene came while Gene Kelly's character (a distinguished silent movie star) was explaining his rise to top - while maintaining his "dignity"! This scene (as the movie) is great in itself, but when you contrast it to what comes before and after: PRICELESS!

  • 6 people must have slipped and hit the dislike button from laughing too hard :D

    impossible not to smile XD

  • They dance. They sing. They act. They play piano. They play violin. All at the same time!

  • @iloveextragum well they don't really play the violin. But they pretend to play the violin. And the rhythm of the shoes doesn't come from their dancing. But still: I agree that this is amazing!

  • @cellobogen100 Sorry, but you're wrong about the shoes. They're wearing tap shoes, so indeed, the rhythm comes from their dancing.

  • @FagosaurusRex I know that they are wearing tap shoes, but in some parts of the movie it is pretty obvious that the sound is much faster than the shoes and sometimes there is even a tapping sound when they aren't moving at all.

Well, I'm not the movie maker, so I can't say it for sure, but I still think that they don't make the sound.

  • @FagosaurusRex I know that they're wearing tap shoes, but the sound is not synchronized with their feet, so I guess they added the sound later, and it is not what we can see in the video.

  • Today the director would cut this into crap, because the actors could not stand more than three steps in a row!

  • 1:04 , love the sound

  • All young people should be forced to watch this and The Jolson Story. They'd realise how crap these days are.

  • best. song. ever.

  • 6 people can't pull off the dance move at 1:04 :D

  • @TheJTEnterprise its probly not just those 6 people who cant pull off the move. i cant do it either.

  • CINEMA CAN'T GET MORE ENTERTAINING THAN THIS!!!

  • they are so amazing

  • OMG! If you know how to see magic eye pictures...cross your eyes while they dance and you can see a third dancer! They're so in sync that it works =)

  • okay... so men must have been waaaay more secure about their sexuality back then to dance that closely together.

  • I remember watching this and at the end they boo them and was like "OMFG. how the HECK can you boo THAT??? That's pure talent and brilliance." haha

  • All done with a smile on their faces. :D

  • these guys have fucking talent

  • This is a joy to watch!!! Thanks for posting

  • amazing but horrid outfits lol! xxx

  • Indeed. Now THAT is real dancing. Just look at what they do after 1:06. I would break every bone in my body and die from a heart attack.

    I love this film!

  • @filmfreak44 that's today's "spongebob"... stolen from singin' in the rain!!

  • I can't help but smile this is just amazing

  • this is the greatest dance of all time! i love gene kelly's face at the end hahaa! (:

  • I agree. 1:05 is freaking awesome. Always been my favorite part in the song.

  • I LOVE the move they do right at like 1:05 .. amazing !

  • Absolutely agree that 1:07 has got to be the most awesome dance move in a routine. Crazy!

  • truly stunning dancing and dancers

  • é muito divertido

  • The princess ou est ce on peut le télécharger? Bisous merci pr cette merveille de video!!!!!

  • mon deiu, c'est francais!

  • :DD This is absolutely amazingg.

  • fantastic!

  • The move at 1:07 is, and always will be, the coolest dance move of all time.

  • @AwesomeJosh127

    I completely agree!!!

I tried to learn that, its REALLY hard

only Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor could do it!

  • they couldnt atully play the violen

  • I'm sure the sound is dubbed. But if I didn't know any better I would have believed they were really playing. They make it look very convincing.

  • I like 1:07

  • what the heck??? This is freaking weird but amazing at the same time!

  • How can 5 people NOT like this? My god...

  • @weirdalforlife who cares. it's there lose. i love Hollywood during this time!!!

  • @weirdalforlife cuz it's french XD

  • I can't imagine this routine being booed anywhere! They were fantastic.

  • Love this...Classic!!! :D

  • i wish i could dance and play my violin that good...

  • @99390alm10 lol me too

  • they're so cute <3333 can't believe they were booed here! haha goodness i love this movie!!!

  • @ApoloExpress - In terms of being booed - what would you expect from yokels from Coyoteville, etc? They're probably just waiting for the naked ladies to come out!

  • @WSenator1 HA!

  • very impressive! love this scene nd how they work their arms and legs

  • @johnhorus1

    could not agree more!!!

  • 1:05 is godly 0____0

  • @johnhorus1 this whole movie is godly show me one actor or actress now days that can do this!!!

  • I guess I would have been the only one in the audience clapping :-/

  • Epic! Haha. They were both so talented and wonderful to watch!

  • i love 1:05

  • @betress1

OMG. thats my favorite part of the whole dance!

  • @betress1 omg i wrote tht comment a year ago...so long!!! :o

  • @betress1 I need to learn how to do that before I die...

  • @warpig34 lol

  • i can play the violion but not that well amasing

  • That is WAY better than all the CGI crap we see in the James Bond movies. I prefere the real thing. Like when jackie Chan does all the stunts. HE DOES THE STUNTS. No CGI, no editing.

  • On the jackie chan comment, watch some tony Jaa, does all his own stunts, no wire work, no cgi, he's incredible.

    Gene kelly is amazing

  • @UltraRobbie What about the part where james bond is surrounded by explosions? That complicates matters.

  • @GoldentuskII Oh of course, with explosions they will likely need camera trickery or CGI or something similar. If that is what you are trying to say.

  • @UltraRobbie and when jakie chan deflects a bullet with his fist.... no CGI its real. :) (said with good intnet)

  • @ProdigyStepper Well... maybe that uses camera trickery or editing Lol ;)

  • AMAZING the dancing is just fab

  • i love that part at 1:05

  • donald o'connor and gene kelly were the best of the best. a classic scene from the best musical of all time!

  • Masters!

  • This is my second favorite song from this classic movie. Thanks for posting it, here.

    :-)

  • It's perfect!

  • 253SA i have been doing dance for about 12 years and i can't even get close to doing that step

  • This is one of my favorite tunes...from my all time favorite movie musical. THANKS for posting it! It never fails to lift my spirits...what a fun song....Gene & Donald were perfect dancing partners. Sheer heaven to watch them in action! :)

  • Magic!!

  • je suis un étudiant de le français, mais je n'aime pas cette version

  • @frenchstudentA Moi aussi. d:

  • The 10 secs from 1:04 to 1:15 are the absolute best. I don't think it can be replicated by any dancer of the modern age.

  • cut out the beginning it's weird i would just have the song

  • This movie made me love old films. All the old actors, especially ones from this movie, were all so talented! They could sing, dance, act, everything! They were the whole package! And they had so much class..

  • Love it, always provoke a smile!

  • 1:06 is just awesome

  • its just the spongebob but i still like how they did it.

  • i'd loved to learn how they do that move at 1:06

  • I got an account just so I could comment on how much I love this.. which is sad. But I love it!

  • Love it, love it, LOVE IT!!!

Oh my god, I wish I could tap dance.

Saw the stage show of Singing in the Rain last night. The cast were fantastic, but nothing comes close to Gene Kelly & Donald O'Connor.

  • Now the remaining question is, can it be done with the performers actually PLAYING the piece live?

These guys are stupendous, no question, but I believe learning to actually play the violin while doing a piece as bouncy as this would've taken too much time to learn for a movie shoot.

    They're still great!

  • that's part of the joke, that they obviously aren't playing them

  • Which joke, may I ask? I'm sure that at the time depicted in this film, they wouldn't have had the sophisticated dubbing equipment available in the 50's to compensate their movement....

  • Now thats entertainment - not the crap thats doing the rounds of the world at this point in time

  • indeed. too bad the majority of people these days are too blind and death to bring this back =\

  • AWESOME

  • Now why would anybody boo at a performance like that? Love both Donald O'Connor and Gene Kelly!

  • half the things that their doing i cant even believe its amazing how their doing this

  • I never got why the audience booed them after the number... they were absolutely fantastic! So vibrant and incredibly talented-- & they look like they're having the time of their lives. That's a great thing about this movie-- Gene Kellly, Donald O'Conner, and young Debbie Reynolds make extremely difficult song & dance routines seem effortless and fun!

  • The reason they get booed at the end is because it's supposed to be a joke. I don't know if you're familiar with the movie, but this scene is in the context of a flashback, and they're remembering their early careers, and the joke is that they were really campy and exaggerated.

  • Gene Kelly was a genius I just love him! he Directed and choreographed this movie!

    BRILLIANT!!!!!!

  • my god, the coreography is amazing!!!

Only these geniuses can pull this off

    :)

  • @angelicdemon74 - Got that right!

  • @angelicdemon74 haha ain't that truth! :) this movie is amazing! now i wanna go start tap again :) hahahaha

  • THAT is dancing!!!!
