its just technique thing. If he wanted to he coiuld still sing in a higher pitch. it has a lot to do with phrasing and how you work you're diaphragm ( or stomach muscles really) Most visual kei singer sing with such a low tone not because thats just how their voice sounds. Its because of how they use it. Thats why I like japanese singers better then most western ones. They don't just sing how they feel, they put effort and technique into it to give it that awesome sound.

@MrWilliewhite Look for BUCK-TICK. It is a rock band from 1983. They still make music. In the 80s they had a weird hairstyle, they were not wearing dresses though. After 1990, their hairstyle became more "normal". If you don't like them, look for ACID. I inform you that they disbanded in 2008 because the vocalist had a disease. Hope I helped.

Orange Range: In my opinion, all the members are quite ugly. But I listen to them for their influential music.

flumpool: The lead singer is attractive, but their music is good. And they are good live (they're almost never off pitch).

@MrWilliewhite what you need to find is a band thats whole artistical expression is pure... there are posers obviously, bt its a crying shame whn people think they do art justice when they want 'just music' and cant see these people as part of the joyous experience as a whole. Its actually pretty shallow, its like when people cant like van halen because of the ridiculous outfits.... they dnt get that they totally dont take themselves seriously, its just all part of the fun. Be a happy person :)

If i was that shallow, I wouldn't even listen to foreign music. What I meant by my comment is an artist or band that can make it without the good looks, in an environment where they're all judged higly according to looks, has to be very very good in music.

I am a fan of some VK bands and honestly I dont care to much for the look. Its only western girls who totaly ignore the fact, that VK is not someking of movement or cultural statement its just the way some artists dress and the founder of VK were influenced by Kiss, David Bowie etc.. I dont see the reason to mystify them that much. Nobody is into KISS just because of their looks. I hope people get that relaxed about VK bands too^^

Visual Kei, at it's core, is VISUAL. Hence the name "Visual" Kei. It feels contradictary to call a band "VK" when they're not visual. And while Kiss/Bowie may have INSPIRED the artists that FOUNDED the VK movement, I would actually tell you that artists like X-Japan and Loudness are actually the ones who started it.
