just want to point out that the schumacher's fastest lap on top gear was the aston martin dbr9 at about 1:03 and that the real time the ultima gtr set was 1:12.6 not 1:09.9
@coltw1911 they done it a second time and got around in 1:09.9 and the aston martin did not go around that fast... an f1 car went around in 59 secs, ... the aston martin dbr9 went round in 1:08.6,.. that shows you dont really have a clue what your on about mate.
Quite correct. They did a 1:12.8 straight off the road, with road suspension setup and Goodyear F1 Fiorano tires. For this lap they tuned the suspension for the track and ran on street legal slicks, but it was still legal and able to drive back to the factory.
All these supercars with ultra blistering speed and handling doesnt effect me at all. I want my VC valiant with my 360ci V8 with it pushing 200rwkw. That'll suit me fine. Although some of these supercars are nice. Most of them can be beaten by my bike.

A track car that you can only use when Ferrari say so and Ferrari's notoriously crap customer service or a car you can use on the road if you like where the people are friendly? The Ferrari bubble burst for me when I could finally afford one. I went to a showroom and they did everything to make me feel uncomfortable apart from ask me to leave. Such a shame because I think the cars are great but after that I'll never buy one.

You can see from the body model. Ultima GTR is far smaller, which surely makes it lighter. FXX, with that big body, is better at top speed. Plus, the track has lots of turns, eases the Ultima, slightly.

There is and there will never be a faster production car than Ultima GTR. Thats because it is a race car, registered for road use. With the 800bhp engine and a six speed box, will even eat up the new veyron SS at a straight line that costs twenty times more. There is no point talking about lap times, because nothing will ever get close, except from cars like caparo T1 and Radical LM that are not practical at all. Now this is a bargain!

@morganman102 Simple, so you could race it with confidence, they're reletively cheap to repair and you don't buy rare Ferraris to actually use anyway, you put them in a garage as a tax free heritage for your children. You could never drive your FXX to a track day or take a girl out in it, I'd take the Ultima any day...
@morganman102 This car is a much better "CAR" than the FXX. Its a better value, street legal, a real race car much like a mclaren, because it is a raw race car. I also think the FXX is quite ugly with that long ass nose anyways. This car gives the owner diversity during the build and you understand your own car a hell of a lot better after completing it. Also, if something breaks on this car, it is fixable for a nominal price because it has an ls engine and a porsche gearbox w/ocrazycomputer
Holy..wow, that is astonishingly fast. And the FXX is only for people with $1B+ that can also afford a GTR, Veyron AND an SSC etc, and wants just another addition to their collection. Nobody will save all their money just to be able to buy an FXX to drive some times a year.
It's easy to make a track-day car go very fast, it just has to be light, powerful, and with a good aero package, it's much more difficult to make one that's actually good. Im not saying the Ultima's bad, just that the genius of Ferrari is to make a fast car and make it look so astounding, sound so fantastic. If you were to be given the choice, you would take the FXX. Everybody would.

Some open wheeled cars, some had slicks (without them knowing, lol), and some are not practical at all for the street. The Ultima should be tested because it is streetable and you can buy one already built so it is a production car.
@roholte1 GTR is the biggest piece of junk that money can buy. You can probably order one of them GTRs directly from China and save a huge amount of money, I mean the build quality is exactly the same lol

FXX looks better, sounds better and is not made out of paper also the engine in the Ultima is an American, i guess they couldn't build one themselves, what it really is, is an ugly Lego car. This video doesn't do it any justice, you have to watch the vid that has the actual time data in it to actually see what the car is doing on the track, don't go by some idiots word in the video, go watch the time data on the course with this car. It actually is 1.09.9, now I wish they would post that on the Top Gear board.

Es gibt ein vorausgegangenen Versuch der mit 12.8 gestoppt wurde. Jetzt plötzlich 9.9!? Aus welchem Grund steht jetzt die Zeit von Schumi nicht mehr auf der Liste? Der Ultima GTR sollte dies mal in Monza, Hockenheim oder Nürburgring gegen den Ferrari FXX unter Beweis stellen. Ich halte das hier für Beschiss aus England. Sorry!

There is and there will never be a faster production car than Ultima GTR. Thats because it is a race car, registered for road use. With the 800bhp engine and a six speed box, will even eat up the new veyron SS at a straight line that costs twenty times more. There is no point talking about lap times, because nothing will ever get close, except from cars like caparo T1 and Radical LM that are not practical at all. Now this is a bargain!

this video sucks the fxx is way more of a car. more money was put into developing it. it looks better, sounds better and is obviously the better choice. if you had unlimited money like fxx owners do why would you take some hand me down ultima as opposed to the ferrari

@morganman102 Simple, so you could race it with confidence, they're reletively cheap to repair and you don't buy rare Ferraris to actually use anyway, you put them in a garage as a tax free heritage for your children. You could never drive your FXX to a track day or take a girl out in it, I'd take the Ultima any day...

@morganman102 This car is a much better "CAR" than the FXX. Its a better value, street legal, a real race car much like a mclaren, because it is a raw race car. I also think the FXX is quite ugly with that long ass nose anyways. This car gives the owner diversity during the build and you understand your own car a hell of a lot better after completing it. Also, if something breaks on this car, it is fixable for a nominal price because it has an ls engine and a porsche gearbox w/ocrazycomputer

Holy..wow, that is astonishingly fast. And the FXX is only for people with $1B+ that can also afford a GTR, Veyron AND an SSC etc, and wants just another addition to their collection. Nobody will save all their money just to be able to buy an FXX to drive some times a year.

It's easy to make a track-day car go very fast, it just has to be light, powerful, and with a good aero package, it's much more difficult to make one that's actually good. Im not saying the Ultima's bad, just that the genius of Ferrari is to make a fast car and make it look so astounding, sound so fantastic. If you were to be given the choice, you would take the FXX. Everybody would.

But I do see the Ferrari people laughing at these other makers for their attempts :D I mean, it´s not even difficult to screw 1500hp from an engine and cut out all extra for the weight, any car manufacturer can do that :D But Ferrari does things the way they should be done ;)

So.......The inferior GTR with a low tech engine and chassis set up is able to hang with the Ferrari at the track, and be driven home for a fraction of the cost?! @MrF1fanatic Amen!! This is what I've been saying for a long time. They test all sorts of cars. Some open wheeled cars, some had slicks (without them knowing, lol), and some are not practical at all for the street. The Ultima should be tested because it is streetable and you can buy one already built so it is a production car.

FXX looks better, sounds better and is not made out of paper also the engine in the Ultima is an American, i guess they couldn't build one themselves, what it really is, is an ugly Lego car. If you do the same and remove carbon fiber from the FXX and replace it with paper or plastic )) and some more weight shedding, now this is a race.

You talk about it being made out of paper shows you know nothing. The ferrari is made out of carbon fiber. The Ultima is Aluminum body. Carbon Fiber is lighter. But don't knock Aluminum Airplanes use it everywhere.

I daresay if Schumacher had done as many practice laps of the track as I'm assuming this guy did, and pushed it as hard as this guy did, the Ferrari may well have beaten the Ultima's time. But in any case, the two cars are clearly comparable on this track.
