  • screaming girls met him at London airport when he went over there in 58

  • I wish someone would post "Such a Night" again. It got yanked.

  • What a performer he was, great stuff

  • I saw Johnny Ray at Little Darlin:s Rock ^ Roll Palace in Orlando,Fl. in the 80s & altho almost tollally deaf, he was still great!

  • Johnnie Ray is one of THE most underrated singers! Crazed, amazing stuff that pre-dated inspirational nutjobs like Elvis, Iggy, Morrissey, and many more. One of those guys mostly only collectors and musicians know about. Too weird for his time, in America at least. Bi-sexual, otherwordly stage presence, hit on Ava Gardner while Sinatra stood outside the greenroom. Yes! There's a decent bio-book out there.

  • @EricD According to his bio, Cry, it was Ava who was a bit too affectionate with Johnnie and may have been sporting some facial bruising from Sinatra the following day!

  • Ray was a trip. He had some odd body movements, tics, and gestures. Seems like he was really into the music. I love this kind of stuff.

  • This performance of Johnnie Ray's is pure, raw Rock & Roll. It's cutting edge. He delivers this performance from his heart and soul. Thank you so much for posting it!!! LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!!

  • Does anyone know why all the videos of his actual performances are not here any longer?

    I loved those!!!!

  • Whoever owns the rights to all of his or any artists work, when they find out you

tube shows the material then they want money!

They are forced to remove such material.

  • The first "outside of the box" singer, Possibly the very first rocker. They call him the evolutionary link between Sinarta and Elvis, I can see that.

  • Thanks silkwood!You're the most.

  • What a voice!

  • "Poor old Johnny Ray / Sounded sad upon the radio / Broke a million hearts in mono / Our mother's cried /Sang along who'd blame them..."

  • I love Johnnie Ray- he had such shtick!

  • Great voice!!!!

  • classic , fab music

  • I read somewhere that it was in the Netherlands of all places! The only place more obscure than that is Denmark, where I hail from!
