1. You never judge a Marine by his ribbons. All of these Marines are 03xx/8152's. They have done more than most people will ever do in their entire lives. For 90% of those in the PSD, this will be their first post.
2. The Marines of Presidential Support do much more than just open the door at the White House. You can look up Yankee White, which will tell you most of the posts within the detail.
3. They guard WHCA and Camp David. The job doesn't just fall on the Secret Service.
cuz all the white house 03xx and 8th and I 03s arent real 03s they don't deploy like grunts down on Lejeune and out in San Diego. they don't get shot at and sure as don't have CARs but are quick as hell to be running there mouths off to the girls down at Adams Morgan about how they're Machine Gunners. My question is, and I didnt hear it mentioned in the video, is that, since they are called sentries, do they actually have anyway to protect the President or other dignitaries should a situation occur or is that solely the responsibility of the Secret Service. This is an interesting video. My brother graduated from the USNA class of 2007, and I remember watching the Marines doing silent drills when I visited. They have so much discipline and such a respect for tradition. I can't help but feel a bit of awe when I see them in even the simplest act of opening a door with absolute perfection. But the marines are not for me,Im color blind and they didnt take me.When they gave me the ishihara color test at the physical, I couldn't see the numbers past the first two.

I see the traffic light colors and have a regular drivers license.Its not really color blind as the term states,its more like a color deficiency.I have problems with hues of colors.

Now THAT probably would be real color-blind (and be probably the rarest). I'm colorblind as well, somethings I can perfectly well, others are the exact same to me.

I actually really liked watching this video. You always see these guys on T.V. but never hear anything about them or what they do or anything about their regimen and roll at the White House. I felt this also had a a bit of humor that kept it interesting.

Considering the part of the Constitution was broken long time ago concerning the Federal Government not allowed to have a standing army, the military is for states only and is to be a voluntary militia. But some politician changed the rules while they were in office, and used the military to hide behind, and now there is no way anyone can follow their bill-of-rights by protesting or anything.
I remember a history story where people used to march on the politicians and tar/feather them, sigh.

This is an interesting video. My brother graduated from the USNA class of 2007, and I remember watching the Marines doing silent drills when I visited. They have so much discipline and such a respect for tradition. I can't help but feel a bit of awe when I see them in even the simplest act of opening a door with absolute perfection. So much attention to detail. It's amazing to me that such a little thing can be so inspiring.

It's a pay grade. The fella with two stripes over crossed rifles, that's a corporal. Same as in the Fleet. The fellas with 3 stripes over crossed rifles, they are Sargeants, same pay as Sargeants in the Fleet.
As far as I know Marines still don't get a uniform allowance. These fine gents don't put on the uniform for money. They do it because they are proud.
As well they should be.

Please name a country that has caused more civilian deaths in the last half century than us.
The internal homicide rate alone is greater in the US than in any civilized country. We have more murders than Kenya, Iran, Pakistan
We killed a million civilians in Iraq.
We killed people in Vietnam, Korea, Lebanon, Panama, Graneda, Indonesia, Cuba, Angola, Bosnia, Haiti, Congo. All countries that NEVER threatened us.
All I'm saying is take the "We are the good guy" rhetoric with a grain of salt

If I recall correctly you weren't so well schooled in economics. On political history of the near genocidal policies of the USA you are right on the mark.
I'd question whether the nations you named actually have proportionally more civilian on civilian, or native on native homicides. But USA is no innocent in that regard.

And yes, the number of citizen on citizen murders in the countries I listed is lower than in the US. These are 3rd world countries. The murder rate in the 2nd most deadly western country (Portugal) is HALF of what it is here.
