  • Then no matter how good Friedman is here (and I've never heard him be anything but good) it was worth listening to and posting... because remembering what dumb asses people like Donohue are is vital... all we hold dear hangs in the balance... really

  • @wbaranful I have a feeling all you hold dear died with Adolf Hitler in May of 1945 with the fall of the Third Reich.

  • If Donahue had had any idea that Friedman was so articulate and persuasive, he'd never have had him on.

  • Greed? Is Phil confusing "profits" with greed? It sounds so! Profit is good. If it weren't, why would the government want to get their greedy hands on more than their fair share of it from our people?

  • I am.

  • Obviously Phil just didn't get it. But I have to give him credit for going one on one against someone like Friedman. Today's lib talk show host would never think about putting themselves in that situation.

  • This is so clear! "Central Planning" is, by definition, the FORCING or controlling that which cannot really be controlled. The setting of values (monetary + otherwise) upon what one might call "nature." Gov't-set "values" are arrived at via "committee" and are therefore pretty much arbitrary. This, of course, is entirely artificial. Free enterprise is basically "economic mother nature." Trying to use artificial means to DOCTOR or control it, will ultimately FAIL. Result: EMPTY SHELVES!!

  • One word -- OWNED. Just plain O-W-N-E-D.

Phil's BEST gotcha question SLASHED to bits FOREVER, in 150 SECOND flat!!!

  • Government in history has never created prosperity, nor create not even policies that helped create employment in private sector economy.

  • america was built on slavery and indentured servitude, not freetrade. it's been sustained by fake wars proping up the industrial complex, not capitalism. the masses have escaped grinding poverty only through the aid of socialist reforms like welfare, healthcare, labour unions and free education to give their children half-a-chance to escape their wretched condition.

take those things away and you'll see the same living conditions for the poor as we did under fuedalism.

  • @eleutheromaniac Hah hah hah!! You libs are hilarious!

  • @smitty195 only idiots like you think everyone is 'lib' or 'conservative'. free-thinking individuals don't place themselves in boxes like that.

i've been called conservative by liberals, atheist by christians, christian by atheists...the funny thing is all you people are exactly alike: just simple-minded idiots who don't think for themselves, and jump to conclusions about others

you actually gonna refute any of the points i made or are you just gonna crawl back into your group-think cave?

  • @eleutheromaniac I'm going to crawl back into my world of reality, and I will not address any of your whacko points. I wonder why you've been called so many things by so many different people???

  • @eleutheromaniac By the way, you can't fool me. You have "Obama voter" written all over your post. Stop hiding and just admit who you are.

  • @smitty195 yup, just like i thought. all bluster and bluff. can't even conjure up a single salient point to defend your irrational belief system.

and, btw, i do not live in the rotting sewer formerly known as america, but if i did i would be voting for ron paul, because your bill of rights and constitution is about the only thing america ever got right, and paul is the only politician you have who's defending them.

  • @eleutheromaniac Ah, a Ron Paul robot--that's worse than an Obama supporter (I think). I won't refute and/or debate you because it would be pointless--you will disagree with everything I say, and you will not change your mind. Therefore, debating is pointless. What you need to do is look into Ron Paul a bit more. His national security stance is frightening and dangerous--the guy is a lunatic. Watch the last debate and listen to what he said!

  • @smitty195 yes, i am aware of ron paul's foreign policy. treat others as you'd like to be treated?

    what a moron!

maybe if we stop killing them and building military bases in their countries they won't hate us so much anymore?

    fucking insane!

adopt the same isolationist policy that america had for most of its history before endless foreign wars put it trillions of dollars in debt?

where did this crazy mofo come from! the moon?!

  • @eleutheromaniac

Who the hell are you attacking?

  • @eleutheromaniac The U.S. Department of Defense didn't think it was such an absurd notion. Since 2004 the DOD has funded the University of Chicago’s Project on Security and Terrorism (CPOST). Robert A. Pape heads the project. You can go to their website cpost.uchicago[dot]edu/ or you can search Robert A. Pape "Dying to Win" right here on YouTube and watch his full presentation. Also look up Admiral Gary Roughead and Offshore Balancing, it's Pape's solution to occupation.

  • @smitty195 There is no such thing as a Ron Paul robot. Only an educated person against impressionable children such as yourself. Whom do you support Flip Flop Romney? Fanny May and Freddy Mac Newt? Bachman sounds more in the corner where you demagogue. Ron Paul is for the educated voter sadly we cannot count you among the ranks. You represent the pathetic voter registering stimulus through cheep medicine shows and fear propaganda, rather than fact.

  • @4295eye No such thing? YouTube does not allow me to post links to other YouTube videos (or if they do allow it, I don't know how to make it work). Go to the YouTube search box and type in the following: "Talking with a Ron Paul supporter". Watch the first video, and then 2 and 3. Yup--this is how we view you people.

  • @smitty195 i searched for what you said. I thought it would be an interview with a real Ron Paul supporter who acts stupid and I would come back say "fair enough" to you. However that's just a stupid cartoon and your point counts to nothing.

  • @smitty195 An animated video thats all you have? Sadly this is where you get your information. You are exactly what I predicted, a child who cannot comprehend argument or facts just votes for the shill who sells the better lie. With ppl like you I see how Germany democratically voted in the national socialists. Whats a noobing trool like you doing on a milton freedman video? Go back to spunge bob, In the words of Friedman Lies are like air mattress comfortable till deflated by truth. Pop bye bye

  • @4295eye Nope, that's not all I have. But it's all I want to show you, because that's how crazy you Ronbots are. It doesn't matter--he has ZERO chance of getting the nomination anyway, so that's cool with me. BTW, it's "sponge" not "spunge".

  • Dr Friedman is simply brilliant!

  • Well said...

  • My Lord logtype, you need to chill out. I can see the big arteries in your neck sticking out through the enternet !!!!!! Get a good nights sleep, you'll feel better !!!

  • The truth is Ayn Rand was a moron who thought she could survive on her own genius but when cancer threatened to wipe out the little bit of wealth she managed to put away for her old age she changed her name and applied for welfare benefits. The queen of the Libertarians, a stupid bitch preaching to the ignorant. She had a modicum of success on her own but like other so called self made successes, when she failed and she turned to the state to keep her ass off the street.

  • @logtype47 Oh look, you've proved that free markets are flawed by tearing down the most personally, intellectually, and morally flawed "Libertarian" icon. Did you learn your rhetoric at some fine Liberal Arts institution?

  • @worldofdraculas Ah yes, my liberal arts background. Very good. You're opposed to liberal arts, right? Perhaps conservative arts is more to your liking.

  • @logtype47: Yeah, the "conservative arts" It's called gaining a skill where you can be valuable in the marketplace instead of enrolling in some bullshit "liberal arts" program and graduating with some worthless degree and a hundred fucking grand in debt. BWAHAHA!!!

  • @tomthefunky Yeah, conservative arts. Maybe next time I'll send someone like yourself to trade tech in kindergarden and save money sending you to public school through 12th grade, because who needs reading, writing, and arithmetic, you'll simply learn how to fit pipes together.

  • @logtype47: That's EXACTLY what I believe we need. We shouldn't teach people how to read or write, we should only teach them how to pipe-fit. Man, you figured us conservatives out. The Democrats new slogan should be: REPUBLICANS ONLY CARE ABOUT TEACHING PEOPLE HOW TO PIPE-FIT!!

  • @tomthefunky ...and did i also fork over my hard earned tax dollars to teach you how to play that useless guitar through one of those socialized public school arts programs?

  • @logtype47 No, you didn't. I learned how to play guitar and entertain people with no help from anyone, you stupid fucking idiot.

  • @tomthefunky yeah, just like that "conservative arts" degree that you got with no help from anyone. what a rugged little individual you are.

  • @logtype47: Yeah, that pretty much sums me up. Thanks!

  • @logtype47: You are quite simply a buffoon. You wouldn't know history, government, politics, or economics, if it punched you in the face. You are a kitten in the middle of the autobahn, motherfucker.

  • @tomthefunky btw. my wife and i are having dinner tomorrow evening. feel free to show us your appreciation by coming by and banging on that guitar for our entertainment. i'll leave the light on.

  • @logtype47: Your comment is retarded because the owner of that restaurant decides if he wants to hire me for the night, not you. However, as a guitarist, I'm probably the last guy you want around your wife. I absolutely agree you should leave a light on. Especially if she's a liberal.

  • indeed tom the funky fiddler. my liberal wife would take your public school issued insturment and molest you with it.

  • @tomthefunky oh no, my dear man - no restaurants. you're coming over to play music in our livingroom to show you appreciation for all the taxes we forked over to fund your public school music program. you know - the socialist one.

  • @logtype47: That's exactly what I''m doing. I''m coming over to your house this weekend and I'm going to produce a show entitled "Let's All Hate America Together". The star of the show will be Joan Baez. We all know how exciting an entertainer she is, right? The next two hours will be devoted to Pete Seeger. Get your dancing shoes on!!!

  • @tomthefunky very good. and i'll invoke the spirit of bob marley to rise out the grave and beat the shit of you with a rusty dreadlock, you free market fiddler. what half-hearted dupe you are. if given they chance the free market would swallow up your marginal ass and squeeze you out the other end.

  • @tomthefunky lets see if that fiddle of yours can pay for some free market health insurance or maybe a retirement plan.

  • @logtype47 its your leftist friends that are making heatlh care expensive by driving up cost with threats of $8 thousand dollar dedectible payments* ( *required). anyone can walk in any emergency room and get help - for colds and flu get up and make some soup - start helping yourself for a change stop expecting the OBAMA baby sitting machine to wipe your ass off - get to work get a job get rid of obama and watch how much better things will turn out - its your life NOT MINE - git-r-done .

  • @logtype47 While you're at it maybe you all can watch the sunset together while the band plays. You know, the same sun that the government graciously provides us with it's public lunar subsidy program!

  • @worldofdraculas you slack minded imbecile. liberal arts has nothing to do with being liberal.

  • phil donahue is a legend. get bent.

  • All that's fine and good, but if there is known fraudulent behavior and manipulation of the market, we need to hunt them down and put them away. Otherwise, this system will indeed collapse. I'm all for free markets if they are free. I'm all for capitalism so long as it adheres to some sense of law that IS NOT in their own best interest. These are problems we face today. I don't when this interview was recorded. Anyone?

  • Milton Friedman was one of the clearest and rational thinkers of our time. He predicted all you are seeing today with the failure of the keynesian economic model that has reduced Economic Freedom and so, our prosperity.

The simple fact is, Economic Freedom and Prosperity are tightly linked, and as one goes, the other soon follows. This is a truth that will remain no matter the OWS fools, their Political tools or talking heads rail against it. Greater Liberty and Freedom = Greater Prosperity.

  • @Bravo21 Thanks, I could not have said it better!!!

  • Milton makes Phil look like the child he is.

  • Ron Paul may not speak as eloquently but his ideas are certainly in lock step with Milton's.

  • @mojoeshaw That's because he is also a learned man.

  • @mojoeshaw

Actually Friedman isn't sophisticated at all.

The more intelligent a person is the less sophistication they use.

"Sophism in the modern definition is a specious argument used for deceiving someone" - Wiki

The man who obfuscates his logical processes has stagnant intellect.

  • @Romansteel13 Please re-read my statement. I said Friedman spoke more eloquently than Ron Paul and that's not to discredit Ron Paul. Just an observation. Sheesh. What's with the paragraph response to my one sentence statement?

  • @mojoeshaw

"I said Friedman spoke more eloquently than Ron Paul"

    That's what i'm commenting on.

Friedman isn't eloquent at all. Nor does he pretend to be.

It's obvious you are using words, you don't fully understand.

Friedman is a simple economist using simple words.

Which is why he is great.

He transcribes complex and esoteric ideas for the average dummie.

  • @Romansteel13 And from all of the flexing of your vocabulary, I'd ascertain you're an asshole. Geez man. What was the friggin' point of even responding to my original post? It's an opinion and not up for debate. Amazing what some people will do to make themselves sound smarter.

  • @mojoeshaw

Like the naive student you are, you completely missed my point.

Socrates said that no one is smart, we are all ignorant.

I fully accept to the fact that I know nothing. Never claimed to be smart or an expert on anything.

This is the essence of pure intellect.

Those who claim to be smart, such as yourself by assuming Friedman is eloquent.

    Only proves me right.

  • @mojoeshaw

"The greatest way to live with honor in this world is to be what we pretend to be." -Socrates

Instead of pretending to be smart, stop acting arrogant and pick up a differential calculus book and start learning and shut up.

  • @Romansteel13 good point.

  • @Romansteel13 You're an idiot. I guess that means all intelligent humans act like barbaric cave men...

  • @forevercold88

    "You're an idiot."

I readily accept that I am an idiot.

"The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool."

Learn your Shakespeare kid, I was young once like you. Full of bluster and arrogance.

I thought I knew everything, when in reality I knew nothing.

  • @forevercold88

You just got mentally fucked, kid.

  • I have not found an individual yet who could argue effectively with Milton Friedman.

  • I challenge anyone to prove him wrong.

  • wow, I used to see Phil Donahue as a kid, before I knew there was such a thing as a Useful Idiot Liberal Douche.....

  • @joejohnson043 I used to watch as a kid as well. I first saw Ayn Rand on his show as well, before seeing her meet with Reagan. It was then I began to actually read their writings/opinions. They are why I am a Libertarian to this day. I do find the contrast of yesteryear's daytime tv vs the Springer generation disturbing. Should we thank the DOE?

  • Free markets...private charity...individual liberty...individual responsibility...severely limited government...that's the formula for a free society.

  • This is enough compassion among INDIVIDUALS in a capitalistic society to do that which is needed to take care of most of those who truly are unfortunate, not just stupid in their choices.

  • I don't believe in ordinary people living like capitalism allows. It's too much work for us, and it isn't natural for us with our ability hues. It makes us compete on levels that are insane. I'm not sure it nurtures the brightest either, for laws of inheritance prevent that from happening. I don't want the house or the car. I want to be left alone.

  • they chose you guys like computers. you might have thought that you betrayed, but you help them. It's the same over here with our agents. I've noticed this since i became buddha. I just wanted to hurt everyone. I'm mad ,and you didn't care then. You just wanted to use me, so I got you.

  • For those wondering, if you watched the entire interview, you'd know that donohue was playing devil's advocate.

  • @Ashandorath I saw the entire interview and you are correct. But it is also true that Donohue continued to be a left wing liberal to this day.

  • @jscottupton

donohue didn't ask the question as a devil's advocate; he asked the question because that is the job as the host of an interview.

  • @ignbtd Damn straight.

  • So refreshing to hear this in times like these.

  • @mikerowphone ... southern blacks slaves got cloths, food and shelter also. Slavery is the requirement to serve others.

  • Socialism for the rich and capitalism for the poor. I have to abide by the free market principles while big corp can make risky investments, then get a bail out when those investments turn bad. Give me a fuckin break.

  • Progressives (socialists) do NOT believe in the American people. They only believe that the collective efforts and central planning of the government can cure society's ills. They believe the government can secure a utopia that will NEVER be realised. Friedman along with other free market economists believe in pure capitalism. Pure capitalism is NOT croney capitalism or corporatism. True capitalists do not offer a utopia, just a better life under economic and social liberty.

  • @spanieaj

no, they don't. They use these so-called "socialist" agendas to gain power, and to lord over others under the promises of free things for everyone. Offer them to set up a local government in the exact society that they demand, but in doing so make them sign that they will not nor even seek any job or position in it besides just being a citizen of it, and then what what they do and say.

  • Was there ever a man with such rhetoric habilities?

  • The entire success of American/European Capitalism never should have happened. If it wasn't for slavery something much more humanistic and possibly socialistic would have taken place and perhaps we even would be at a point where enough people's basic needs were met that we could develop such frivolous pleasures as the luxuries you listed.

  • What is wrong with giving up selfish ego-nature for the greater good anyway? Maybe you should listen to Jesus the Christ, the Buddha, etc, rather than Milton Fried-brain. As to the failure of past communist/socialist states, like Russia and China, I can only say I would hope Americans with their sense of freedom's value would do it better. Not to mention the modern technologies available today that would aid in a proper socialist infrastructure superior to an anti-humanist beuraucracy.

  • Fact: Capitalism is institutional slavery ...

  • that sounds more like opinion then fact. Facts are more like Malcolm X is black because he is black no opinion in that at all. You are stating pure opinion.

  • The man was a genius. And still is.

  • One of the most devastating philosophies to be leveled at humanity. Milton Friedman may as well be antichrist. He talks about how capitalism improves the lives of ordinary people in a system where if you graphed the ownership of capital and property a single percentage owns almost everything. What a farce and the American INDEBTED people are made to look like proof in practice and they nod and say, "yea I do have an ipod and a car, He's on to something" The american people are a minority.

  • @outspiral So what is your alternative to Capitalism? Do you know that more than 50 million people died of hunger under Mao Zedong? And that millions also died under Lenin and Stalin?

Is there anything wrong with investing your money in productive capital that provides jobs for poor people?

If a person opens up a business and provides jobs to workers, you will complain and label him as evil?

These billionaires provide millions of jobs. How about you? How do you help the poor?

  • @juicyappleish

There is none, if you go communism one must give up their free will for the greater good or be shot as dissidence is not allowed in a Marxist state. By far Capitalism keeps intact free will, and what people do with their money is their own choice. Modern Billionaires had to start somewhere. Socialism is nothing more then a dream that doesn't take into account the humanity true nature of taking care of ones self over another.

  • @avdquick Free Will doesn't exist period. Capitalism certainly doesn't magically grant it either. The fact of the matter is you have been conditioned to want certain things and feel like they are your choices. Thus you are a slave to "captains of industry" who provide both your desire and the object of the desire and make you pay them for it.

  • @outspiral

Ok lets play that game, if that were true then there would be no desire, no need for anything on this planet. The fact is desire, free will, needs and want's shape this world. With your thought we would still be in the stone ages because the lack of free will or choices for that matter for a better life would stipulate why change things as they are. Then again, why should I be talking to someone who is afraid of the 'Big Business boogeyman' that commies preach.

  • @juicyappleish ... if the wealth was disturbed no one would have to slave for NO ONE !!!

  • @mba2ceo "disturbed"?????? I guess thats a typo for distributed. Why don't you sell you computer in front of you and distribute the money to poor Africans? They need it more than you do.

  • @juicyappleish ... that is why the GOVT needs to do it since NO one will do it willingly. THAT is my whole pt. Some good needs to be done by GOVT because humanity does NOT do the right thing.

  • @mba2ceo And government is not run by humanity?

  • @mba2ceo Where does government get the moral authority to determine what is right? The same government can compel you to pay you taxes can compel you to kill your fellow citizens. Government MUST have restraints or else you end up with Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. Governments have a greater tendency towards totalitarianism than individuals have to do "wrong." Besides, government being made up of people, what makes you certain THEY won't do wrong? Hmmmm?

  • @gdbalck ... the PPL that elect the GOVT do. Society determines morality. It is the responsibility of the PPL to formulate the appropriate GOVT.

  • @mba2ceo The people formulated Nazi Germany. Think a bit harder.

  • @gdbalck ... NO they did NOT !!! It was by fascists industrialists. U need to educate yourself. The same thing that is happening in USA now.

  • @mba2ceo The German people elected Hitler. Some resisted, but most went along with Hitler's policies till it was too late. It appears you are the one in need of a history lesson. At least spell out words....

  • @gdbalck ... U R ignorant and stupid ... its a deadly combination. I cannot educate the stupid. Must be a capitalist public school education. Bloodsuckers thrive on manipulation of the stupid.

  • @mba2ceo Oh yes, the fall back position of the intellectually lazy, personal attacks. Check-mate.

Congratulations, you are a victim of that which you accuse me of.

  • @gdbalck ... I call a spade a spade ... your inability to comprehend is NOT my limitation. I cannot teach quantum mechanics to someone that does NOT understand algebra. Electing Hitler is as stupid as saying USA elected SHRUB or IRAQ elected Saddam or Russia elected Stalin. U R intellectually deprived. Slavery of the mind is the greatest form of oppression for the victim if unaware. USA will decline due to stupidity and arrogance. USA pawned by China. I said it 10 years ... I was right then.

  • Comment removed

  • @mba2ceo Please stop, I can't stop laughing! You're a caricature... Too funny.

Never mind the points at hand, just level personal attacks based on what? I wonder, when you were calling a spade a spade, were you looking in the mirror? I regret ever trying to reason with you, reason is not in your vocabulary. Have a nice life and may you never endure the tyranny you seek for the rest of us.

  • @gdbalck Please read Frederic Bastiat's "The Law" to get a better understanding of the issue at hand. Written 150 years, nothing comes close to better illustrating the moral and practical superiority of Liberty. You can find it in audio format for free, the entire book, if you google it. Are you willing to have your world view challenged? Then read it. It will open up your eyes.

  • @juicyappleish Or how about this for a perspective. The amount of wealth horded by your beloved billionaires and trillionaires, who really don't create as many jobs as you have been led to believe, could provide just about everyone with the capital to create some kind of enterprise for themselves and their community.

  • @outspiral First of all, you don't have a right to steal someone else's money.

Second, what makes you think those capital will make more jobs if it's in the hands of poor people instead?

Third, why did you buy that expensive computer in front of you instead of giving the money to "poor" people? Walk the walk.

  • @juicyappleish It's not stealing if they never had a rightful claim to it. No one owns the world, her fruits belong to everyone.

Yea because me pauperizing myself instead of buying this computer is totally equivalent to a billionaire giving up 99% of their wealth. They would still be left with more than I would have.

  • @outspiral Well, you are proof of the fact that socialists only want to share if someone else will do it. You computer will help alot of Africans. Why don't you do it to set an example?

  • @juicyappleish Because you need my help as much as they do right now. If I hadn't purchased a computer 8 years ago, I might not have reached you.

  • @outspiral hahaha. Actually, most of the billionaires' wealth are in the form of factories.

Those factories give jobs to people like you. If they sell their factories, as you suggest,

where would you get your job?

  • @juicyappleish By looking to the needy. I would find my work in aiding them in the struggle. Producing toys for capitalists in a factory that people are programmed to believe they need through television advertising and glamour is hardly where I seek to find work.

  • @outspiral And where would your salary come from by looking to the needy?

  • @juicyappleish Salary? My Salary is love and shared kindnesses. If we need food, we will look to the earth and with our hands we will get her to yield fruit. We don't need your money or your consumption. Just a little love for one another. A simple life is not so bad. It's when you try to have both that you fail (Russia and China and other failed communist states). The bible said why they failed. They tried to have Mammon and God in the same basket.

  • @outspiral Man you are really so naive.

The free-market capitalism has lifted millions out of poverty. It has given ordinary people the luxuries that once were only available to the rich. Indoor plumbing, antibiotics, television, computers, ipods, high quality clothes, etc. Hundreds of years ago, these goods were only available to the rich. Television and computers were not even available to the richest kings. Now, the ordinary person can have them. Thanks to the efficiency of Capitalism

  • They are still only available to the rich. You are the one who is naive. It must be nice to live in a United States where slavery never happened and capitalism is what lifted you out of the dirt instead. I would say nice...and a bit delusional.

  • Comment removed

  • @juicyappleish first of all, your definition of "ordinary person" is woefully naive and American-centric.

  • @juicyappleish "Thanks to the efficiency of capitalism" more like of being only 3-5 generations away from the world's most brutally efficient slavery trade. You might have said.

  • @juicyappleish I'm just the vessel for an opportunity that you won't take, but nevertheless you have been given a chance through me to see the error of your ways. You worship Mammon and the bible says it correctly on this topic. It's YHWH or mammon. You will love one and hate the other, or hate one and love the other. You can not love both. Greed And Selfishness are forces of EVIL.

  • His sole focus had been to develop a safe and effective vaccine as rapidly as possible, with no interest in personal profit. When he was asked in a televised interview who owned the patent to the vaccine, Salk replied: "There is no patent. Could you patent the sun?"

  • Friedmans cool because he's right. He's right because facts support his claims. His claims are based on verification. Any deviation from this formula is deliberate opinion. Opinions are irrelevant when the sum has been determined. You done smokin' that joint?

  • I am VERY conservative but can't stand Palin. When asked why I am usually hard pressed to find a single thing she stands for that I oppose, I just don't like her style. Watching this video made it very clear to me what I want. I want a president who can deliver the message like this guy could. The best we ever did in that regard was Reagan. No fumbling or platitudes, just unrelenting logic that speaks to the issue. obama can't even do it with a telepromtor and a week to write it.

  • @bohs1984 Your post goes into my hall of fame. Very well put... and exactly correct. Palin embodies all the correct positions, in a very unelectable package... albeit an attractive one, just not an electable one.

  • that is one smart man!!

  • Not only has Phil Donohue always been a moonbat, he has always been a moron.

He and the progeny of mindless talk show hosts collectively dumbed-down this country. I cannot believe that people ever watched him, Oprah and the other buffoonish turds on the tube.

Incontrovertible truth spoken directly to a Marxist moron!Thank you, Milton Friedman.

  • He got served.

  • Abandon your positions of "left" & "right"and "conservative" & "liberal" that were created for you by the Hegelian rulers of this world. They have set you against each other so you can endlessly argue with each other rather than recognize that THEY are screwing you both. Corporations rule nations, and the synagogue of satan rules corporations. Just as they own both the Republicans & the Democrats, they also own ALL of your money, and when they choose, they will take it ALL away from you.

  • Funny Friedman mentions Henry Ford.

He was the first to pay workers $5.00 a day and to institute a 40 hour work week. He even offered workers profit sharing.

So Donahue was asking thoughtful questions about some issues you right-wing jack-asses can't even begin to understand..,lol..,

  • I'm a Tea Party Conservative but must agree with dennis345. I miss this bygone era when people like Donahue were Liberal in the true sense of the word, and debated ideological opposites in an open forum on the ideas. Today's Prog Apparatchiks are far more dangerous than the decent and gracious Donahue and his ilk.

  • what a bald little faggot, this man was living in a fantasy land

  • What a succinct demolition of the idealogical fantasyland the Left lives in. Donohue looks truly mystified--and dumbfounded--at this kind of plain-spoken reality.

  • @hookalakah

Nicely put. Milton Friedman just schooled me too.

  • @hookalakah profound donahue destruction

  • Why is it when he talks he reminds me of Hyman Roth? =)

  • I would say Greed is the pursuit of your own interests @ the cost of others. This is the role of Government to stifle the harm of others. Capitalism & socialism can be corrupted by greed. Capitalism provides the incentive for brilliance & hard work, but socialism stifles it by decreasing the advantage of those qualities & encouraging the opposite.

  • Wow!!! That's what I called being schooled!! Donohue just sat there and said nothing because he couldn't say anything.

  • We do not have enough Milton Friedman's in this world. We have a bunch of chirping birds regurgitating the rhetoric of their leaders, never stopping to realize that they are following a "pied piper" spouting flawed logic straight into the sea of their own demise. In other words....the blind leading the blind.

  • @DLMaston1

when you think hard enough you will come to agree more and more with Friedman!

  • Thumbs up for your video's description.

  • What ever the case for capitalism for against I don't wish to debate on, but his ditty for 0:48 to 1:48 would find no consensus from those who actually research and R&D.

I can tell you right now GPS wasn't touched with a barge pole in 90's no business thought 24 satellites each with the time on that could be used to calculate coordinates had ANY use.

Now look at the whole Navigation sector whose sole added value comes from GPS, Yet there was never a private GPS initiative.

  • i love this guy........he should of been the prez...

  • this is great.

  • At least credit Donahue for letting him speak and make his points. You don't see much of that today.

  • 1 in 7 americans are now on food stamps, the top 10% of earners pay 75% of all federal income taxes, just on average, federal, state and local taxes in total sucks up over 40% of all individual income in the US, barney fag and the democrats think that's way too low, the US national debt now exceeds GDP, in just a few years the total number of people supporting SS will exceed recipients only by a factor of 3, it was designed for 10, the US is a joke and Phil's still as dumb as a log.

  • Friedman was such a giant!

And Donahue is such a putz.

  • Donahue looks like a lunatic in this video.

  • Classic

  • Lefties, believe THEY are Elitist with superior thinking, and only "THEY" can fix all the worlds problems! Even as they bankrupt our nation! They seek the absolute power that a Progressive, Liberal, Socialist, Communist government would provide them. They despise the Constitution because it forces Limited Government upon them!

  • Watch it and weep, moron lefties!

  • It makes absolutely no sense to have such coverage- and that inevitably jacks up the cost of the insurance.

So where is the free market? this is fascism/socialism/statism not free market capitalism. So b/c statism/socialism/fascism fails, u blame capitalism- wonderful

  • The cost of the checkups, non-urgent needs & operations, excess x-rays, non-critical surgery etc, all those have been hidden from the consumer or beneficiary. Normally in a free market, the consumer/beneficiary has a very close relation to not only the benefits but also the costs. Thus he is very frugal in his efforts to spend his SCARCE money & resources wisely. THIS encourages competition, drives down prices & improves quality

  • @swu880

healthcare providers in a free market have to be frugal & compete for patients & various patrons. They are free from unnecessary litigation & lawsuits. But they are exposed to the strict yet rewarding market forces. note i said exposed to market forces

However, what we have is anything but free market. The consumer doesn't know even how much the x-ray costs so he hardly cares at all. To him, the costs have been externalized- he doesn't pay for it directly.

  • @swu880

And do you even know the 4 method of spending which milton friedman has so profoundly described in his talks?

    here take a look:

    /watch?v=leYMlFWWrmw

Only when you bear the cost, or someone relatively close to you- when u have both the cost & benefit, then frugality is the master & competition can weed out the inefficient & undesirables

  • @swu880

Finally, undesirability is another big reason why costs are so high. Normally in a free market, u enter the market voluntarily. you get exactly for what you pay for. But in the healthcare, you neither know exactly what you are getting nor do you know how much you are paying if anything- since u are hardly paying anything in the case of 3rd party payer systems

  • @swu880

Free markets are 1 on 1. That is where the accountability lies- the intimacy. However, with all these excessive 3rd parties encroachin on the relationship, there is no accountability or intimacy left

Also, often times, u dont even need half the stuff u get on these 3rd party payer plans. The insurance has many state mandates to cover various diseases & illness & conditions which many families & persons don't need at all.

  • as well as the threat & hassle of dealing with 3rd party payers(the govt medicare/medicaid gives many doctors a bigger hassle than they can afford & often times dont even pay out very substantially). This artiifcially fucks with the supply & demand curve - "should i give this guy an x-ray? if i do then i may not get paid, if i dont, i may be sued ,etc, etc, etc"

The presence of such a stringent 3rd party payer especially medicare/medicaid only seeks to EXTERNALIZE A SUPPOSED INTERNAL COST!

  • its impossible to find the price of even a simple stitch or how much it costs for a splint or having a gallbladder removed, etc. all the costs are hidden. Not only are the costs of x-rays, surgery & operations hidden, but they are regulated & litigated

The docter in the back of his mind (hopefully its only in the back of his mind) when he evaluates his patients, unfortunately must not only consider the health & wellbeing of the patient but also the threat of the litigation & uncanny lawsuits

  • the free market never failed. It was never truly given the chance to thrive- it was squeezed & pummeled. If not, then where is the healthcare MARKET?
