Interesting...I see a bit of a chip or rolled edge right up near the tip (at 0:40 seconds). Did you hit a rock? It's not easy to roll the edge of Busse.
I have a FFBM as well and I must say it is an incredible knife. I use it almost daily. Its just like a huge tough scalpel - the steel really is incredible. It is my favorite knife.
The current model that I own is discontinued (unless you want a Custom Shoppe, in that case, nothing is discontinued). The forums are also a good place to look.
However, on their website they are still taking orders for a thinner FBM called the Bushwacker BM. It's quite nice but the stock is only (*chuckle*, this doesn't really make that much of difference in strength compared to other production knives) 3/16 in.
the real star of the video was the really interesting ropework on the d guard, was that an 8 braid sinnet? I tie knots so can you describe how you did it?
I did post up a thread on the Scrap Yard Forums a awhile ago that gives a detail pictorial on how to tie the guard. I try to find the link and send it to you if you are interested.
Well, I don't have a job that would give me the initiative to use such a knife, but then again, I don't want to waste my money on it. As many knives as I have I'm really not a collector.
With the stuff that I've put my Busse through, I probably would have spent at least 1000 dollars on lesser knives (customs included)
I actually got it on the forums. Sadly the company one produces these knives in small batches that can only be obtained via knife shows and ganzas. They also have releases.
This specific model is no longer in production. However, you can get a custom shoppe version.
Why would you say that the NMFBM isn't suited for chopping? Noss4 has a demo of the NMFBM chopping 2X4s and it seems pretty well suited to the task to me. Noss also rates it as his favorite chopper hes ever used!
haha Just thought it was kind of a strange thing to say.
I have both the CG and NM versions of the Battle Mistress but no Fat one for me. I think you're probably right in that the Fat version would be better to pack out into the bush.
Yeah, I bought two of them and ended up having problems with mine. They re-handled mine then I sold them both. Hopefully yours is still OK, eventually they will get worse and come off.
The handles you have to be careful with I see yours are moving. If you accidentally hit them too many times while batoning they will come off, that is why Noss had his come off first. The old brass ones were much stronger in my experience.
dude, the knife in the color iv ordered is on ebay n 1 in the color uv ordered.the white n tan looks like summit a storm trooper off star wars would carry in the jungle lol,so cant wait (",)
Great. Personally I'm not a big fan of the ASHs for some reason. I guess I just don't like the design, it doesn't flow like some of the other knives. Though, I really like the FSH series. Would be nice to see a skinny FSH, they are all thicker than .300 inches.
yeah see ur point, looking at the nuclear meltdown too,got a month to decide tho lol, dont no much about them, jus love to own a knife that i dont have to worry about(",)
stop now,im getting excited lol!dunno wat u do to get ur knives but uv got 1 hell of a collection.wat u think about the sheaths?get theirs or do wat u did n get a custom?
In many cases with Busse, you'll will need to get a custom sheath. Actually, all Busses these days need a custom sheath. The only series that came with sheaths were the earlier models (earlier A2 AK-47, etc) and the Basic Series
If you decide to get an ASH from the BCS, I think they still offer custom sheaths from Mashed Cat, a very good sheath maker. In many cases with Busse, you'll will need to get a custom sheath
That is a monster, awaiting to be punished. Lol. When funds are avail I would love to add one to the collection. Thanks for the video. Jet over and out
ill buy yours if u want plz haha

The Average used price seems like its $600 nowadays.... Ill prolly have to go with a dogfather, i can spend over 400 on a knife, haha.

@robbabcock1969 It is, in fact, a small dent. not a chip. I did indeed accidentally hit it against a rock will using it awhile back.

Ok.. how many inches is this knife? But cant i order the thick flat edged knife that you have there from any website at all?
666acdcfan 2 years ago
I think 16 inches. Yea, like I said, the company only does limited runs, shows, and ganzas. Can't just get it like a normal production knife.
SharpSpears 2 years ago
I do not think I could get myself to use a knife that cost so much. And what kind of job do you have that your beater knife is a BUSSE.

Did I really say that? Sorry.
What I really meant was that it would be impractical to take out for chopping since it is so big.
That and I personally just like the thicker FBM better. :D

Oh, well oops. :D
That's awesome. I really like the CG and I really do want a NM to just test it out, but they are pretty expensive.
And thanks for the compliment!
SharpSpears 2 years ago
I think what he meant is that it isn't suited for chopping because he has the hand strength of a 12 yr old girl and the knife is too much to handle.
roadwarrior1981 2 years ago
Yeah, I bought two of them and ended up having problems with mine. They re-handled mine then I sold them both. Hopefully yours is still OK, eventually they will get worse and come off.

Well, the warranty covers it so I'm not too worried. Though, I also agree that the brass ones are nicer.

Yeah they charge you when the knife ships, and if I am correct, that is after the knife is taken down off the site for order. So it should be soon!
