I think some 747s are still "old style economy", that's why I avoid taking lufthansa for flights where they use 747s... because on long haul flights, I really think personal TV has to be standard in economy class nowadays. I hope they'll refit their 747s too in the future.

actually the Lufthansa A330's already have the PTV's installed and you don't have to pay to use the IFE, back about 2 years ago many of the A330's didn't have them installed yet

I would take Lufthansa anywhere. I live in the UK but for every long haul flight my first choice is finding if Lufthansa fly there because regardless I know that a) It will be on time b) The service will be great and c) The aircraft will be clean.

They also have an incredibly good safety record considering how many aircraft they have in service.

If you think European airlines are bad, try living here in the US and flying our airlines which have completely lost their way in service. We have bitter flight attendants who hide behind unions, we need to pay for pillows and blankets, don't get a meal and there is no glamor in the experience. I would take LH over UA, AA, DL or Continental any day.

I personally love them. There boeing aircraft arent configured with any PTV's but there airbus A330 and most A340 are. You should have a great flight. Lufthansa is also one of the safest airlines in the world.

Now onboard the lufthansa airbus a330 there are personal tvs. I am flying with Lufthansa from Detroit to Frankfrut on july 9th, and I have heard and seen pictures that they now DO have ptvs. But the airbus a340 still don't.

jaja, sie sind momentan eh im umbau! alle airbus langstreckenflugzeuge werden mit ptv's ausgestattet in den nächsten monanten. einige haben sie schon! die alten B747s werden nicht mehr mit ptv's ausgestattet, da sie in zukunft durch neue boeing 747-800 ersetzt werden!

From what i've seen, the shaking during landing and taking off causes the lightbulbs to become lose, resulting in flashing lights.

Fs9-It's not just at night, i took a Alaskaair from SEA-SNA in the afternoon and the lights were off the whole flight.

Cabin lighting must match outside conditions. Otherwise you'd be almost blind in case of a take-off or landing accident with the loss of electrical power in a completely dark cabin. So the lights will be switched off during night time take-off and/or landing.

At least at LH, it is a standard procedure to dim the cabin lights for take-off and / or landing if it is (or if it is getting) dark outside. The passengers and the cabin-crew should get used to the darkness so that in case of an emergeny they would be able to see something at once - even without any artificial light. I know that other airlines take-off and land at night-time with bright cabin-lights but LH does it like explained above.

@borderliner86 the first terminal you can see in the video is the second terminal (terminal for lufthansa) so he has to stop very fast to exit the runway at the right taxiway...if he doesn't stop fast and if he doesn't exit the runway at the right "position" he'll have to taxi for a long while back...

Also Kabine echt TOP! selbst bei den "älteren" 747-Jets alles super! Leider eben fehlen in den meisten Maschinen noch die inseat videos, aber bald sind die ja auch umgerüstet! Sicherheit und Service natürlich gewohnte Lufthansa Qualität (da kann glaub ich keine Airline mithalten). Catering solala... !
