Hello, Yang Haiying: I've enjoyed learning from your many videos. I'm going to try silk painting since learning so much from your posts! I've been ombre dyeing silk scarves, but most of the color washes away even after steaming, but will keep trying. Thank you, Yang Haiying for all the the information you have given to so many of us -- I look forward to watching more of your videos and learning even more about silk painting! Thanks!!!!
I remember we had to do a silk painting in art class. I was a sophomore in highschool- so I wasn't very skilled then. If I had the chance- I would like to try it again. (Or to use similar techniques on paper- using masks right?)

Your no-mistake theory reminds me of what Bob Ross always said. Do you know him?
"We don't make mistakes, we have happy accidents."
That was one of his great quotes.

what kind of paint are u using? fabric dye?
berryxkiwi 4 years ago
It is silk dye. The exact name is Jacquard green lable silk dye, made in the USA.
yanghaiying 4 years ago
thanks! i think i did this in my art class before. arent u suppose to iron down the white outline? sorry i dont know what it is called.
berryxkiwi 4 years ago
No. The white outline is called gutta. I do not iron it down because it is spirit base. Maybe you were using water based, and it formed a high edge.
yanghaiying 4 years ago
hmm...i think we were using wax..lol..what u did was really pretty!! keep up the good work! ^^
