  • is this real silk ?

  • @elliottonyt Yes. This is 100% silk. As far as I have experienced, only pure silk can allow color flow so freely.

  • Could you maybe do some more silk paintings where we get to see you do them. Thank You.

  • @LiveLifeHappy0 On the right side, there are many videos of silk paintinbg. Mostly are from yanghaiying, You may check them out. Thank you for passing by.

  • I'm a very beginner at sumi-e painting, and I've seen other videos but your video help me know how to hold the brush and you explain everything very clearly. I enjoy watching your video. I will attempt to do some painting. I love Bamboo art, it makes me feel relaxed. Its like an escape from the world and its problems. Great Job! j

  • It's beautiful, and very interesting. Thanks for posting♥ Xie xie!

  • Thank you, it s very interesting and so nice !!!

  • merci pour ce joli court de peinture sur soie : )

  • "we just need to try to interfere less"

You are a very wise person.

Thank you for posting this beautiful video. I love watching the colors move out to the edges of the shapes. Very inspiring !

  • fantastic

  • oh. ok. thank you. I love the bright colors.

  • what are you using to color it? dye? paint? and what type of fabric is that?

  • @bebechicago The fabric is silk, and the color is silk dye, Jacquard silk dye.

  • Saw on a show called the inventors in Australia a solution that allows silk to be placed on canvas and stops Bleeding when using paint or dyes etc.

  • wonderful.What is gutta

  • @seejabosco You can search online with the key word "gutta resist", thank you.

  • This is fantastic how the paint can be worked over and over.

  • @CaptBart Yes. color makes it colorful and water can wash out the excess color.

  • So, is painting on fabric still similar to using watercolor technique?

  • Классно =) Это пять.

  • gorgeous, love the blending of colours. Thanks for sharing

  • Beautiful. I never saw a silk painting until now. The colors blended beautifully.

  • hey yanghaiying wat kind of silk do u use?

  • This one is crepe de chine. But I use all kinds of silk, chiffon, crepe, flat crepe, velvet, twill, charmeuse. They are can all be brilliant if you use the right method. I will do a video HD to show you the texture and detail. Thank you.

  • ooh I just love crêpe de chine. It's sooooooo shiny and the colour almost paint itself....

  • what do you use to make the border of the flower before you start?

  • gutta serti.

  • pretty

  • Haiying, I love your art philosophy about making mistakes!

    Red Dragonfly

  • that fluorescent light is messin with your camera.. very blinkie. lol

love your works, very inspiring for me because oftin when im drawing or painting i put a line in a place and feel like i messed it up.. seeing you so relaxed in your art, i see you make a brush stroke and i cant visualize how to make it work but you end up with a beautiful final product.. guess i have to work on my visualizing

  • Thank you for the light reminder. I will try to find a way avoid it.

By the way, I could not visualize anything before I finish. You were not alone. The magic is in the colors themselves. They find their way. We just need to try interfer less.

  • make a flower but when painting it, paint it tie dye :)

  • thats is amazing

  • love your concept about art:)

  • That is also what I always say when I paint, a mistake is just a door to someplace you would normally not go to.

  • Mistake is a gift form heaven.

  • ohhh ok then thx 4 that lol

  • @ripley4O77 and in life its exactly same

  • WOOw!!

    Amazing!!

  • the way you talk is very soothing.. and i am very stressed today.. it helped! thank you:))

  • Hello, Yang Haiying: I've enjoyed learning from your many videos. I'm going to try silk painting since learning so much from your posts! I've been ombre dyeing silk scarves, but most of the color washes away even after steaming, but will keep trying. Thank you, Yang Haiying for all the the information you have given to so many of us -- I look forward to watching more of your videos and learning even more about silk painting! Thanks!!!!

  • Your no-mistake theory reminds me of what Bob Ross always said. Do you know him?

"We don't make mistakes, we have happy accidents."

That was one of his great quotes.

    :)

  • I admire him. It is very true.

  • beautiful haiying, really...

    keep up the good work

    and good luck =]

  • I remember we had to do a silk painting in art class. I was a sophomore in highschool- so I wasn't very skilled then. If I had the chance- I would like to try it again. (Or to use similar techniques on paper- using masks right?)

    ---

One final question: do you have deviantART account?

  • "When there is a mistake it might be a chance for you to develop something new."

What a wise and beautiful thought. Thank you for that.

  • what kind of paint are u using? fabric dye?

  • It is silk dye. The exact name is Jacquard green lable silk dye, made in the USA.

  • thanks! i think i did this in my art class before. arent u suppose to iron down the white outline? sorry i dont know what it is called.

  • No. The white outline is called gutta. I do not iron it down because it is spirit base. Maybe you were using water based, and it formed a high edge.

  • hmm...i think we were using wax..lol..what u did was really pretty!! keep up the good work! ^^

  • i really love this way of painting ... looks really n ice... would love to try it sometime

  • What do you like,

    painting on silk or

    this style of outlined painting?

I can do a demo of this kind of painting on paper if you can not find suitable silk.

Let me know, thank you, Haiying
