@CrashJSTest also the 21/25 mpg is a 2wd refular cab with 4 cylinder, its tow rating is much lower. You can't compare that to a full size crew cab with a v8 and a full size bed. A 2wd tacoma 4.0 v6 with access cab (not even the biggest cab) is list as 15/19mpg on toyotas website, pretty far away from the silverados rating especially from a smaller truck. Getting above 20 in the city in a full size extended cab is impressive especially when they typically average around 12-14mpg.

@CrashJSTest check again, the tacoma gets significantly worse city mileage. Most peeople drive mostly city miles especially with trucks. Also the tacoma is not a full size truck.
i kinda dont understand this truck, its just not fuel efficient enough. yes 23mpg is good, but combines for 21 mpg which is almost equal to the fords 2 v6 engines and considering that the truck starts at 40 grand, it just doesnt really deliver in fuel savings. they need to push it more
I now own a 1HY 4X4 version as of a couple weeks ago. And I find it awesome. Power? Wow! Lots of it. Smooth Ride? Smoothest and Quietest Truck I've ever been in. Doing mixed driving with it, and getting 21 MPG. I absolutley Love This Truck. I traded in my 2006 Crew Cab 4X4 1500 for it, and this was a bigger step up in the Truck that got than I thought it would be.
Diesel is the way to go until we really figure out electrical power. My 7700 lbs 2500HD with 6.6 Duramax gets 20mpg highway, and 15 mixed driving.. imagine what a 1500 would get?
They claim it makes good mileage, but at 4:20 in the video the trucks computer says the average fuel economy was 11.1mpg??? I've heard on too many times that Hybrid pickup trucks make no where near the gas mileage they claim.
@atgskater14 The straight six was only in the envoy and trailblazer, and they stopped making it in 09. Too bad since it made something like 292 hp from 4.2 liters.
well for a small truck you could get something else, the silverado is a full size truck although you can make it substantially smaller by having a normal cab and a short bed.
@Captainbob25202000 yeah the I5 & I4 suck, plus the overall vehicle isn't that well built. You'd be better off getting a V6 Silverado reg-cab with the short-bed.
Yes it's true but you need a feather touch on the gas peddle to do it. It will also drop into electric mode when cursing at 30mph or less. It still needs some refinement but it's a step in the right direction.
They don't do diesel hybrids yet becasue the extra cost of the hybrid + the extra cost of the diesel would make it cost to much to sell. Maybe in the future as prices drop on the technology.
come on....do we rly need to b promoting these types of cars? sure somme people need them, but very few, only the contractors and carpenters and construction workers
I love seeing the 11.1 mpg haha usless ...

If GM made the 5.3 a hybrid and offered it in single cab, I'd purchase this truck.

I find the silverado to be one of the ugliest trucks out of the Dodge ram, ford f-150 and toyota tundra.

my aunt has the hybrid tahoe and it does really good in town....of course without getting into the gas
but idk that still a good Q's
JakeDusangTM 1 year ago
@StratGT yeah they usually are a waste. I think they usually only get about 3 MPG more then a reg version at the MOST.
