On the weekend of May 20th and the 21 NJ Transit was working on the overhead Catenary Wires and as a result they had to turn of the catenary wires and run diesel locomotives the entire weekend. Passengers had to switch trains at Newark Penn Station for the rest of the trip into New York. All NJ Transit diesel consists terminate at Bay Head or Hoboken. All other NJCL trains are electric.
Looks like bullet holes on the side of the engine. Did it just come out of a battle or something?

Sorry, it was 5000 at the end of the commuter train, NOT 5008.

I remember this day. They were doing work on the catinary and it was causing problems for the North Jersey Coast Line.

I thought njt only uses ALP locomotives on the north jersey coast line, i guess they use gp40s for service from bayhead to hoboken
