Good system except there's a lot of evidence that the plastic coating on the inside of cans is toxic when heated. Do a search on this.

salt will not bring water to a boil faster, but increase the tempature at which it boils. meaning it will take longer to boil but will be hotter and salt is great for cooking

I add salt when hard boiling eggs to stop the eggs cracking open, its always worked for me.
