Thanks so much, your videos are so informative. I can't imagine why you would get even a single thumbs down. I'm just about to get a dehydrator (BBB 20% off coupon) and have found your videos invaluable.
Tammy, I forgot....Re: the celery, whether you blanch it or put it straight in dehydrator, the celery will still come out the same size when cooked. Correct?
Tammy, I read somewhere that when you blanch by total submersion into the water, you lose vitamins and minerals. And that using a wire basket attached just above the boiling water is better. What do you say?
Really appreciate the dehydrating infor. Especially celery. Not a huge fan of it but love it in soups & stews. Too expensive to buy a bunch for one recipe - so will dry a bunch & store them for future use. I dont have an Excelorator but I do have an old dehydrating tower that I have had for years. Many thanks again
Ladies, if you dehydrate Apples... you have to look for the JAZZ apple. Originated out of New Zealand, but is now grown in Washington state at certian times of the year.
The is the best apple! The flavor is out of this world. It's super crisp, and I notice it does not seem to turn brown after I've peeled/cored/sliced! It's nice round shape makes great for the apple peeler/corer.
They turn out great from the dehydrator. Best tasting snack!
I just want to say what a blessing it has been to watch these and learn from your experience. I'm well aware of the state of our economy and our world and take head to the Bible's instructions to prepare. I also know first hand what a blessing a food storage can be as it made things a lot easier when my husband lost his job. I've been working on a long term food storage but have a ways to go. I love canning but obviously dehydrating takes up much less space! Thanks for all your hard work!
Just a kitchen tip to make everyone's life easier- for scallions and chives, use a pair of kitchen shears to cut them to whatever size you like. I personally just run my knife through them because I'm well trained with a knife but I always make my husband use the shears because I'm afraid he'll lose a finger or I'll die waiting for him to do it with a knife!
My chopped onions turn brown when I dehydrate them. I'm using a cheap round dehydrator that someone gave me and it doesn't have a temp control. It almost looks like the onions are cooking in the dehydrator because they get a little translucent. Is it too hot? what's going on? Thanks.
I finally tried my new Excalibur and Oh My Goodness!!! What a difference! I knew it would be better than my old round one, but I HAD NO IDEA it would be so much easier to use, and that the food would come out so much nicer. The large square trays are wonderful, and nothing could fall through any spaces like the old one. The new timer is fantastic. The quality is Outstanding, Thank you for your videos, I couldn't have, done this without you! Bless you!
2 __ then keep it cool for 5 mins ( (be sure the cover is very tight )) then drink half of it early morning ( before breakfast ) then go for running only for 4 to 7 mins but VERY FAST then get back tio ur kitchen to drink the 2d half , u'll get the magical results after 3 to 4 weeks of daily doing it but dont eat any oily , sugary , junk and food and to sleep only 8 hrs nightly . Good luck
1 __ Do this simple soup if u want to heal ur organs with great power of muscles , natural beauty , strong lust and smartness , just cut some garlic , ginger , onion , asparagus in very small pieces then put them in a small gas steamer with 2 caps of water for 10 to 15 mins
I've used the round dehydrator before, but had been considering the Excalibur for a while now, mostly because of the obviously higher quality, and standards it has, but also because of your wonderful videos. They convinced me that it was time to be serious about it NOW.
I had forgotten how simple it is to dehydrate, and your videos reminded me.
I can't thank you enough for your videos and your web site. Bless You!
Cool! Thank you for sharing this info! I've never seen the HUGE garlic in stores! I really really need to get my dehydrator out and get to using it again!
Thank you Tammy for more great information. for Christmas my husband got me a vacuum sealer, and like Jack we went and got some of the name brand bags and found that they leaked horribly. We weren't very happy with that part, then we heard your interview with Jack and now I am going to order some of the bags you recommend. Thanks again for everything you do.
Tammy, you rock! Thanks for being a guest on my show and thanks for posting a new YouTube vid. I was worried now that you have a site you might not be posting to the tube anymore.
We need good content like yours on Youtube! Oh and tell your boy thanks for all the work he does to keep your videos coming.
Excellent videos as usual. I got my family engaged in dehydrating. This Christmas, gifts were gifts in a jar from dehydrated fruits and dehydrating machines! :) I am using my last dehydrated stuff I have since we are moving this summer. Let's see how it goes there in Puerto Rico since is way more humid! :)
BTW...if you dehydrate onions & garlic together in the same load, or garlic & something else, do you have a problem with the other food taking on a garlic flavor? Same with onions? I wondered if it just kind of overpowers & infiltrates everything else!
Thanks for another great video. I am going to grow a lot of onions & garlic in my garden this year, so I will be putting a lot of them in my Excalibur! Thanks for the know-how!
How long do you dehydrate all of this for please?

It's amazing how easy it is to use a "dehydrator" when you have power but what happens when you don't have power for months and no food?

How do you dry the same items without a dehydrator? I would prefer using a system that does not require electricity. Can you help me?
