  • I never understood why people say the rear head of the delt is used in shoulder presses.

  • that dudes got sick tats

  • how much is a membership at golds gym for the year

  • @burkey2015 $60-70 USD/Month

  • i saw that bodybuilder on eFukt!

  • big boy shavin the pits?? no rspect

  • @RoBaNdBiGjr Youtube soldier noticing stuff like that?? gay

  • @RoBaNdBiGjr its reduced B.O

  • Meat HEad

  • DO YOU HAVE TO DO 2 EXERCISES OF PRESSES ON SHOULDER DAY? OR CAN YOU CHOOSE EITHER DB PRESS OR BB PRESS... AND THE LATERALS?

  • @MemoPittBull you can do whatever you want. i start with heavy BB presses, then i do lighter DB presses to make sure i'm working each shoulder equally

  • I am convinced that intructor dude is related to Vince Gironda lol

  • why aren't the DB parallel to ground once hoisted up?

  • 720p would be nice

  • I'm doing the Arnold

  • I used to wear my hat low like that. Thank god I don't anymore

  • @DistortedBrain you got an arrow to the knee!

  • @DistortedBrain why? he's looking intelligent!

  • @DistortedBrain

    You've just made my day!

    epic comment

  • Okay? Okay?

  • I think you could just not lock out your arms and still kep them perp to the floor. The way you do it is wasting energy on your triceps that could be used to do more weight and reps for the delt.

  • Thank you For the TIps Bro!!!! Really Helpfull!!! Now i Feel My shoulders Really good thank you my man!!!

  • Nice vid, devon learn which way to wear your hat mate!!

  • i really want to know what his definition of "tone up" means. not radiating any negativity or hate but im just curious.

  • @rerereremixxx

Tone up is probably getting more shape in the muscles. No mass but shape.

  • @MastahMich

Shape. Which really means a lower bodyfat %, and that can only be attained by losing weight. There is no such thing as "toning up". It's Dr.Oz nonsense talk. You can build muscle for more mass and strength or you can lose weight for more definition. I wish more people understood this.

  • @Turnybear u speak the truth man, i hate when people say they need to get "toned"

  • @Turnybear I think people also misunderstand that we have different shapes. You can't just want your biceps (for example) to be a certain shape and then do a certain exercise enough times. The size you can be, and the shape you can be, is determined by genetics.

  • HHHEEEERRRREEEESSSS JJJOOOHHHNNNNNNYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • why does he hold the dumbells tilted inwards at the top? that's fine w light weight but when u go heavier (80s, 90s) i think it will hurt your wrists, no?

  • @secutorclaudius The DBs are tilted relative to the floor but his wrists are actually straight in line with the forearm- probably less awkward and painful than trying to flatten the DBs by putting a massive angle in your wrists.

  • @rad2tm so is it better to bring them that close together at the top instead of straight up? i'm just relearning to use dbs, have only been doing barbell for a long time, but my lifts have really staled lately.

  • wears hit hat wayyyy to low haha

  • nice channel i have sub =)

  • Man this vid helps me alot i know why my elbows hurt sometimes after i work on shoulders, cant wait to try this exercise out

  • im going to incorporate the arnold press into my shoulders routine. I just hope i dont do it wrong and hurt my self. seams like an advanced exercise maybe a little to complex for me at the moment.

  • Look at those ugly ugly tats -- what is it with people who are obsessed with tattoos? It's pure ugly.

  • @MrBoywonder1985 trashy.. yes

  • @MrBoywonder1985 Relax, man. live your life and don't worry about any other guys.

PS i don't have any tattoos

  • yay

  • The advice on dumbbell shoulder press is limited, quite literally. If you don't go all the way down, then you will create a sticking point and you also don't activate your delt as much. Going all the way up emphasizes triceps, but if you are looking for the most out of a delt workout it's best to go all the way down (unless you have an injury or it hurts) and then go up but not all the way up.

  • The guy's technique is a little off: he's bringing the weights at the bottom position too low. Your palms should be a bit higher than eye level, but the guy has it down to his chin, which basically allows you to rest your shoulders. If you keep your arms higher at the bottom position then your delts will continue to be tense and you'll get a better burn. Try it for yourselves.

  • @YVS83 touche

  • Is toning up pretty much more ambitious lifting, or is it advanced for people who have already developed the muscles?

  • Comment removed

  • @BXAssasinatorXS Oh ok, cool thanks. Does it target the specific body part you are working or just the body overall?

  • Comment removed

  • @Deanbass77 Oh sorry. Correction. I was referring to muscle endurance, which is increased through high reps. To tone, you are probably best off doing cardio and eating better

  • beautiful tattoo

  • @dan13718 would you say driving vs walking is cheating? or how about shoes? are shoes cheating??? What about using a gun vs a sword?? still cheating? our founding fathers created this country so that ppl can do whatever they wanted and improve themselves how ever they wanted free from persecution and you gay judgement.

  • Thats just shit. I am doing Chuck Press.

  • I've heard and seen many ways to do this exercise so I'm a little confused. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought you're elbows weren't suppose to go below your chest and you were instead suppose to bring them right in front of you without lowering them all the way?

  • if your trying to tone, more reps wont do anything, itll just give your muscle more endurance

  • heeey its blake griffin

  • @LookanIndian an aids stricken blake griffin whos mother was an rape victim

  • @dan13718 Supplements are for athletes.Steroids are for homos.

  • Comment removed

  • awesome. trying that tomorrow

  • i think his math is off lol arnold did that exercise at least 35 years ago from when that vid was made.

  • @dan13718 yeah brah i know this guy who took creatine and whey and he died

  • @poopadoxlol lol wtf?

  • @poopadoxlol Might be helpful to explain what he died from, supplements and creatine definitely didn't do it.

  • @jeremiah77769 I thought it was fairly obvious that I was making fun of the person i responded to.

  • @dan13718 dont equate supplements with steroids you ignorant dummie. Go online and learn about supplements

  • shoulders are really really sensitive from my years of gym, they are maybe the most fucked up, weakest but the best looking muscles when grown

  • hey guys, when i do arnold presses (12kg, about 26 lbs), i always feel strain on my lower back and neck for some reason. any advice?

  • @freenewsletter You should feel strain on your lower back if you're doing it standing, or without a chair. Your lower back is working to keep your back straight, and the added weight makes it a workoutout.

I can't tell for sure why your neck would hurt. Maybe you have bad form or bad posture. Watch yourself do them in a mirror and make sure your head is up and not tilted forward or in some otherwise improper way.

  • @freenewsletter...that's somewhat normal, but to help in relief of that problem, use a seat that support your whole back so while you're sitting, doing shoulder presses, your back is supported by the back part of the bench. With the seat supporting your back,it'll also help in posture with your head as you rest it on the seat as well.

  • @freenewsletter

that is not necessarily a ad sign....most exercises work the neck and core for stability...maybe do more deadlifts as they are excellent for core strength.

  • dude with public enemy shirt is badass

  • That dude can pass for Blake Griffin's brother.

  • @NWOHARINDERDHINDSA i dont know how long you have been lifting but either the bar is far back toward your upper chest when you bench or your elbows are too flared out or both. make sure your elbows are tucked in and you bench at your nipple line. try to put a bit of an arch in your lower back

  • I'm 16 yrs. old weigh bout 155 and am currently maxing out at bout 210 maybe 215 on a good day on the bench press...Is that pretty good for my weight/age...I'd appreciate some advice as well...thanks!

  • @NWOHARINDERDHINDSA it might also be because you are lowering the bar too close to your neck. try moving towards your core more.

  • @NWOHARINDERDHINDSA cuz ur elbows are flaring out

  • dude looks like Blake Griffin

  • You guys are humble, professional, and very informative, thanks for the instruction gentleman!

  • "shut up devon and just do what i say"

  • nice tats homie and ur cap too!

  • fuck around with this exercise your shoulders are DONE.

  • Arnold his shoulders were not his best body parts , this is why !

  • >wearing flat-brimmed hat in gym

    >i want to commit mass murder

  • that guys eyes are way to close together

  • @JeefGagn A male judging a male's looks? Yep, homosexual.

  • hey yall thanx for the video .. now i can do them correctly

  • too many tattoos distract from muscle definition.

  • his shining tattoo is sick. (inner right forearm)

  • Dude in Public Enemy shirt is a big mofo.

  • @southport97 he looks like a pussy

  • Not a good form at all, to much force on a angle, on you risk. Dont try this at home kids

  • Another great thing about the Arnold press is that as you begin the movement away from the chest, and the arms are moving away to get into position to press, you also engage the posterior delts, serratus anterior, lower and upper traps. The next best thing would be to do this standing instead of sitting.

  • HEY TAKE MY ADVICE DONT LOWER THE WEIGHT..WHEN ITS AT STARTING POSITION KEEP IT 90% ALL THE TENSION WILL BE ON SHOULDER

  • If arnold is in the name of the exercise, Its probably gonna rip the shit out of my shoulders. great vid!

  • That guys sleeve tattoo is bloody wicked

  • "15-20 reps to tone up" lol

  • @7947chris cunt can you read? how the fuck did i spell that wrong? and just because he wore that shirt, it doesn't label him a wigger you dumb cunt

  • Best vid of this..probably the exercise most people do wrong with the arm locking ant all the way up going even in most books it shows to go all the way up..so sad....thumbs up you you mate thanks ;-)

  • 15-20 reps.....i lol'd

  • Arnold press is not good for ROTATOR CUFFS

  • Joe is great and he knows his suff

  • is dat man a gangzta??

  • @7947chris youre a fuckwit

  • that bit at the end about reps, 6-10 for size, 15-20 for 'tonning up' is BS. 8-12 is best for hypertrophy aka building muscle mass, 15-20 is almost indurance training for the upper body. definition is dictated by bodyfat percentage. that said certain rep ranges effect certain ppl differently

  • I do 90 degree, holding dumbells a bit higher when bringing them in front, but u force to do lighter weight

  • @bonfido Not that I could do major weight before (like 60-65 lbs dumbells), but when I kept them at 90 degrees in front I was doing like 35-40 lbs. That is a great way to make the exercise difficult. Really stresses form.

  • Charlie Sheen calls them WINNING presses .

  • @slLLyhumans where can i find him saying that? would love to have a reference :D

  • it works your tarps nicely as well.

  • Dude i have to have that Public Enemy shirt when i work out :)

  • @itsJAIRO Agreed, its awesome.

  • Digging the Jack Nicholson tat.

  • Thanks for these videos. I had a great shoulder workout today because I was doing these and upright rows incorrectly!

  • Thanks for these videos. I had a great shoulder workout today because I was doing these and upright rows incorrectly!

  • With those tattoos his arms look like the walls of a run down city... all covered with Graffiti.

  • @SethHesio your an idiot

  • @pryski too much muscle mass aswell. The aesthetic that bodybuilders go for is too big. You lose flexibility and just look unhealthy. Don't you think?

  • wow arnold even invented his own exercise?is it true that arnold have the best genes in the world??someone pls?

  • @makawskie Yes, Arnold invented this exercise.

  • lol "thats what devins gonna show u" his names joe

  • @Kushosaurus the guy talking is called joe...it says so in the video description...personal trainer...not trainee

  • Arnold is a smart man.

  • Good instruction

  • The man with the cap looks like a really sweet fella

  • Comment removed

  • @zigmaleho is someone forcing you to look at him or are you in fact the idiot for making such a moronic statement? maybe check yourself before attacking someone you've never met for something that doesn't concern you. and there are stupid people everywhere, but I personally like to reserve judgment about someone until their words/actions betray them; such as yours have, Brazilian. in comparison this dude would seem relatively savvy, because he actually knows when to keep his fucking mouth shut.

  • "wow, look at me, I have tattoos and stupid looking things in my ears, and I wear my hat backwards like every other idiot I see"... While this guy is checking himself out in the mirror at the gym, some guy with a brain is banging his girlfriend...and that guy is me.

  • @Hondo8080 -"wow, look at me, I can talk tough on YouTube like all the other little girls".

  • @Hondo8080 lol

  • This exercise has realhy been introduced in 60's by larry scott. Its name should be "SCOTT PRESS" and for exactness it is "SLOW SCOTT".

  • yeah thanx austria mr. sam

  • I love this particular exercise involving the dumbbells. One of the most effective shoulder exercises out there. I saw LeBron James perform this dumbbell exercise before. It's no wonder why LeBron has thick ass looking shoulders.

  • 20 years ago? i dont think so.

  • Thanks for sharing it. Awesome information.

  • Devon looks like a possible member of G Unit

  • i prefer this method because it's less tiring on my elbows

  • so in order to keep tension onto the delts i don't have to push the barbells all the way up right? thanks for telling this, i can correct my mistake now.

  • @presa1200 dumbbells, not barbells ;)

  • It was Larry Scott who showed this shoulder exercise to Arnold...

  • I lov this exercise, tnx Joe.

  • Nice HEEEEEEEEEEERES JOHNNNNNYYYY tattoo

  • fucked up my shoulder

  • @AsangaBF

The first time you do it go lite just to get the feel, trust me, or you'll blow your shoulder out.

  • @southport97 i was useing 25s!

  • @AsangaBF i use 200 lb

  • @btf000 your point?

  • @AsangaBF your a small guy

  • @btf000 is that what women say to you?

  • @AsangaBF Them and your mother

  • @btf000 thats nice

  • @btf000 suck out!! Each arm?!?!?

  • @jodhan23 yes

  • @AsangaBF details pls

  • @donfellone not really much to say, i guess the rotation isn't very healthy for the shoulders. i udes light weights and still ended up hurt.

  • arnold pres is a dangerous exercise

  • why is there always someone talking shit on videos

    shut the hell up

  • @BigLeaugeAant why dont you stfu you stupid twat, its called a comentated demonstration and it helps people understand the the exercise properly. it also explains the target muscle(s). how many noobs on here do you think thought this exercise targeted the traps before watching this clip ?

  • The point of the press is to be a compound exercise. You are suppose to work a secondary muscle. This trainer is an idiot.

  • thanks for the info

  • you are doing it wrong

  • Muy chingon, gracias!

  • nice arnold press.. i'mma try those in the gym tomorrow!

  • is the arnold press a good workout for the mid upper pecs/chest as well shoulders?

  • @cutecollector i don't know i think it might hit a little but not enough for a good workout

  • @cutecollector same here i wanna know if they work the pecs

  • i thought you have to put the dumbell in front of your chest after raising it above your head?
