  • many people say chavez is a bloodthirsty evil dictator, well i dont see chavez invading other countrys killing inocent women and children than getting a nobel peace price. am i right mr obama?

  • the want for implants is not as serious of an issue as the purchasing of foreign whiskey and other imported goods. to keep the Venezuelan economy on an incline, local goods should be purchased more often than imported goods.

We as American citizens can also learn to purchase American made products. But Chavez has it on the NAIL with trading oil for other goods at affordable prices.

Even if he has a different mindset than Obama, at least he is taking more action.

  • inflation at 30%... what are you going to do about it dummy?

  • Chavez has the guts to say the truth to his people unlike the politicians here in America.

  • From CNN to Al-Jazeera, from France24 to BBC, hide fate of hundreds of protesters jailed and murdered,

they non-stop broadcast "press conferences" by Ahmadinejad and his Goebbels "information" minister,

NATO agent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad v resister Hugo Chavez:

Chavez greeting the grotesquely rigged Iranian "elections" = example of the BIG LIE technique

  • Just the beginning idiots soon he will have your country in chaos - can we say taliban or alqueda influence or maybe cuba - Wake up assholes he is buying you idiots till he becomes a permanent dictator - did not know you people could be bought so cheaply

  • You are a real fool!

  • More communism not good. a Second Cold War amoungst us?

  • Give it ten or twenty years, and chavez will drag venezuela yo hell into a hand basket.

  • I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE

    Chavez

  • And by the way I loved this report. Very Balanced. Mr. Chavez maybe you should STOP giving free gas to the local population instead of taxing Luxury good which the poor now have access to. The Poor affording Whisky and Humvees. VIVA LA REVOLUCION, and breast implants and barbis have become a part of the venezuelan culture like baseball has. And yes continue with regional integration projects. And selling OIl in EUROS! and please do not forget the crime situation!

  • Hooray for the Venezuelan people, they voted in favor of freedom and democracy today!

  • no one except the opposition and a dumb american like you would believe that's what they were voting on.

  • They were voting on whether or not Chavez gets to be dictator for life, they voted NO!

Only a braindead moron like yourself would think that Chavez as a dictator is a good thing.

  • plenty of western parliamentary systems have no term limits douchebag. does that mean britain, france, germany, australia, etc. are dictatorships? remember FDR? he was president for 3 terms, we didn't have a law against term limits until 1951.

  • sorry i meant 4 terms*

  • if only i had scrolled down.

  • "No term limits", yeah, that's the sugar coated term for "dictator for life". Morons buy that bullshit, smart people know better.

Apparently the people of Venezuala are smarter than you, that's good to see.

  • the venezuelan constitution will still allow the people to recall the president at any moment if they weren't happy with him. it is far more democratic than your shitty rigged system, so don't lecture these people on democracy, you don't even understand how government works.

  • FDR didnt "interpret" votes.also,he didnt crack down on oposition.

  • show me an example of chavez doing both.

  • like shutting down a news station that expressed rival oposition and underestimating the margin of loss in recent polls.

  • 1. the tv network that you say he "shut down" actively supported a military coup and incited violence in the streets. rctv was a menace to the public interest, so its license was not renewed after it expired. this is absolutely justified and within the constitution. no laws or free speech was violated. 2. the referendum was narrowly defeated by a margin just above 1% according to the independent electoral council.

  • bullshit it was.you actually believe the facist lies Chavez is feeding you.

  • Sorry tastely salad, but you got moded! And RCTV was not shut down in fact it is operating on cable and satelite worldwide and it's offices and shows are functioning. RCTV participated in a COUP to overthrow a democratically elected government. In the states such action would lead to an immediate shut down. But RCTV was never shut down.

  • *4 terms

  • Sorry but that is not what they voted for, and no Chavez would not have been dictator for life, he would be subject to recalls and re-elections like any candidate, that would be up to the people to decide. Plenty of Western democracies don't have term limits.

  • yea americans are so stupid.the first open heart surgerey...first moon landing...etc.only a biggot can stereotype such a massive collection of people.

  • We have a new law coming into affect. Its called Homegrown Terrorism. First it was Iraqis, Than Venzuela, Cuba, Russia, China et cetera. And Now It is Us! We need to stop buying in the market send our message to congress that we are not going to take it any more they have abused us and inslaved us for Years! STOP THE MARKET! STOP THE MARKET!

  • Just look at well my brothers and sisters are doing in Venzuela. All those who are in the United States who drink and are alcholic should stop. Its time for a Revolution. Malcolm X Said NO to drinking. Get In Full Gear. Educate Yourself. Those who live in the United States should stop buy materialistic things! Death To Commodittes!!

  • Chavez is a tinpot neo-communist totalitarian dictator, a knuckle dragging throwback. The Venezualians will be spending years repairing the damage he's causing.

    Death to all communist bastards!

  • how is chavez a dictator? he is the most popular president in latin america who has been democratically elected in transparent and fair elections. a vastly popular leader running a government for the people of venezuela, and not for US economic/political elites, does not make a leader a dictator. the failed CIA coup in 2002 was an attempt at a "throwback" to the failed policies of free trade that have been imposed on the region by US supported dictators and acts of terrorism.

  • the result of world bank, imf, and US imposed policies has been nothing but poverty and devestation for the people of latin america, while a small fraction of elites have prospered. chavez is reparing the damged done by years of US-imposed poverty. chavez is only being called a dictator because he wants his people to be able to prosper and develop. this angers the US imperialist companies who live like vampires off of the third world and call it "democracy".

  • there is nothing new about "world trade" or "free trade" or what the US political/economic elties call "democracy". they are all just code words for imperialism colonialism and economic exploitation and mass-murder of the worlds people for the profits of modern day aristocrats who already have more money than they will ever need.

  • Hey jklasdfjdfksl, you know, you don't have to live in the "dreadful imperalist colonial America" if you don't like what Thomas Jefferson and Payne set up and you prefer Marx, North Korea is waiting for you. You should head over pronto, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out of the country.

  • He was Democratically elected sure, lets give him points for not having a coup to power hooray! And now that he was elected, he's doing everything in his power to destroy Venezuala's democracy, he's a totalitarian! He has no respect for freedom or democracy, he's closing down all opposition to him in the press, in this Al Jazeera video he's ruling by dictate, he's a dictator! Let me guess, you are a Marxist right? Wow, I was spot on right? Am I psychic? No, your misguided ilk are predictible.

  • do you realize that RCTV was calling for a violent overthrow of chavez's elected and vastly-popular government? what do you think would happen to a tv station that did that in the US? chavez is not ruling anyting by dictate, the constitutional changes are done by referendum, where citizens directly vote on policy change. this is a kind of democrcacy that never developed in the US.

  • Uh huh, let me quote this fair and democratic man for you, today's news.

"President Hugo Chavez warned his supporters on Friday that anyone voting against his proposed constitutional changes would be a "traitor"

  • Please, In the News section of Google, search "Only 'Traitors' Will Vote Against Re-Election Reforms"

But you are at a disadvantage, you are defending the indefensible. It's like you are defending Musolini or Hitler or Stalin, you can't win because you are in the wrong from the start. You're intelligent but misguided, you can't believe someone like Chavez is a good guy without lieing to yourself.

  • unless there is a coup chavez will be supreme leader, presidente for life or what ever until he dies.god man you can't really believe he's good for freedom and all of the people

  • you are distorting and failing to understand the situation in venezuela. the constitutional reforms will be voted on and decided on by the VENEZUELAN PEOPLE. if the constitutional reforms pass, the VENZUELAN PEOPLE will decide how long chavez stays in office. it is that simple, regardless of the US-media hate machine.

  • you must be joking.this election is a done deal.i wonder who's counting the votes?

  • every election that chavez has succeeded in has been confirmed legitimate by impartial monitors. im sure the same will take place in such a controversial referendum. the US puppets of the world are now on full force to try and discredit chavez with petty insults and blatant lies; the slime is coming out to distort the truth.

  • hes popular by giving completely impractical promises that benefit only the poorest, uneducated population.capitalism works just fine here.

  • Viva Chavez!!! He is the new peoples leader now! it is up to the people to take advantage of the moment and seize power for a better world!! A New Human is being made in Venezuela and the rest of the peoples will have to follow!!!

  • A love affair w/ a banana republic dictator? While I'm certainly left leaning, Chavez and Castro aren't people to be admired. There's got to be some middle ground, and banning breast implants is more moronic than most of the things Bush does.

Chavez is an idiot. He's not articulate or persuasive, he's just a third rate populist.

Being a slave to fake boobs and whiskey is better than being a slave to something that doesn't exist (God). How many wars are fought over fake boobs?

  • Spot on!

    Now pass the Johnnie Walker.

  • fake tits and whiskey, where do I sign up! lol

  • Chavez is a hero

  • Thanks al Jazeera, this is really refreshing after the post Thanksgiving shopping madness. Ugh one whole month of shameless consumerism until Christmas. Then we get the imported alcohol at New Years. I need to get Venezuela ;D

  • I liked the breast implants.

  • I note that Chavez opposes imported alcohol. What is is position on domestically produced alcoholic beverages?

At any rate, I think he is SO right about discouraging breast implants. Capitalist societies are all about selling fantasies of what can never really be. Do we want the real thing or a fantasy? I personally prefer REAL women with REAL breasts (even if smaller) to plastic-injected fantasy robots.

  • Breast implants, Hummers, Whiskey...

the things that make modern life tolerable. sex, big cars, and sedation.

we're treated like robots at work. we're then brainwashed through a saturation of advertising nearly everywhere we look wanting to fill our vacuous existence with material garbage. the machine has taken on a life of its own. most Westerners are slaves to it.

    you're slaves to materialism.

    Muslims are slaves to Allah.

two different ways of seeing the world.

    one is clearly superior.

  • I don't think there is any credible evidence that Muslims are immune to materialism. It swamped Egypt and Saudi Arabia and is the sole purpose for the creation of the Muslim Brotherhood is it Not? It is human nature.

  • No, that's animal nature (no offense to animals). Human nature is to overcome those baser instincts and inclinations for such vices and do noble things and be a more noble creation.

    Bravo to Chavez's vision.

  • I would like to believe that but in order to do that I would have to ignore all recorded history.

  • thats not true at all, human instinct continually pushes against the idea that humans are mindless creatures that want to harm one another for material well being. look at the creation of islam as a response to capitalist formations and the exploitation and perversity it brought to meccan society.

  • Islam existed for centuries before there was a response to capitalist formations. Sayed Kolb was the first person I know of to champion this. I don't necessarily disagree with him.

  • that was proto-capitalism developing in meccan society, which was overwhelmed by islam and brought about a great enlightenment and prosperity for the arabs and many others.

  • all human progress has come from challenging the idea that people are bound to a greedy nature. movements against slavery, exploitation, imperialism, workers rights, gender rights, etc., have all been based on the efforts of well-intended people who responded to their suffering by oppossing the false materialistic "human nature" imposed on them. of course these movements have not turned out perfectly due to many factors, but that fact should not stop humans from improving their condition.

  • this idea only limits humans and is responsible for the profit wars in the middle east right now, and the global mass-murder being committed in the name of materialism. the fact that humans are close to nuclear war and environmental destruction is enough to show that evil "human nature" is nothing more than a false belief worshiped by the western world.

  • the imposed idea of a greedy and evil human nature has created the un-natural circumstances the human race faces today; with lunatic economic/political elites driving the world to self-destruction for their own greed. the blatantly false idea of a selfish "human nature" is a disease that is threatening to wipe out humanity once and for all.

  • If I could make myself believe that I would sleep better tonight. Apathy is the disease that is threatening to wipe out humanity.

  • apathy is a threat in the context of the US. americans are bombarded with mindless consumer commercials for toys and sex. thats all mass-society is concerned about, while their government is driving the world to destruction. corporate, high finance, and the US goverment, are essentially distracting people while they foolishly attempt to rule the world by force.

  • I could not have said it better myself.

  • Chavez must start revamping from within his government first

  • Hugo Chavez says lots of good things but he needs to get rid of the government corruption so that the people can gain his trust.
