  • The compression on this clip is so heavy I can't tell what the last two are.

  • hmm, i don't know. i'm a fan of letterman but how many african villages could those melons have fed?

  • if it can't be bought, destroy it so no one gets it for free.

  • Not only did Bravia's ad agency, Fallon, steal this concept, but also the Bunnies one from LA artists Kozyndan.

I mean Christ, Bravia's ads are awesome and well executed, but they need a new agency.

  • What the hell was the last thing? Marbles?

  • The Bravia ad is beautiful. And i've thrown bouncy balls down a hill before. It's really not that new...it's the execution that counts.

  • weak

  • Release the melons! Sounds like a night in with the girlfriend.

  • Letterman gets $31m dollars a year you cockwad

  • Entonces.. ¿el oro es Letterman?

  • This Letterman stunt was spawned out of caprice ("Because we can." comedy). The Bravia ad was a "Celebration of Colours," in slow motion. The ad owed more to the promise of Zubbles (first coloured bubbles!), which the bouncy balls resembled in both the bright colours and the illusion of floating. The ad also reminded me of the steinerlenzlinger(.ch) interior decorations. Nevertheless, not mentioning that a stunt like that was done before, in the same place, was unethical.

  • A personal art project. Blabla. Well obviously it was somebody elses artproject beforte. Literally the coloured balls. It's okay to steal just say you took the idea, added a brand and got millions of bucks to execute it more beatiful than the orginal. That would be a 'personal ethics project' for mr. Cabra and the agency. Mention your sources makes the difference. This example is not vaguely inspired on, but literally the same.

  • release the melons??

    haha. thats damn funny man!

    :)

  • I'm a personal friend of Juan Cabral. Balls was an idea he had long time ago as a personal art project. It just happened that he found the funding to do it with Sony.

  • Primero Santo con CocaCola y el gato ninja.

    Ahora esto. QUEDESASSSSTRE

  • al final parece que Cabral no era tal soldado heroico. Que se cubrio de gloria se ve que sí. Bravo Bravia?

  • Qué pasó Juanito!!!!

  • Cabral, te la mangaste, boludini!!!

  • YOU ASSHOLES!

Fallon deserves every grand prix, because they knew something we didn't. They saw something before and they used it.

The creative saw something you assholes didn't, because maybe you were busy looking at annuals.

    Cheers to Fallon!!!

  • Pretty much every ad idea stems from something else. That's how creativity works. As ad people, we pull ideas from lots of different sources. But I am surprised it took the ad world 10 years turn this Letterman bit into something else. Sure, the idea of dropping bouncy balls down a San Fran hill wasn't original, but the way that the Bravia ad was shot, the music, the emotion and how the whole thing was applied to the brand was completely new. I think it's a great execution.

  • I don't know why I'm bothering to even argue a point here, but it doesn't take a lot of creative inspiration to think: "If one bouncy ball is fun, a lot of them at once would be awesome. Where's a place with long, straight, steep hilly streets?"

  • Stolen! Hand over those grand prixes!

  • Stolen art. Giving ad wankers an even worse name.

  • Fallon sooooo stole this idea. An ad agency telling lies... I am shocked I tell you, shocked! The creative needs to take a long walk in the hall of mirrors and has earned the title "Hack".

  • I think it's just inspiration, and think they have done a really nice job of filming it. The Bravia add is brilliant.

(But yeah some lie about thinking about it in there sleep).

  • Ad guys always call it 'insiration'. We know it's just someone else's art with a logo stuck on it.

  • everything ever created has been inspired by something else, music, art/design, company software etc

i'm a graphic designer and i'd be lost without reference books and other reference resources.

creativeness's has to be inspired by something. you'll never be creative if you have a insular view, you need to look at whats already been done and give it your own spin.

  • I agree sony/fallon are kinda busted but they made a great short film and sold a ton more tvs that broadcast david letterman and commercials. silly to think about the cycle of stealing a tv show's idea to sell more tv's that show tv shows and commercials. (and dvd'd and games). and we are watching you tube on our CPU's dicussing all this. that bravia spot wasn't show in heavy rotation in the states either. Also see the latest bravia ad directed by jonathan glaser.

  • Yea, this is way more than inspiration if you ask me.

  • Hmmm, Fallon are so busted. So much for those smug bastards claiming one of their creatives came up with the idea in his sleep. No wonder the 2nd Bravia ad was crap, they had to think it up themselves

  • Did this come befoe or after the Sony ad? When were these clips on the Letterman show?

  • Letterman came out over 10 years ago, the sony ad just this year

  • Naf TV show becomes great ad - whats the prob?

  • inspirtion for bravia?

  • shit.

  • Inspiration only. Fallon still have the merit to adapt this simple idea to a great film.

  • No kidding.

  • Wow. Fallon. Your busted.

  • hahhhahha what a shame
