I am doing the same thing..My LED's are for side lighting and I use a metal halide for the veg and a HPS for the bloom..together they make amazingly healthy plants and the THC content is high...plus it makes the room look purple in places as u can see in the video..cool shit man keep up the good work
i heard so much stuff about LED's that i done a test and i found that for larger yeild hps are definatly best but one good thing i noticed about LED's is they seem to be much more "healthier" if you know what i mean, so i thought of doing what your doing and having a mix of the both because LED's have the best spectrum but by no means would i sacrafice hps's for LED's
you should try using your LEDs as side lighting and hps as top lights you'll probably get better light penetration from all sides... just a suggestion but really nice grow

@ChumpyChicken2 it's a sealed room. the only air i get if from the ac and co2 tank....the carbon filter if free standing and scrubs the air in the room.
LEDs are good for some stealth grows, esp. when you're using cool white (SMD 5050). Can't say much more about that as my plant went under CFL's during flowering.
That said, I think specific spectrum LEDS (As in, covering the Photosynthetically Active region of light) would be a boon to most HPS growers (In terms of adding to the amount of plant USABLE light!), not all light is equally usable, and I figure any boost to yield is a boost worth investing in :)

@rockondon i've never used any of those products. i'm sorry. but i have heard good things about them. i used to use advanced nutrients with good results and have used a # of products from other companies in the past when i didn't know what i was doing. i now grow TLO(true living organics) where i only use plain water and worm casting teas. all the nutrients are long term and in the soil.and i do have an outdoor grow with coolcat. i'll have updates soon...
@rockondon i never tried to tell people that LEDs make fat buds. mine do work VERY well in veg by themselves,with no heat though. compact and dark green, but i still supliment them with MHs. more LEDs in veg, more MHs in flower. in fact one of my flower rooms doesn't use LEDs at all. 1x400w MH blue hortilux, 2x600w ushio full spectrum, and 2x1000w super HPS hortilux. another with 1x1000w MH and 2xLEDs with 5w diodes, and still another with 2x1000w MHs and 4xLEDs. so i'm fully aware of all lights

most people using LED buy cheaper stuff, and pay big time for it.
LED isnt something you can skimp on, you need full 660ns 2w+ leds anything else
doesnt penetrate, or give off enough light.
Watt for Watt the LED themselfs arent created equal
100 LEDS at 1w each for a 100 watt panel
gives off twice as much light and double penetration over
200 LEDS at .5w each for a 100 watt panel.
theres more to it as well, but u can use google.

too and without hps youd have no buds?ultraviolet hps conversion bulbs create more sugars and a healthier immune system for the plants(full spectrum bulbs.
HPS HAS PROPER SPECS IF YOU LOOK INTO THEM,also add cfls ex the 6500k
mixed in with hps helps out with blue specs and 7800k floro bulbs but with all
that bud it shouldnt matter

@rockondon i go by the chart on the boxes of bolbs and the wavelenghth for the LEDs are also readily available in nanometer ratings. hps lacks in alot of ways. that is why i use a full spectrum mh, and supliment with the usable spectrum to boost resins with the LEDs. again, hps actualy degrade resins at close ranges. i like better quality buds so i smoke less vegitative matter. shit, if i could, i'd only smoke hash and consentrates. i'm trying to harvest THC, not leaves and flower. unusable mass

@rockondon i can not take your lighting advice. i know this much about lighting, and you think that i never used and hps!? i just know what works better in my situation. you can quit now, because there is no way you are going to change my mind that HPS is superior to all other lighting aplications. i'm the one with the light mover actualy mixing lighting and putting this info to use. i realized the benifits of mixing and moving a long time ago. that's why i know they work this way, better.

@rockondon and i'm telling you it helps with resin production. i've done the tests. i've seen the results. i'll just leave you and you cronnies to keep scratching your heads....and i never have and never will use a piece of shit ufo. my LEDs are quality money back guarantee and they work. i never claimed to use them to grow fat buds and niether did anyone else, so stop it. i use them with MHs which is a superior light to HPS, period. you can go compair the spectrums at hortilux web site.bye...

i think LED tends to make alot more crystal than Just hps and or mh,i like to mix all,but put alot more led lighting there if i can afford it,that equipment is expensive
