  • Engineering started without science. Engineering Programs began incorporating basic science in order to survive as a profession. If you look at the curriculum of engineering programs throughout the last half decade, more basic sciences and mathematics were included. The reason, without the progressive basic knowledge of the basic sciences engineering would have been obsolete by the mid 1960s. Most engineering programs today look fragmented physics and chemistry degree programs.

  • The trick is to find the one that pays the highest.

  • 5:17 ... a well informed engineer knows that global warming is fake.Come on guys... check some scientific reports. Too much of Hollywood and Greenpeace?

  • meh

  • Fuck this! *puts back his McDonald Cashier cap*

  • @solidysnake1 can"t tell if your trolling, or just a real fucking dickhead

  • What the flying fuck is the point of an engineer if he doesn't Build his products? he just designs them? what a lazy-ass excuse for a job. I admire Engineering not for it's salaries but it's skill.

  • Yal assholes arguing on youtube???? God damn ... 2 board muthfuckahs who don't got nun betta else to do ...... to answer both of ya questions an seal the deal nobodies equall in the sence of intellegence but if you do have the belief that u could gain the intellegence to suceed in whatever goal ur luking to obtain then u will obtain it simple and plain no need to argue over each others opinions.. that's why its so much problems today.. go pick up a book or some shit jokahs

  • Really? "fuck math" is the top comment on an engineering video? way to show your smarts America

  • @AdMiraLWafFleS18 Aerospace ENgineering student!!

  • all engineers are conceited, egotistical, selfish and vain. That's a fact. Do not become friends with engineers or engineering students! Avoid them! They are the worst type of human beings! Engineers cause the all the world's problems!

  • @solidysnake1 You just sound jealous.

  • If you watched this whole video... engineering is not right for you.

  • In Japan, it is believed that everyone has equal capabilities to learn and be intelligent. This must be great considering they rank number two in the nations with the smartest kids. USA is ranked 14. Think about that. If you really want to do something, you can do it as long as you put in the proper time and effort!

  • @UnderestiSkated lol. Japan is so competitive. If you your parents aren't doctors you can forget about being one. And if they are u start at age 2 starting to study. They test all their children at an early age..and there it pretty much is decided what you should do. Not saying you cant over come the odds with study, but not everyone is considered equal. They weed you out at an early age, but even the ones who aren't at the top have fantastic fundamentals.

  • @heyjustthetip People have different potentials. The lucky ones get more status, respect and money in life. That's the way it is. What the fuck are you going to do?

  • @UnderestiSkated bullshit. Stop giving people false hope by lying. Once they realize they don't cut it they will be extremely disappointed.

  • @solidysnake1 I guess you are one of the people that was sadly told that they weren't good enough. You can't tell whether people can do anything or not. It is up to them, and if they really want to do something like engineering, they are able to with the proper work and studying. Don't get mad because you ended up flipping burgers.

  • @UnderestiSkated You are an idiot. You will never succeed in anything lol

  • @UnderestiSkated Telling people that they can do ANYTHING is just too optimistic and people end up disappointed. People are not equal, people do not have equal capabilities. That is a fact. You act like people have equal capabilities. It must be hard for you to understand. Stop asking people to live up to your expectations.

  • @solidysnake1 I don't have expectations. And if you read my previous comments right, I said that people can do anything in means of EDUCATION. Yes, SOME people are held back due to disabilities and such, but otherwise EVERYONE has an equal chance.

  • @UnderestiSkated You expect everybody to be equal when it is not the case. You basically fail at reading comprehension, I guess your innate genetically determined reading skills is seriously deficient. But I actually think you just too lazy and understand to read my comments, try harder!

  • The fucked up thing about this country is the education system. Who is to say what field is "right" for anyone. People can major in any subject that they like as long as they put in the effort and time. People tend to say that they are just not math type of people or physics type of people, but that is JUST an excuse.

  • @UnderestiSkated Amen, people major in anything. Hey i have a PHD in nose-picking, ass scratching. That is what is wrong.

  • OMFG another fucking indian loser who is an engineer. Go fuck yourself. So many indian engineers still the quality of life in India is still poor as fuck. Fuck engineers.

  • @solidysnake1 You know why? Search up H-1B visa. It's because of dumbass Americans like you that can't handle this kind of job. Instead they hire people from other countries.

  • @skating1611 you are an idiot. They hire from other countries because they are cheaper. India is a barbaric place with barbaric caste system and discrimination against just about everybody. Fuck india.

  • money sucks dick, learning is awesome, religion sucks more dick

  • I'd go for Engineering if I didn't hate Math so damn much. What a shame that so much mathematics is emphasized in these fields.

  • @GoodFellax21 Some engineering fields have much less emphasis on math compared to others. You should look into it, I'm sure there's something there for you if you really want it.

  • @djr4evryone which fields are the ones that don't put as much emphasis on math?

  • @thissmoothie maybe chemical/nuclear. those are more chemistry and physics i think. imo physical and chemical equations are more fun.

  • @ThyrmBloodaxe That's wrong. Chemical has less physics than the others but not less math. Nuclear I'm not so sure of.

  • @thissmoothie To be honest, I'm not really sure. I'm in chemical engineering and it's a common misconception that there is less math in it, when in fact, it has just as much as the other engineering majors. I would probably say industrial systems but I'm not really sure.

  • @djr4evryone Electrical Engineering has more mathematics.

  • watch?v=BZcY4uOzOE0

  • It would probably suit me if it weren't for the part about interpersonal skills. Then again, if you hate people, and your social skills suck, I guess you are doomed regardless of what kind of job you want...

  • @Alexjr1543 You could always go in to politics! Haha.

  • @TumisHumis I'm pretty sure you need good social skills to be an effective liar.

  • @Alexjr1543 You'd be suprized.

  • Global warming? Lol. Yeah, an engineer, definitely not a scientist.... or a good researcher for that matter.

  • @skypilot805 Engineering is one of the most difficult sciences, in fact some of the engineering majors are far more abstract than Physics or any other science.

  • @TumisHumis That's not what I'm getting at. I'm just saying that just because someone's an 'engineer', doesn't necessarily give them a broad scientific understanding. This guy could be an electrical engineer, and know nothing about the way the weather, or planetary evolution works. Mostly, I just really can't stand all the global warming propaganda.

  • @skypilot805 Yeah, I can see where you're coming from, but Engineers are the problem solvers of our world. They solve problems whether they're real, or not. I dismiss global warming, simply because the results of placing regulation on energy production will only hurt the developed world (U.S & Europe) and we have enough problems as it is. China & India are the polluters, and your enviornmental engineering degree won't make them want to change their ways.

  • @TumisHumis I dismiss global warming propaganda because I know it's just a scheme to get people to pay more taxes. I also have a fairly broad understanding of science, and I would say common sense. Carbon dioxide (the stuff plants breath) is NOT the enemy they make it out to be. 750 million years ago CO2 levels in the atmosphere were at 30%, and ice glaciers a mile high at the equator, came and went twice during that period! Today, CO2 levers are at 0.04%.

  • @skypilot805 I'm right there with you on that. Al Gore just bought oceanfront property, and i'm absolutly fine with succesful people spending their money, but I'm not ok with a hypocrit flying around in a private jet with a fleet of S.U.V's telling me to use less electricity/water. I hope the tides do rise a few feet and flood out his new house.

  • @TumisHumis Yeah, I hate Al Gore. Such a lying scumbag. Bill Gates too. Since when does a computer software guy become so knowledgeable and involved in global warming, world vaccinations, and planned parenthood??? Both, are obviously only motivated by money. I'm just really hoping Ron Paul can win the presidency.

  • @skypilot805 I've got nothing against smart people making money off dumb people, but i'm not alright with someone telling me how to live my life. Glad we can agree on Ron Paul, he's probably the last chance for the U.S as we know it.

  • This is a well done video description, given the time limit. There is, of course, much more to the Engineering field. As is alluded to, what you do and where you go is very much up to you; this is a very flexible field. You'll have to start out cutting your teeth on detail work, but it gets easier and more fun and rewarding as you go. If you work well with others and communicate effectively, that's where it all kicks in. Stay humble, responsible, and, well, it all rocks!

  • The basis of Engineering is Math and Physics. You need a solid understanding in both, otherwise you are going to struggle. I took 5 math courses within the Math Department. That does not include all the math that is required for all the other engineering courses. However this may vary from University to University.

  • Holy shit. I'm scared now , I don't want to change my major! Yet, i'm sure that I don't like MATH. Which, according to this guy , is the main course in ENG. ..... HOLY SHIT I'M FREEK IT OUT

  • @Ch3ls4wy I'm a MS in Civil Engineering and I can confirm it to you: Yes, mathematics and physics is the main core of engineering.. Look at it as "applied science", but I had quite a few friends that sucked on math or were very basic on that and they made it, they usually work on construction or project management but don't usually do analysis or design. Paradoxically a project manager usually earns more money than a designer.

  • If only math had anything to do with solving those problems -_^, then hell we'd all appreciate the top comment.

  • nope.avi

  • ChemEngg FTW!!

  • Am I the only one who was not benefited by this?

  • @SL566 YOU ARE ONE OF THE 6

  • @rajatpangtey lol well I didn't dislike it still. I mean, I just thought it would answer my question a little better.

  • @SL566 fair enough

  • @goodfellax21 I'm having the same problem deciding!

  • verbal engineering ftw!

  • Engineering is a great field to study, there are sub categories from A to Z you can choose. Engineer's life is not routing but challenging. It solves real life problems in most efficient and economical ways. I do not agree to the opinion of cjn999 it's medicine boring not engineering. I'm a mining undergraduate and love my field of engineering.

  • However I must say in contrast, I think the way I think as coming from an engineering background is really helpful in life, and I don't think I looked at any technical or non-technical problem the same way. An engineer might be an excellent businessman, movie director, or just about anything.

  • @cjn9999 Bullshit. Most successful individuals in many walks of life were not engineers. Second, Mathematics and Physics in are true fields of problem solving. Engineers take what has been tested and often modify existing technologies which is why technology and engineering principles often become outdated and obsolete such as in electrical engineering. Engineering programs are frauds. Any scientist can design but an engineer without basic science can't do shit.

  • Engineering is not for everybody, few people in the class really have a good handle on things to be an excellent technical engineer. I myself was not one of those people and after getting an ME degree, went to get an MD (medicine). I recommend people to not study engineering, but to go to the best school they can and study anything the like. Engineering is really a boring study and the profession is also very stressful.

  • I'm not the best with problem solving. Is this a natural skill or can you improve your problem solving skills?

  • @loving2221 math enhances analytical skills, do more math, this is why math is so stressed in engineering, not just its application to what engineers do, but it will shape how you reason and solve problems

  • I absolutely LOVE science, but I'm honestly not too strong in math =(

Does anyone think I could still pursue a career in engineering despite this issue?

  • Comment removed

  • currently studying civil engineering to BEng at the moment, if I get good enough grades I can move up to the MEng and become chartered :) loving it so far.

  • can someone help?!?

im in love with physics and i enjoy math.. i like to solve problems in real life and like to know how everything works. Some say EE is the career i should pursue. any1 can suggest anything please?

    thanks from advance

  • @2Garyable All engineers do a ton of math up at least up through Diff EQ. but EE's do a little more math.If you like physics and math any type of engineering is a good choice. Mech E's typically take a few circuits classes and some EE programs offer Thermo as a technical elective. So, there is some overlap in the fields so you can take intro classes to figure out what you like best. Also, Comp E. and EE are super similar that a lot of people double major. Do what you like

  • chemical engineering FTW

  • fuck math

  • @GunZTube1 math just fucking pwned you. thats a proof of how awesome it is.

  • Comment removed

  • @GunZTube1

    Fuck off cunt.

  • @GunZTube1 fuck engineers

  • @GunZTube1 Considering how many people (a large percentage of humans) have a problem with math, it makes ya wonder if we as a species were meant to know about it. I think a better way of thinking about math is that it's going to undoubtedly be responsible in propelling humanity faster up the evolutionary scale. Words, literature, and speaking can only do so much to enlighten us, as social tools. Math allows us to think like machines, and then make machines to assist us think.

  • @Warghost1000 The point is to solve problems not just compute answers.

  • @Warghost1000 I don't believe that you know what you are talking about, sir/madame.

  • @rygor42 Of course you don't. But that's okay, you couldn't even accurately estimate if I am a male/female based on my avatar and username. Again, book smarts don't equate to common sense, as you've clearly displayed. I'm sure there's a decent reason why you may have assumed I might be female, considering my YouTube name is Warghost. But, I digress. My point still stands: humans are becoming more mathematical, which will affect the path of our evolution.

  • Is there a similarity between Industrial engineering and Manufacturing engineering?

  • @taajiir123 they are similar in that they are the same field. Just different names :)

  • Mechanical engineers build the weapons. Civil engineers build the targets.

  • petroleum ..

  • mechanical

  • um is there anyone here who's an engineer i can interview???

  • spah sappin' mah dispenser

  • Boo... Buffalo, I hate you.

  • @PolitcalIslam haha

  • i want to design electronics what type of engineer does this?

  • @eletrizity23 electrical

  • I loathe math. I'm indifferent about physics. But I'm a good problem solver. I don't like programming, although designing interests me & I like to create things. So now who here would say engineering is something I should put interest into?

  • @Brewbaby14 >loathe math

    >Engineering is basically ALL math

You could go for engineering management.....you still direct problem-solving, but lighter on the math

  • @Brewbaby14

U like to create things....but you dont like physics or math.... and you like to create things and design......you could be an engineer, you just gotta take interest in math, and physics, and get motivated and innovated, also, like the video said, you gotta learn how to visualize or better yet "imagine" the components and figure away to remodel them conveniently. And uhhh.. ya gotta work hard. i also had these questions since i myself am a high-schooler and am aiming for engineerin

  • @Brewbaby14 maybe an engineering technician, which is someone who works alongside an actual engineer strictly hands on, where you actually build something piece by piece and test it to see if it works according to the engineer's instructions and layout

  • damn that indian guy moves his head a lot

  • Poot dispenser here!

  • my average in math is 85 and my physics is 77 am I gonna be a good engineer ???

  • MCA is equivalent to ME (Computer Science and Engineering)

MCA with B.Sc. (Computer Science) background is equivalent to ME (Computer Science and Engineering).

    B.Sc. Computer Science (3 Yrs) + MCA (3 Yrs) = 6 Years.

    BE Computer Science (4 Yrs) + ME (2Yrs) = 6 Years.

MCA and ME both are equal.

Companies giving equal priority to both MCA and ME.

Master of Computer Applications MCA and Master of Engineering ME, are treated Same for jobs and there is no difference in the competence ratings.

  • 5 people( guys who put dislike) dint get thigh enough of theyre university entrance score to get into it in uni.

  • @kuyanatnatdkrx7 I got into uni 5 years ago but I didn't get into engineering. I had to settle for this ridiculous mathematics degree. My commulative gpa wasn't high enough, even though I had individual outstanding grades from difficult subjects. I have two patents to my name, and the bastards still don't let me in. The crux of the matter is that I am tired of it all. I feel like my life is going down the gurgler. It has to do with my nerves. I am tired of life.

  • great stuff

  • Well i can build a sentry and a dispencer so i guess thta makes e a engineer

  • I got a 27 on my ACT, with 30 on the math section. Could I get into engineering school? I am also not a super math genius; I like math a lot, but I'm concerned it would be too difficult to make it through Mechanical Engineering. Does anybody know if I should try it or not? Or have any advice for me?

  • Its right for u if u like to build dispensers, sentrys, and teleporters all day long. But watch out for those pesky spies!

  • Can you solve pratical problems?

  • Hey look buddy, an engineer. That means I solve problems. Not problems like "what is beauty?" Because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems. For instance, How am I gonna stop some big mean mother hubbard tearing me a structurally superfluous new behind? The answer? use a gun. And if that don't work, use more gun. Like this heavy caliber, tripod mounted little old number designed by me, built by me and you'd best hope not pointing at you.

  • @porque117 TF2 FTW

  • very inspiring

  • who in the hell do u think u are?

u are a piece of ..., short stuff!

  • well done production

  • good video.

  • Nope.avi

  • well guys i know what engineering is but i am badly confuse because i love engineering but my back ground is all business and i will after my undergraduation will join business too xD is engineering still right for me? I thought since engineering is my passion i will do it and on last year i will also take management course and after degree i will jump in in business. sounds good?

  • @THEBIGCAGEY lolz xd

  • I did think about a career in engineering, but in order to get more kids in to this profession it has to start at pre-k with developmental math and then you have to re enforce it every year so that kids will be good at math and then they gotta take chemistry and physics in high school. but the biggest problem with the us educational system is that math and science is not equally funded in public schools.

  • view please:

    fundingeducation.webs.com

  • Structural Engineering .... that's the way guys.

  • I'm thinking about doing Social Work as a degree in college; while I love the idea of working with people on a day-to-day basis, I also love that I can provide a good life for myself through engineering (i.e., good money!)

Should someone who's more liberal-artsy do engineering? What's some of the "fun" things about engineering?

  • people please keep leaving comments about the video, in my case, the comments helped more than the actual video.. thanks

  • i like seeing his eyes go back and forth as he reads the cue cards

  • I'm doing a dual degree with mechanical engineering and business management. I felt that all the stuff they teach in business has zero real world application value, and no one is going to let you manage their business when you just graduated university. If you want a real degree that get you somewhere, go for engineering.

  • Lol I like how they dont mention. . 'Do you enjoy incredibly inexplicably difficult courses/classes?'. . .If so, then engineering is for you :)

  • Mechanical Engineering FTW!!!

  • @RTRVII whats ftw?

  • @fashanu1000 "For The Win" ;)

  • Forget engineering if you want job security. You will also top out quickly in salary and watch all your business major buddies surpass you in their early 30s. Engineers are considered a fixed labor cost that many companies seek to reduce by performing all engineering functions in third world countries. Good luck with this career but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

  • Solution: people should stop FUCKING without a glove!

  • I'm pretty sure that anyone who clicked on this video already knew the answer........

  • im going in to mechanical engineering or an automotive technican

  • be an engineer, it's worth it

  • I changed my mind when she said "communication skills".I'm very socially inept.

  • I'm entering college next year, for mechanical engineering. But I am terrible at math, although it's my favorite subject and enjoy it, I get an awesome feeling when I understand something. I don't know if I should still consider engineer because of my math skills.

  • @Xonipher After two years in college I finally realized that is not about being good at anything like if by magic...is about being able to do your own research about things you didnt understand and figure them out on your own time. I think about 60%-80% of things that they teach in school are forgoten by the time we graduate, but again..is about proving that you can research and figure things out, not proving that you have a great memory.

  • What causes an electric motor to spin or move forward and back? We know that electricity (electric current) is applied to it. However, when it reaches the metallic motor what causes it to function? What in electricity inside the metal cause it to move?

  • Nuclear Engineering and Structual (Civil) for me.

But Electrical, Mining and Mechanical is pretty intresting too.

  • Be a Scout they are faster and they double jump lol

  • @GrounderTheRobot yea but building turrets is fun

  • @tjv323

    You mean Sentry Mister!

  • love the idea of basically all engineering. but dislike math.... :-/.I'm guessing that isn't a good thing.

  • I disagree with the breaking down of complex systems. I'm studying to be an ecological engineer, and one thing I've learned is that looking at a system, any system, holistically is important. Because emergent properties are often present (especially in ecosystems). Yes breaking things down is still a part of it, but you can't forget to look at the big picture! Looking at little pieces doesn't always tell an observer how the entire system interacts.

  • i am a sophomore electrical engineering student. it's very hard and challenging. but it's also fun. ENGINEERING RULES!!

  • Comment removed

  • i want, and probably will go for my bachelors in civil engineering. im just scared it will be too hard.

  • @YourADrag dont worry mate, just started my degree in civil, just practice your maths at the end of the day after every lesson and you will be fine :)

  • @Exutus yes, there is a tipping point - hang in there, you'll do fine.

  • I switched from Chemical to Aerospace and now I'm thinking about Mechanical...

  • @IMmoreRANDOMthanYOU some colleges offer an AE degree(BS) with only about another year of school after going through your typical ME classes for B.S. 2 colleges in st. louis do so it should be pretty common in most large cities

  • You too can be overworked, underpaid and get less respect than the typing pool or a guy who cleans toilets. All you have to do is waste years of your life studying to work in jobs that will all be outsourced to India or China.Go into banking instead and you get bonuses for screwing up or doing well.

  • @Silkie341 Possibly, But if banking doesn't interest you at all?

  • I'm studying to become a civil engineer of building and enviromental tecnology :D

  • I got lucky and had work pay for my engineering school.

  • Sentry Down!

  • How do you know if you are wise enough to make an engineering degree?

  • i really want to be an engineer, i either want to do robotics or make motors, like cars and aioplanes and stuff like that, i dont know if they are the same thing tho, cuz im not even in highschool yet

  • Buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo...

  • Electronic Engineering is very tricky!

  • Well i love physics i just understand it quite good and it's really useful in many aspects, but math..a real problem to me,i dont dont understand how can you use it in life...Well maybe sometimes when i need to calculate smth in physics...

  • @fredis777 I'm studying engineering right now. And you have to know that when you gain more and more knowledge of physics, you'l need an increasing amount of mathematics of increasing difficulty. Maths and physics are linked to each other, so if you want to learn one of them you'll certainly will be confronted by the other, and that's especially true for physics ;) You can hate math as much as you want but at a certain level you'll see that you can apply maths to explain nearly everything

  • Does anyone know of any universities that specialize in Automotive Engineering?

  • @thekkl

    just go mechanical engineering

  • i go to this fucking school ! lol

  • 65% of engineering grads, in the U.S., leave the country?

  • can i ask everyone a question

i'am 25 and thinking about a career in engineering and computer science

iam great in math,i speak LISP,c++,java, linux

so far ive been working low end jobs

and always had a passion for this kind of work

    iam self taught as well

serious question i hope some wouldnt mind to answer
