It may be more accurate to state that only simple people are happy rather than dumb people. I find that many of the mindless, herd instinct types are very mentally competent in a practical, common sense way, but they just lack the desire to expand their minds. One type of intelligence is very efficient in producing things of technical merit, whereas the other is creatively rooted.

I think overall, the interpretation of knowledge determines the happiness of an intelligent person. Many intelligent people come to deep realizations very early in their lives and don't have the experience to understand why it's necessary that certain things in life happen, and become too disillusioned to explore further, cutting off their development. Whereas those who haven't come to those realizations leave their minds more open and malleable (perhaps the wisest thing to do).

Reminds me of a friends account of a performer who's "mad" onstage but self conscious unless in his home environment, and also is drug free, unless counting getting drunk when encountering his public. Recently I did a presentation in front of mates for Uni', also I got attacked by 2 dogs at work, I'd rather have the dogs again, any day. Knowing Katie personally, she is very uncomfortable when she's not on stage, when she's not got the band alongside her and she squirms under scrutiny. perhaps i'm on drugs too, but i seem to identify with everything she said...especially with regard to the range of incidental audio frequencies in the audible world, makes sense when viewed in light of her work. Daisy Chainsaw's first record "Eleventeen" seemed to echo all of these concepts. there were a lot of weird noises packed into that record, and maybe it went right over the heads of people who liked the single "Love Your Money"...but i loved it.

My belief, now, is that she has Asperger's Syndrome, which is classed as a very mild form of Autism. I have it myself, and I recognise a lot of traits and mannerisms she has, because I share the same. People with it are often intelligent and insightful, but social interaction can be something they have some trouble with. There are moments when they can be fine, and others, where they just do not feel comfortable.

We *don't* label everyone as having it. But a) She displays classic mannerisms of it, b) Her discussion of music and what she does is enthusiastic in the extreme, almost obsessive, and c) last year, she donated an unidentified art piece of her own making to Spectrum, an Autistic charity. Whilst not irrefutable evidence, I'd say that makes for a strong case.
