  • Isn't there some alternate install so the user can input their stuff?

  • pretty woman, and runs linux.... thats not rare or anything

  • If it makes you feel better, I completely did *NOT* notice your lips moving.

  • Linux mint rules.. oh no wait, there was a girl in this vid too.. :)

  • Nixi, can you load Mint over or with Ubuntu 11.10....wheezy/sid and what would the outcome be? Would it be better?

  • You are not really a geek or nerd but, a wannabee!

  • +1 for pedobear and children safety :D

  • i hate chris pirillo. the man is a moron

  • Nixie Pixel + Laci Green........urrrrrgh!

  • Pedo Bear?

  • GO TO HELL BEAR

  • ( o Y o )

  • How do i put linuxmint-8.iso on my laptop. i have it on a cd and i put it in the laptop and i push ESC and then i push boot from cd and then my cd spwn insife but it whant boot it just gos to windows xp.

    please messege me.

  • @oooz2live did you burn the ISO on the CD or did you just put the ISO on the CD cause that would do it... and if you did then did you put the CD upside down?....

  • These days PinguyOS is the "awsome Linux". Based on Ubuntu taking the "Mint" experience a step further :)

  • @450saay Well you dont need /home partition. I use one so I can more easily resize it. Also there is change that the partition dies and having /home die on itself is way better than whole root. Also same /home can be used by lets say Ubuntu and Mint if its separate from root.

  • WOW! ....Finally a hot girl whose video is educational.

  • forget about linux , and all the OS . just wants to say AWESOME BOOBS .

  • I had a question about the root and the home partition. I duel booted XP and Pinguy OS, Linux. The video's I watched on setting up the partitions, only said to use / and swap area. Is there a reason to use home along with root? I only used the / and swap area, it seems to be working fine. Did I do it wrong and do I need to have home part of the partition? This is the first time I have seen or read about including a home to the partition. Thanks.

  • You should use UNETbootin. That program makes your USB stick into a install cd. Much easier than burning on cd.

  • @Nikotiini69 I prefer to use Universal USB Installer. :)

  • Nixie, Nixie

    u are great.

  • Oh look we now love cute pedobear next we explain our children who he is and then legalize pedophilia. Good work idiots.

  • @damnhereiam Pedophilia is legal anyway. It's the destructive acts that tend to come with pedophilia that are illegal. Pedophilia is the attraction to children, and you can't arrest someone for how they feel, just what they do with how they feel.

  • I'm sorry, but I am finding it hard to concentrate on the linux installation when you have such awesome tits... I have done the SAME thing for countless numbers of people, and yet I find myself getting lost with what you are doing in the video. Seriously, You have a gift. :P

  • I used to have a dual boot system; Windows 7 Ultimate for my gaming appetite and photo/video editing with Photoshop and Vegas & Linux for my word processing stuff and browsing. But now I have a Mac and abandoned Ubuntu completely. I use my Mac for editing stuff, word processing, and occasionally gaming, and my PC for heavy gaming.

  • Just got to the USB response... If that mod is done incorrectly, you can permanently brick a USB drive. You don't have to worry about when burning a CD or DVD.

  • Skip the swap file. It's a waste of HDD space if you're rocking more than 1GB of RAM.

  • @Toddimyre Depends on if you compile software I guess. I use my swap space all the time with 2gb of RAM

  • You should install Gentoo.

  • Those are Stupendous.

  • Linux would be the most amazing thing ever if it had more support. Microsoft makes it hard for developers to develop software for Linux because of ties that get the stuck using Directx. OpenGL, is the better option, but were stuck to tolerate DirectX..eh

  • @ruinairas Depends if you're into games I guess. For my Linux is the most amazing thing ever!

  • @22ness0hayden I agree, although gaming isn't bad on Linux right now anyway. Most of the best games available work flawlessly on wine. :)

  • nice big tits

  • your are alot better Chris. he is very annoying and is not as smart as he thinks he is.

  • I FUCKING WANT THAT BEAR !

    PEDOBEAR FOR PRESIDENT!

    CAPS LOCK FUCK YEAH!

  • missy Seems like you REALLY like YOUR make up {yikes}

linux not just for geeks anymore shucks

    good stuff REALLY girly girl

make up makes the WORLD go round thankyou very much

  • i <3 busty nerd girls :)

  • damn!!! that chest!!!

  • Thanks for the info, i love you

  • Time waster: Gentoo.

  • puppies!

    LOL @ mint O_o

  • You mean to tell me I didn't win? This is preposterous! "Mint" a secret linux?

  • imgburn is way easyer and free

  • Further from Debian and Redhat the more headaches.

  • Hi Nixi! Im from Chicago I 'm watching and learning all about Ubuntu thanks hugs!!!!

  • @TheLowermen lol, do you disrespect women to feel better about yourself...because some girl/women broke your hart once?

    i feel sorry for you...really.

    : (

  • I want a little pedobear

  • Pedo Bear! d'oh! Nixie, you are mentally dislocated. I absolutely love it. Best regards!

  • I still use Mint 10, but KDE version. Nice to see you helping the newbies. I do my installs just like that. 15G /, ramX2 swap and the rest for /home.

  • @TheLowermen she's just a 'type of girl' that doesnt wear make-up ALL THE TIME to please guido's like you.

    Also: me gusta

  • It may be more convincing if you have a plush penguin between your tits.

    Just a thought.

  • Thank you for using linux AND having cleavage - a combination rarely found in the wild.

  • @insperatus Not so I know a lot of Linux geeks with a cleavage!

  • too bad there's not more girls like you

  • I like to listen to Leo on KFI on Sunday

  • I subbed do I get a laptop now :)

  • Nixie, you should remove that damned Windows-sticker... :P

  • @123jeez agreed I take mine off. I even have a mouse with a red X over the M$ logo on it written in sharpie.

  • natural or fake ??

  • @Djazeiry natural of course, and I like them!!!!

  • @OldoakJack ok lol

  • shiny

  • I always carry a copy of the latest Ubuntu distro, I burn it with Imgburn onto a small 1.4GB DVD-R disk.

Whenever there is a PC emergency, I whip out my dick, I mean my disk. and boot up Ubuntu LiveCD and everthing is ok. 8)

  • @da1ved I use my "tinycore" whenever there is a problem.

  • what about linux distro for handheld E.G. an android x

  • @adamstoby96 android is linux

  • youtube, Il canto della Rondine (Hirundo rustica)

  • I do not understand English.

  • Push up bras FTW!

  • Nixie is beautiful but her videos are informative and easy to take in, from a technical standpoint. These videos help a lot of people.

  • What Pedobear^^ cool! XDD

  • @Nixie You have made Ubuntu fun! I have never learned how to use it until your first channel. You have taught me a lot. I hope you have a great day! I would love if you would message me some time! Thanks! God Bless!!

  • @Nixie in Canada G4TECHTV is a cable channel and Leo Laporte has his own show on it called The Lab...I am not sure if its reruns but its fillmed in Canada and the one of the big cable companies owns the rights for Canada called *cough* Rogers tip they Toronto Blue Jays which may explain a lot lol jking..I am looking for a better video cam to do my videos since using my 3G phone sucks lolz but oh well going to get a better one at the end of May YAY!!!

  • Correction USB is much easyer (if your using win then LinuxLive USB Creator) linuxliveusb com

Just pick the linux Distro and the usb drive from the list, it downloads it and just choos u want a static or dynamic live usb, and if you want a virtualbox on there to be able to run linux inside windwows os, and make, it does everything else, formats the usb and so one. It takes only few minutes if u allready have an linux .iso file (can choos a file too not only download).

  • Linux at this point is more for techies who know the in's and out's of a computer system. I love Ubuntu, it is way more powerful than Windows with the right tools.

  • There are two problems with Linux... One is that it is either trying to be Windows (KDE) or OS X (Gnome)... Two, they do not woo enough of the developers of mainstream apps like Photoshop (GIMP Sucks compared to PSCS 5) and these two areas really need to change. I'm glad Ubuntu recognizes part of this issue.

  • If I had to look for wireless drivers in the package manager,I would not know what to ask for. Or even if they were right for my computer. So it is not so simple on Linux. Andrea Borman.

  • Well,I have tried several brands of Linux and none of them are easy to use like Windows is. And on most brands of Linux,I could not even connect to the Internet. Because they would not recognize my wireless drivers. So I could not even use Ubuntu for that reason. Unless I stayed on wired broadband, which I did not want to do. Linux is very difficult to use. It is not like Windows, which is very user friendly. Andrea Borman.

  • Linux is not user friendly. It is also very slow and crashes a lot. The biggest problem I had when I tried Linux was the absence of the start menu. So I could not navigate the settings and the search bar is not like Windows Search in Windows 7. So I still could not find the settings like I can on Windows. Linux Mint is made to look more like Windows, so it is easier to find things. But Windows is better than Linux. Andrea Borman.

  • @andrea22borman Windows is much better than Linux, and is more user friendly. You do not need passwords with windows.

  • @gmcbuses it's not "better" it's the more pushed Operating System, that's why all the companies makes software for windows, cause that it's the target.

If it all the operating system could have the same numbers of programmers as for windows, you will see windows over linux for sure, but not like 95% windows 1% linux, but 60% windows 30% linux 10% macs.

  • Lol... mentioning chris pirillo ... nah he aint a bad guy, ... just a stupid fuck.

:D You know, stupid fucks are not bad they are just.... stupid!

  • thanks yoou video has so helpful ,

  • Sure looks a lot better than Joan Rivers! ;-*

  • can u tutor me..lol..seriously.

  • she comes off as a girl that wouldnt give a shit if her boobs were hanging out.

  • Although ext4 gives you faster boot times, if you plan on dual-booting with Windows, I'd recommend sticking with ext3 so that Windows/DOS-based utils such as Acronis Disk Director or Partition Wizard will be able to manage and resize both Windows NTFS and your Linux ext3 partitions as needed.

  • Pedobear sure does know his Linux distros!

  • Pedo Bear! :D

  • hey, I wona watch your LIVE broadcast... Where ? When ??

  • I use either Nero, IMGBurn, or Windows Disc burner on Windows.

I use Brasero on Ubuntu (or whatever the default is)

  • PedoBear FTW!

  • Burn an iso image to cd...???? Nixie???? You just need to create a iso bootable 8gb flash drive...Cd's are soooo yesterday :)))

  • Rzimmer, i did the same with my first Ubuntu install, sigh good days -3 but i got tired of it and now I use Debian 6 stable :)

  • Ya know Miss Nixie .. I really wish Skype, Crysis, Warhead, BFBC2, GRID and all the other goodies was available for Linux .

Have you ever thought about doing a Computer Build for one of your videos ?

  • I use Linus Mint 9, I love it! Just a prettied up Ubuntu :)

  • @Prescottech Agreed, im used universal usb installer to put it on my usb. Im going to buy a 8 gb usb tomorrow and install it to the usb from the live CD.

  • @Prescottech You should upgrade to Linux Mint 10.

  • @MarrkDaviid I tried 10, but was not happy with it. It had a few issues, so I went back to 9.

  • Comment removed

  • @yodaisadragqueen first i did finally get my password so all is good. second i am disabled because i had over 16 operations due to severe accident. i had multiple back and neck operations and multiple stomach operations. i can't walk any more as i am a paraplegic now and i have very limited range of motion in my arms and hands. my eyes are just fine. i wanted mint because it works right out of the box with everything working. other distro's need more work.

  • i do watch legend of the seeker and i read the series the sword of truth and they are awesome. i wish they would make a movie series out of it like they did harry potter. i think that would be awesome.

  • I want me a paedobear!! :D

  • Nixie, what is your fav distro?

  • I usually prefer to put it on USB via Unetbootin, but Brasero works well enough for me when it comes to CD burns.

  • the freaking guy chose Mint? hahaha

Next time choose Slack, Arch, etc.. since she said you can't choose Gentoo, I would love have seen Nixie installing Gentoo tho'

  • K3b

  • nice pair... totally turned my software into hardware :D ... no but really Ubuntu or Mint ??

  • @NeztyKash For me they're exactly the same but I like Mint's desing better. Yeah I know they can be customized to look like each other but meh, it's better this way.

  • Pedo bear! I'm your fan!

Ubuntu or Mint? that's my biggest question

  • ...well, I did load Mint1010 and ran it for a week and first it lost my eth0 connection by driver failure,,,then as I was trying to reload it and reignite it --- it took 3 times of a reboot to come back alive...no...Ubuntu is way more stable...and I'm happy it's not loaded with tons of stuff I don't use...I enjoy loading what I want...that was the first intentions of Ubuntu...get what you want and made Ubuntu yours. Mint is good...but, Ubuntu is Great! Linus runs Ubuntu!!! also...

  • just one hint a good program for writing usb image files is usb-imagewriter

  • I think you're top of you

  • Nixie, ur a bit mad, but very lovely all the same! Ur videos are great. R u on tv anywhere? We used to have loads of computer game shows in England, now none, very sad indeed. I reckon ud be very good at that, and quite camera friendly too.

  • i just use ubuntu/mint 10 on my computer and my computer got a ubuntu sticker and no windows anymore...and im glad that i just using LINUX on it...i did it before that already it right...but nixie good tutorial

  • Okay - here I go again...gonna load Mint 10 (latest) on a AMD X2 3ghz w/RAID1 500 Hitachis (7200) and 4 Gigs RAM showing on nVidia 8400 256mb...I'll load it straightaway with absolutely no fixin' anything. I'll run 3D graphics with Compiz and HD sound...then swirl it around and bang it up and down and see if the Cube sticks or if the whole screen goes black and I can't get my GUI back like the last time(s) I've had the same problem...and I do make my own menus in Gnome...which isn't saying much.

  • I am tring to build a MAME machine I would be greatful for any tips and advice anyone is willing to give.

  • @ctbolin Look into the WahCade project.

  • @ringo10190 pretty much any machine will run ubuntu very well. im running it on an acer 3680 made in 2007 and it runs perfectly smooth.

  • Slackware Nixie, Gentoo Nixie! LFS Nixie! PLEASE!

    No, seriously.....

  • You have a nice rack Nixie, me likey

  • pedo bear = not funny...

  • swap = ram X 2? that means i'll have to boot live cd and use g-parted again lol

still getting the hang of it.

pretty happy using ubuntu as of recent weeks :) i kinda prefer to use it over xp now

ps, i once purchased windows 7 ultimate for the sake of 64bit, epic fail, i uninstalled it completely after no longer than 2 weeks

  • @kinga303 well for swap there are different schoo of thinking

the idea "swap = ram x 2" is slightly outdated i think: nowadays pc have usually 2gb+ of ram, and you probably will never exceed that limit. I think if you have 2gb of ram or more u could safely dedicate only 2 gb of ram as your swap.

By the way, i don't think windows 7 is an epic fail, i think is a good version: if you can run it, and need to have windows, i think is worth the update form xp, that's outdated as hell (9 years old)

  • I didnt listen.. im just watching titties..

  • Linux Mint SUCKS!!! All kinds of gadgets -- great...but, the GUI is about as UNSTABLE as you can get one to be. I've loaded Linux Mint several times over the years -- with most all the various version numbers...and although it looks great and I wish it would work as well....I'll stick with Gnome Ubuntu and use my own Menu fabrication which is very close to Linux Mint's. It's not that hard.

  • @bavaneche Mint 10 is awesome and works better than Ubuntu i think because mint installs everything you need where ubuntu you still have to install some missing things to play certain files or watch on a browser. i found nothing wrong with mint 10 menus and i find it way more stable than ubuntu. i use mint 10 gnome with no problems ever. if you like ubuntu so much why do you try to make menu's look like mints? did you try mint 10? it just depends on what you like as each is person different

  • Zeddicus Zul Zorander from Terry Goodkind's The Sword of Truth series and also the television show The Legend Of The Seeker.

You should watch Legend Of The Seeker, it's fucking awesome. Well, it was awesome until they canceled it. DAMN THEM TO HADES!!!

  • @67576856666478964567 there is talk there will be another season as many were yelling for another season. so right as of now it is in the works and i will be looking forward to another great season! i read all the books and love the series the legend of the seeker. i also love the series Merlin and they will be doing another season as well but it will run in the uk first then come here so be on the look out for that too. you can see Merlin on the sci-fi channel.

  • @rzimmer1

LOTS was canceled a long time ago. There will be no 3rd season.

  • @67576856666478964567 Mike Sussman, the writer and co-executive producer for the show, reassured fans that this is not the end of LOTS: It looks like now, Tribune stations will be dropping LOTS, but the series will continue on other stations. stated by SciFiMafia at scifimafia com so the series will not be dead it will be moved to other stations and scifimafia will announce the channels when they are released. so keep eyes open there will be a season 3

  • @rzimmer1

Bridget Osterhaus, the show’s publicist at ABC Disney, has just confirmed for the third time: “No. A third season of Legend of the Seeker will not be produced.”

  • @67576856666478964567 i know abc will not be doing it like i said it will be done an it will be shown on a different network which will be announced which network at a later date. so we will just have to wait and see.

  • I wish Nixie was installed on my laptop. ;-)

  • install sabayon linux

  • I want you to install gentoo linux (:

  • I guarantee you that most males looked at her chest as soon as the vid started playing.

  • @OsodeCaram3lo guilty

  • @OsodeCaram3lo Yes and it's a known fact that a women is more likely to get more views on youtube videos than a man for that reason ... You don't think she knows that ? it's the oldest trick in the book T.V. commercials have been doing this for years.

  • @OsodeCaram3lo

her chest is the only thing that took my eyes off her shiny face.

  • @evildarkfallen - too bad you can't focus on what she's actually saying.

  • @ytuser13082011 i had to watch it a second time but i get what she is saying. Don't get me wrong i love Linux but when a really hot girl talks about it i find it hard to focus. cheers to Nixie for being a hot, witty Linux fan girl. i watch all of her vids.

  • @OsodeCaram3lo You think she wore a low cut top and had the webcam angled downward by accident? This is like a sex cam for nerds.

  • @OsodeCaram3lo I can also guarantee that Nixie does that on purpose.

  • @OsodeCaram3lo Nonsense, I look at her face when she talks. Nerdy chick <3.

  • Um, thanks for helping everyone. You are pretty, you are smart.

Drop the pedo bear. You are better than that, and you don't need to go there.

It's really not funny, and I'm a sick bastard.

  • Hate glossy screens... especially 15' :D

  • I really don't like the graphics intaller programas BTW there's no reason for using windows anymore, Gnu/linux its really easy ( but I prefer OpenBSD)

  • @hellertytus Well, openbsd is good for a router, or a firewall dedicated machine, but use it for your desktop? It's like using a tank to go to the supermarket! =)

  • i cannot stop looking at her titis

  • On root i give 7000-10000 MB. No swap. Rest on /home.

  • i agree with you on the usb/dvd bit, especially sins older versions of bios doesn't support booting from it.

  • dont think it's wise telling everyone someone computer name etc :P

good tech talks though, keep it up

  • LOL yeah Linux is flawless:P cant even shut down

  • HAHAHA she's got a Pedo-bear

  • @chillart02 Well havn't tried that lol-feature but suspending it gave a multiple screen lock and LM froze sometimes

  • I don't know, my idea is that if a distro won't fit on a cd, ther'e too much fat in it.

  • Great vid!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One part of installing any operating system (non-Windows) is to carefully take off the "Designed for Windows what-ever" -logo so that no-one can see it used to run it.. :)

  • Nixie, you look tired in this video.

  • Speaking of Mints, you should do a show where you install MiNT on an Atari Falcon 030. If you did this I would build an effigy of you and worship it every day.

  • @Hulsie Linux Mint will never be ported to the Atari Falcon. You might be able to install Debian M68k (Woody), but if you do get the x-server running, you will probably need to use a minimal window manager like Fluxbox or WindowMaker. If you are really interested in getting Linux running on the old Atari, that is likely your only option these days. Good luck!

  • @redoscar3 I meant MiNT, an alternate OS for Atari, not Linux Mint.

But I am going to try to put a Linux variant on there some day, I just haven't done any research yet.

  • @Hulsie So sorry, I wasn't familiar with MiNT for the Atari and didn't make the connection. I never had a Falcon or TT-030, but used the ST and Mega 4 ST for many years before moving to the PC. Anyway, good luck getting MiNT running on that Falcon. And to stay on topic, thank goodness for GNU/Linux and Linux Mint.

  • Awh =)

That was a cute vid <3

I like ya, do wish wasn't lotsa pervy comments sometimes but oh well, funny vid aswell espesh cos recorded live XD

    Good stuff much love :)

  • Ewwww! The laptop has a "Made for Windoze" sticker on it! Lose that before you ship his laptop!

  • You might want to remove the "Designed for Windows" sticker. :)

  • @bozzioisgod44 my friend removed the windows sticker and bought a linux sticker off of ebay and put it on in the windows stickers place. so the laptop is an official linux machine!

  • nixie! just an update the computer is awesome! it works perfect and does everything that i want it to! i am having no problems at all with linux mint or the com
