  • 12/19/2011 - Ahhh you just missed the big Blizzard hitting SW Kansas and N.E. New Mexico - thats a good thing !

  • What songs did you use? Good choice ....and oh you just earned a subscriber!

  • @Physicspilot Thanks. Belinda Carlisle - Vision Of You and Billy Squier - The Stroke

  • Last thing, I believe that aircraft at 4:25 is a Beech Duchess. Seneca's aren't T-tails.

  • @RippedWookie or possible a piper seminole?

  • @cholubaz I thought it might have been that too but I noticed that fuselage, right before the empenage, was a lot longer on the Seminole rather than the Duchess when comparing pictures online. If you pause the video right as the aircraft passes and compare pictures online with the video, you will see what I mean.

  • @RippedWookie You're right, it's not a Seneca. I should know - I bloody trained on them!

  • Not to be picky, but have you ever stopped on the runway, powered up to 100%, and then let off the brakes to get the most out of your bird on those high and hot departures? I noticed you like rolling starts :)

Great videos as always and look forward to more!

  • @RippedWookie Thanks. I have done so on really short fields, but she doesn't pull entirely straight and has a tendency to go a bit left, so if I have rwy I like to lead a bit with the left engine to keep her straight with power until the rudder gets effective. The straight tail 520's take a little longer to get rudder effectiveness compared to the later models with the swept tail.

  • @stratobee I see. Very interesting to know!

  • @RippedWookie I might also add that the steering on the Aero Commander is its achilles heel. It has hydraulic steering actuated by slight toe pressure, but on 90% of them it doesn't work very well. And if you press too hard, you go into differential breaking. So it's hard to stay straight on a runway with steering alone and not dig into the brakes which will slow you down, so I prefer to use differential power.

  • @stratobee Very interesting! At least there is another form of steering to be used in lieu of the hydraulic steering.

I enjoy your first hand information on the Commanders. I would absolutely love to own one some day and your videos get me that much closer to them.
