  • very nice. i think the reflections are almost perfect.

  • bob ross episodes on my channel

  • It a good painting you will be a great painter

Next video talk more exited with passion

    your work it's fine

92 % of people can even draw a square

    So be more assertive

    Believe in your self !!!

    You got potential

    Jv

  • its not bad

  • good job man

  • i wanna fucking see bob ross painting some sick pictures and not some dude showing shit in tha cam oO

  • If that was only your 4th attempt you did great. Don't really about the comments from the sub 50 IQ wannabee losers. LOL

  • hey man this is a really awesome painting, fairplay :) one thing you could try with the bushes if you aren't happy with them is to contrast the shades more and use small daubs of paint to give the leaf effect but i think they look perfectly fine as they are. could you tell me the technique you've used to paint the pine trees in the distance please?

  • good painting! i really like it!!

  • Nice. But remember, "pure hwhite is disturbing".

  • Are you Antonio Banderas?

  • @nonikita hahhaha no I´m not, but why???

  • @shybuttcute

I don't know, your voice reminds me of him :D

  • Nice painting. But I gotta say, love your voice.

  • It's good. Seriously I like it!

  • The water is amazing. This is really good

  • the mountains arent bad mate you are doing well.... CHEERS and happy painting.

  • wow you did a great job! it's very beautiful. if you want a lil constructive criticism- soften your mountains, so they are not so triangular. still looks great. i want to try this so bad!

  • Nice work. :) I'm going to start painting. I love watching Bob Ross paint. I never really tried to paint but I have done alot or drawing. Just a different medium getting excited to try. Keep up the good work

  • Nice painting!!

  • Very Nice! Add a light blue to the Light side of your Mountains and a little Cobalt or darker Blue to the other side of the Mountains...Hope that helps Keep up the great work!

  • Don't be so hard on yourself, that shit is tits as fuck! And I mean that in the best way possible! Bob would be proud :)

  • looks pretty darn good to me

  • You did a great job!

  • well i like it lol, teach me!

  • You speak English very well, and it is hard to learn.

  • My only happy critique would be that the mountains are very white compared to the greenery of the landscape...maybe make the tips of the mountain white

  • Good attempt! that looks nice.

  • you've over done the white on the mountains.

and covered all the darks. (heavyhanded knife work)

and you haven't put the highlights on the near trees.

but it's a great early attempt.

bob made it look too easy.

    and made us believe.

  • What? Your holding a cam and pointing it at 1 thing and that's it.

  • Hey, The trich with the knife is to be loose but firm. You cannot make a mistake!!

  • i like your sky and water and the vibrancy of the color reminds me of Maxfield Parish--one of my very favorite artists (as you can see by my avatar). I do love Bob Ross (RIP). Nice work--keep at it and keep us posted. : )

  • also practice with the knife on your palette so that you can smear that paint around as much as you want, and then you can scrape it back up and do it all over again.

  • I think you would be happier with your mountains if you don't have them straight. There are no straight lines in nature, so try to vary the edges. If you are having a really hard time with the knife, you may want to just paint the top edges of the mountains with a flat brush and then do the rest like bob does. It does take some practice. Also, the best thing I can reccommmend is to get the GETTING STARTED dvd if you don't allready have it.

  • wauw.. I'm sure you can sell that paiting for 1 buck.. GOODLUCK :D with the buck.

  • Wow. Beautiful.

  • it seems when I do the "blending in" my paint does nt dry as quickly as Bob's. Is there a technique Im missing?

  • he can paint good but not as good as bob ross can he will be missed there'll never be another bob ross

remember we never make mistakes just happy accidents

  • Great Job! I think you said 4th attempt? You're doing GREAT! definitely be happy with it! It's a learning process and you're doing great! Don't give up and keep up the great work! :)

You should try to focus on the positive things about your paintings! Try not to say " I don't like" so much. :) <3

  • I think it is very beautiful i wish i could paint like that. if i was you i would be very proud of the painting.

  • river is too wide and slow for that height and it is tilted up too much but nice sky

  • With the mountains, make sure you are getting just a little roll of paint on the knife - and barely, i mean barely, touch the knife to the canvas. That will give you some darker areas so you don't have all that snow.

You could also try a bit more blue in your darker areas on the mountain, just drop them in with the knife. Remember, the billy goat needs a place to hide.

  • grear! looks way better than mine lol

  • Looks pretty good!

  • hey r u italian cause u kind of sound like my dad and my family is italian

  • hahaha you were close! I´m spanish ;) But I´d prefer not to have spanish accent when I speak English. Any video on youtube to practice your american accent? :)

  • It's not really something you can practice. Just spend time listening to the American accent, regardless of the method, and you should pick it up naturally.

  • depends on what kind of accent you want, southern is much different than new york lol

  • to be honest, my friend, your voice is as soothing to me as bob's is - just an honest opinion - keep painting :)

  • @davidoreo You don't want an American accent anyway! Seriously! Try English accents :)

  • i love the reflection of the water, the trees and plants are good, best water i ever seen dude. Don't worry about the mountens too much, your on the right track, over all i give this a 7 out of 10, if i was a art critic, but i'm not XP

  • great job there man. BTW dont worry about the blues, looks great, and here in the pacific northwest where I live you do see beautiful blues like that, so dont worry there.

  • Awesome!

  • Never forget it isn't always about perfect renderings of what is in front of you. You could fake every colour of the scenery to some extreme/subtle/unusual level of brightness, or darkness, and it is still a great experience. Some would say the blue in your painting looks fake, but we know blue like that exists and its nothing but a good thing to take that blue and paint it and love it for as long as the painting lasts. Your painting has filled me with happiness. I hope paint stays true for you.

  • I thought you were supposed to have been dead

  • I love you too! :D

  • bob ross?

  • happy rofltrees

  • It's been sooooooo long since I painted, but I could use the knife pretty well. The way it worked for me at least was to let the knife rest in your hands and rest against the canvas, but don't press it. Just let the weight of the knife be the only pressure on it, and then just move the knife down the mountainside. Hopefull that will be helpful. Took it a while to click before I got it down, but then again I was about 8 at the time. Even if it doesn't work for you it's still a nice painting:)

  • lovley! ^^

  • excellent mate well done don't be to hard on yourself it is a stunning image

  • you did very well!

  • well done mate, good effort :)

im a CRI Instructor so if anyone wants to check out my channel, i have detailed vids of wet on wet techniques, hope u enjoy :)

  • Looks good! The mountains are tough, with the palate knife, but the reflections look really good! Well done! :)

  • it looks great man! keep painting! you know Bob Ross had to practice a lot before he was a pro.

maybe try something other than brushes? I would say go for a sponge

    happy painting-

  • thanks mate! ;)

  • Good work.

  • Mountains are a little light, as well as the bushes, but overall it looks wonderful.

  • looks great

  • Smooth the outline of the mountains and blend in a bit with sky. It looks like they are outlined in black. Bring out highlights in trees either adding light snow or sun/moonlight. Good work, just need to work with lighting more. My fav brush is the fan brush - you can do almost anything with it. :P

  • I want to paint like bob ross or like you...

  • Bob Ross always mentions -when he is painting mountains- that people have a hard time with the mountains, start with mixing your colour, add that famous "little roll of paint" and firmly press against the canvas adding the dark mounatin colour to your backround, then stretch it with a brush, and add your snow take agian a little roll of paint but this time very gently aply it to the mountains, he always said "no pressure" (he ment it litaraly) then to highlight shadows use a light blue, have fun

  • thats and awsome painting

  • Try Shadowing your mountains more. Looks great keep up the good work!:)

  • nice work!

  • thsi is a good painting but isnt there any real bob ross paintings on here

  • thanks. There were real Bob Ross show videos some time ago. Actually this video was a response to the video Peaceful Reflections, a Bob Ross´ original. But they all were removed due to copyright laws. It´s a shame

  • yu are really good i seen this painting in hish show and your really good at it.

  • I KNOW!!! I want an actual episode of Bob Ross' The Joy of Painting

  • I think you have made great progress to say this is only your 4th attempt. Like you said, the water and reflections are great, but your bushes really do need to be done with a different brush. I can see that you are using the right strokes with the wrong brush, but as Bob used to say, "There are no mistakes, just happy accidents". Turn those bushes into rocks, my friend and you will have a masterpiece!

  • Watching shows like Bob Ross I believe actually made me a better digital artist, as many of the techniques used in painting can also be used in digital art, as the onely real difference is you use actual paints & brushes in one, & virtual paints & brushes in the other with the reast being limited only by your own imagination.

  • I'm a Bob Ross instructor and I think your painting is very nice. Great water and reflections. The mountains aren't bad. That knife can be tricky...just takes some patience and practice, just like Bob says. :) Keep painting!

  • Thank you! It´s great to know there are people teaching with Bob´s method. I only painted 5 or 6 paintings with oil. I had never painted before (since childhood) and I was more than happy with the result, thank to Bob. As you can see I got hooked on Chinese brush painting later, and I keep painting ;)

  • great painting

  • the problem with the mountains is that u r using to much paint and ur not pressing light enough. ur trees r nice. and y r u thanking a dead guy. its called a palate knife. oh and another problem is that ur using bob ross oil mediums, those r the worst, they r shit and teh oil just comes out of the paint, use alexander

  • i watched the episode where he made that painting.

    lol, happy little trees

    :))

  • Wow, cool.

Me? I'm never really happy with my art. I might be satisfied but it always could've been better. You know? I still need lots more practice, though. I'm only 16.

  • Great job. Keep up the good work.

  • german accent?

  • nop! not german accent but spanish (ok, maybe not the typical spanish accent). BTW, I do love Malcolm in the middle too ;)

  • your mountain looks happy to me... but I don't paint I just have an afro

  • Your painting realy does look like a Bob Ross original or almost as good it's a beautiful painting, far better than i could do.

I love to watch Bob Ross know his show is back, on Discovery Real Time.

Bob Ross will always be a Legend,

    R.I.P Bob Ross.

  • is it discovery real time? or just regular discovery the one i get to watch on cable?

  • As far as i know it's just Discovery Real Time. Bad thing is, it's on at 4:15am so i have to stay up all night to watch it, but it's worth it!

  • dude relax.. its a good painting! give the man some credit man!!

  • very nice!!! i wish pepl would post more Bob Ross videos

  • good job man. just keep workin at it. bob ross is the best.

  • Back when Bob Ross was on TV and I was about 13 years old, I got all excited watching how simple he made it all look, so I went out and bought the whole Bob Ross painting set. And for the next few months I produced some of the worst paintings ever made until I finally gave up. Your painting looks pretty good though, especially the water...good job!

  • ;) maybe you should try it again. I am sure it´s much easier when you are an adult, so why don´t you give it a go? I watched at least 3 times this chapter before beggining to paint it, and tried to follow carefully all the steps, just like a cooking recipe! I´m sure the result will be much better than when you were 13

  • very nice painting!!

  • very beautiful art i love bob ross and your art too

  • good job!

  • Great job-- and I like your accent as well ;)

  • haha thank you ;) I like my painting but I don´t like my accent, so thanks a lot for liking my accent lol

  • that looks pretty damn good.

  • I usually never had trouble with too much pressure, but one mistake that's easy to make is not working fast enough. Don't pull the knife slowly, it's best to use light, fast strokes, and just go at it. It breaks a lot better if you do it more quickly.

  • great advice! I will try it when I paint with oil again ;) Thanks for your comments to everyone

  • the water and reflections look awesome. I'm jealous of your skill.

  • great man...great job keep practicing and get the the 30 min painting...

  • I'm no expert on painting but I agree with Panglish. It would probably be best to change the color of the sky a bit, since the water's color is close to the sky's color.

I really do love the water, though! Very pretty. :)

  • Tezlovespez, it makes sense that the sky and water mimic each other in color because the water reflects the sky, thats the reason why the ocean is blue

  • Great painting, the water looks great! If you need a suggestion about the sky, since you have dark contrast with the trees, try a darker sun setting, the bushes just add orange and white on tips, your painting looks like it should, the sky is the only thing kinda off about it, keep it uP!

  • damn thats a great painting, I probably could never do anything even close to that...

great job, dont be so hard on yourself.

  • Everybody is critical of there own work. its good...

Yeah your no Picaso but its good! nice work.

  • This painting is awesome. Whoever painted this, man you've got talent. Keep it up.

  • Well I think this is very good. for the mountains, try a bigger roll of paint on your knife, and in one of the episodes he says do not apply pressure when you use the knife. "Pretend your a whisper and you floated across the mountain." For the bushes, try a 2-inch brush and just dab a dark color underneath. Then mix some lighter green with liquid white or drip your brush in paint thinner and dab on top. But you're really good, don't be so critical.

  • like other people here id like to say overall it is a nice painting. the water is perfectly done. like some1 else said incorporate some darker colors for your bushes, and as far as the mountains don't be afraid to throw a little more darker colors in there to show some rock poking through the snow and to give the shadows a little more depth. you have talent so keep it up. an remember, there are no mistakes..only happy accidents :)

  • Maybe what you could do to improve the bushes is to incorporate patches of dark green in a few spots to make it look like there's spaces in between the leaves. You're really good, don't be too hard on yourself.

  • Hey man, good work, it's good that you have criticisms of your own work, like the mountains, you realize there is room to improve, and that's perfect, because you can now capitalize on exactly that. Very very good job with the water and the reflections. And the trees look wonderful, keep it up, you'd make Bob Ross proud.

  • Thanks for your comments, i really appreciate it. I didnt paint many Bob Ross paintings, just 6 I think. Nowadays I am interested in Chinese painting, but I´ll be back ;) It was really great to have a teacher like him. RIP

  • You are extremely welcome, the art of painting is something that I have a lot of respect for, and I admire your talent, it really is something!

  • is bob ross dead? i love watching him paint on saturday mornings! but is he dead?

  • Yeah, he's dead. :( But he lives on in our hearts!

  • how did he die? thats so dissapointing :(

  • He died of lymphoma (cancer) in 1995. The show only ran from '83 up to his death, but they continue to re-run it today... obviously because it's such a great show!

  • tell me about it! its so cool how he would make the paintings!

  • Nice painting. I like how you made the water look so real. keep up the good work. big improvement over your first works.

  • Great job on he painting, my friend.

Beautifully done! I wish i could paint like you, you have a gift!

    Ciao!

  • I love the reflections.

  • i don't know anything about art but from what i can see it's really good and it's not supposed to be perfect if it was it would just be lame

  • your painting is not bad, just use less paint on the mountain hi lites and add more dark to the shadow side.the mountains appear flat.use a thin roll of paint and a very lite touch.also darken the reflections in the foreground .also use a liter touch when doing the bushes.the more you do the better you will become ,keep it up.

  • I think the mountains look great, and the reflection are very good.

  • nice painting! i wish i could paint :P

  • Hi my friend, that is excelent! the reflections and the water look fantastic. I have only just started painting agin and if I can even come close to what you do I would be delighted. "As Bob used to say be happy in your world"

  • I am sorry but it´s not possible so far, i´m not registered as a seller in any thrift store

  • This is so beautiful! You're a good artist! Keep up the good work!!

  • Thank you so much, i think it´s the best compliment i´ve ever received, considering the incredible paintings you´ve done. I love them. I´m attracted to the chinese traditional painting, which you master. Hope I can paint something decent so i can dare to show it to you. Greetings ;)

  • Too modest you are! You DO paint decent western style paintings. I hope you will try chinese paintings and I'd be very glad to see them! :)

  • The water looks really great! Great job!

  • The mountains look close, which throws off the entire scale of the painting. Work on your mountains

  • try making a sharper contras on the lights and darks, makeup brushes are good for light specles

  • Nice work man. I feel like painting myself now. :D

  • it sorta looks like spring but the mountains are completely covered in snow. i think it all looks great but just maybe take it easy with the white on the mountian

  • Your work with the water is very nice. The mountains are also rather majestic. Trees look up or better than Ross' quality. Well done my friend.

  • Well done.

  • theres not enough happly lil clouds

  • Water's nice. How about a few more happy little clouds? Great painting!

  • yo man! you gotta go easy on the knife, try to live more dark places on the mountains. be hard on the knife when you doing the base of the mountains with the black and go easy when you're puting the white.

  • ignore the haters when i saw this i thought that looks like mine when i first started all i will say is stick with it when i started it was taking me 4 hrs to do one now about an hr and even thogh i'm never entirely happy with them i can see a dramatic improvement ,also i would say invest in his brushes paints and any of his products they do help i will have to upload some of mine and u can maybe comment on them .good luck friend

  • I wouldn't worry about trying to do a painting on 30 minutes. Bob did it in 30 minutes because he had to. Let me know if you want some detailed info on getting the knife to work. It took me forever but I've figured out the secret to getting the paint to break correctly. Send me a message, and I'll get a video posted to help you out.

  • i like his accent.

  • hahaha thank you, I´d like to find a kind of Bob Ross teacher in the subject of teaching a good accent :D

  • Can you paint better than he can? At least he can paint which is more than I can say for a lot of Graphic Design students though!

I have to admit the painter in this video is pretty good if he's just a student!

  • that doesn´t make him an artist

  • For those of you that think there is a definition of art, you're wrong. You can't define what an artist is, and you don't get to decide who is or isn't an artist. Art is different things for different people. Having a piece of paper that says you've been trained in art doesn't make you an artist.

  • i agree. art has meaning. anything that has some special meaning is art. and anyone who uses his emotion to create something that has meaning to him or anyone else is an artist.

  • I dont consider myself an artist for painting this. It´s a sort of "you follow the instructions and get the final result" like assembling a table from IKEA! I was really surprised with the final result, cause it was much better than I expected, cause I had never painted before. If there´s something commendable in this, it´s the great way of teaching of Bob Ross. These are not the kind of paintings I want to do, but learning this is going to teach me the technique to paint the things I want

  • One more thing on the "less painting." You use the knife to create your dark, and then you go VERY lightly with the knife when creating your snow highlights. Then, use a darker blue to create your shadows. A neat trick is to use the a brush on the shadows and to "push" the thick white paint into a clear, crisp ridge.

  • It may sound funny, but you need to actually paint less. Your bushes are kind of "blah" together because you used too much of the lighter greens. For this technique, you do a very dark base coat for your bushes, and then you use the lighter colors to HINT at the highlights. Notice in Bob's art the amount of dark that he leaves behind.

  • excellent job do not stop the more you do the better you get. yes it is a brush issue for the front bushes. the water, reflection, trees in the middle all look great the mountains and sky lack depth they almost look animated where the middle look photohgraphic. you are way more tallented painter than me KEEP IT UP !

  • Pretty good, dude. Better than Bob Ross, if you ask me. If you really want to get good at painting, go outside and paint from nature. And just practice as much as possible. Also, if you like landscapes, check out some superior artists like George Innes or Gustave Corbet.

  • you're hilarious arachosia. hahaha. lmao. "My opinion: better than bob ross, but not as good as superior artists like George Innes or Gustave Corbet." keep it up.

  • Are you suggesting that Bob Ross is better than Innes or Corbet? If so, you need to get glasses and an art history lesson.

  • I don't paint, but I appreciate work like this. Very good work.

  • like bob ross always said, no mistakes, just happy accidents! really nice job, as others have said the water is amazing. maybe the mountains have to sharp a peak, but this is really nice, happy painting, and god bless my friend..

  • Not criticizing anything, VERY good painting, I also think you critique yourself about it too much. If your goal is to be Bob Ross, then you're on your way with a little work, but you should paint how you see it, and how you like it. If i was comparing it to Bob Ross, more "mist" at the bottom of the mountains, and a lighter hand for the snow.

  • you are applying your second layer with the knife too thick, it needs to break up more, try using a thinner roll of paint on the knife, and very gently pull it across the first layer.

  • Looks good!!

  • hahaha i like you accent to! and good work!

  • I think you've got too heavy of a hand...I can see it in the mountains and bushes. You wanna be very light with these things; barely brush the canvas, so you can sorta feel it in your fingertips. For the bushes, you wanna get a thick, strong coarse brush. Finer ones will not have the similar small-leaf texture, and they will also take too long.

Hope this helps! ;D Don't get down; Bob Ross painted for 30 years before airing his show.

  • That's a really nice painting. I like your accent. :)
