I'm more inspired my the working single mother who makes miracles happen to give her child a good Christmas or birthday; these people are lucky enough to have a home, land and made the decision to be "frugal", a lot of people don't have that luxury; try not eating everyday and living in a car for a month
@cheetocairo I wouldnt be inspired because I am a man with a wife and kids so videos like this can inspire people like me. I don't have land but I plan to get some one day and live in a self sufficient homestead. If you had to live in your car for a month then maybe you just wernt frugal enough. Perhaps you should have watched a video like this instead of the one of the miracle working single mother working to give birthday parties and christmas only to let her kids starve the rest of the year!

In my psychic opinion after watching ur video u have been sent a gift
Drink flouride free water
Eat mostly grains, little beans, seaweed and miso soup and some fish mostly macrobiotic and homeschool and insist ur kids read 5 books a week written by geniuses and u will see what I mean
If u drink the tap water which has flouride which is a poison could result in tumours and if u eat meats instead of mostly grains and little bit beans than u will get tumours to as animals pumped with steroids
This aint rocket science
What do u think pyramid means on one dollar bill
The base represents the masses they call us slaves, cattle, sheeple and the herd , they poison water on purpose lol sick huh
You are doing your children a huge favor by teaching them young to be more self sufficient. Hard times are coming and these kids will adjust much better because they do not have unrealistic expectations. They will know how to survive and thrive.
The more food you grow the better off you are. I have been gardening for 3 years and I think I have saved around 10,000 dollars between me and my wife and 2 kids. I have to say though a heavy tomato harvest really helps if you are able to can food. Canned: Chili,Salsa,Spaghetti Sauce,Pizza sauce, and Tomato soup can really help in the winter. The vitamin C is another benfeit too.....
One thing that you can't buy at ANY price? Letting the children actually contribute to the family! You can see in the shot where they are all around the table, that this family is _connected_ in this project, and it's a daily thing, maybe a constant thing. Fostering the idea that you can contribute every day as a kid makes that transition into the job market SO easy, and makes you a better contributor in all your endeavors.
clear the land with goats and pigs like the colonists did or clear burn like the native Americans did. Check out Eliot Coleman's Four Season Harvest (he lives in Maine and gardens year round with coldframes, hoophouses and an unheated greenhouse)
Looking at the food, I wouldn't waste money on specialty crackers, they're not a good deal at any price, nor apple sauce. But, yes chock full of nuts coffee, I remember it well, it's been around for years, has to be a good product. I envy your gardening plans. I try to live very frugally as well.
Maybe I'm a total tightwad, but all I could think during the scene in the kitchen was, "There's a lamp on in the other room and there's no one in there!"
@ahnaknits Wow you are a complete tightwad x 1000 for you to notice that lamp...lol. I don't blame you though, I would have sold that lamp or perhaps modify it in a way that would heat up my food and save myself on stove electricity....lol. Ok thats a bit extreme now... xp
Most people forget that the great country of United States was built with FRUGAL families, not ravenous spenders.
People who understood the value of a dollar, that questioned every expense and were used to sacrificing and saving. Frugality brings a family together because everybody needs to pitch in, it takes kids out of the TV and keeps everyone healthy.
Plus (and this is a big one), the food that you grow yourself is FAR more healthy than anything at the store. By miles.
This video is a good start, but I have a friend with six kids, who lives in the city, and only spends about $200 a month on food. They eat extremely well, all are healthy.
You need to use coupons!!!!!!!! it the best way to save money. watch?v=Zd6MR71dhF0&feature=channel 183.00 for over 900.00 worth of groceries. last weekend I spent 24.00 on 125.00 worth of groceries.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but my wife and I have never even come close to making $41,000. We must be super frugal. We Have been getting by on $13,000 a year for the last 2 years, and it's the most money we have ever made.
If you have 40 acres you can EASILY become self sufficient. There is a family in Pasadena, California on only 1/3 of an acre and they are totally self sufficient.
what a wonderful family. I think the nicest thing about living like this is it forces families to survive, work and play together. this family looks closer than most families you see with the mc mansion, lexus and tennis lessons.
wow this is truly a great video! We need to be more frugal, and less wasteful. Wonder if they did a show on this and if so, are the videos around on youtube for viewing. :)
I was inspired by this family today. I was going to spend 50.00 on pizza becuase I didnt think that we had enough stuff to put on a home made pizza. After scrounging around I found enough ingredence to put on the pizza but I didnt have any chesse so instead of spending 50.00 on pizza take out. I went to the grocery store and only spent 10.00 on the chesse. I saved my self 40.00. if you watch these videos enough it gets inplanted in to your head. wow. your video reminded me to think before I buy.
We too have chickens (love them and the eggs) and have made some gardening mistakes which have turned out to not be cost effective. We put up an impulsively designed hoop house which just collapsed in our ridiculous 2 feet of early snow. I NEED to buckle down, still spending way to much. Desperately want to be self sufficient. Great video, I hope you post more.
My family and I have found out that we too are living well beyond our means. We are also a family of 6 and we are so scared by the way our bad habits have put us in this situation. I hope you continue to post new videos, they will be a wonderful encouragement to me in our new adventure of "extreme" frugality. Thank you for you honesty. Amy
There is nothing impressive about sticking chock full of nuts into a trader joes can. It's actually quite pathetic.
You know what's frugal - not breeding a bunch of kids.

The illuminati our shadow govt who runs States and our crashing economy on purpose to bring in New World Order
Also means the Sage which is anyone who can rise above lies, propaganda , read 5 books every week and become illuminated

If u drink the tap water it has flouride in it which depletes iodine which results in a person being more docile and lowered immune system .
Seaweed I high in iodine I eat daily and kelp tablets
Can get culligan water in back of wallmart
Very cheap refills
I called number and use carbon filters and are 95% flouride free

no point being frugal when the federal reserve is just printing up money and handing it out to his buddies the banking crooks for free.
so while you save, the value of your money is transferred to someone else.

Get some goats for milk and cheese. You have enough kids to spread the milking chores. Cheesemaking is fun.
