Wow those effects look so cooooooooool! This is Ubuntu Linux with a transformation pack right? I have Ubuntu somewhere, if I was to install Ubuntu back on my computer again and install this onto it, would I be able to use it like the real Windows XP and run my windows programs on it?

no technically its still xp so it wouldnt b able to run .exe like windows can but what u can do is u can install ubuntu then install a program called virtual box and install xp in the virtual then u can look at xp and ubuntu at the same time.. or u can use wine.. whcihc i dont recommend..

Very nice setup, I haven't seen that good of a XP theme, its just about as exact as you can get. I also think that making the cube entirely invisible while setting the background image the same while rotating the cube to be a brilliant idea. Cool video

What stands out the most here is that Vista can't do anything with a 5200...by anything I mean any 3D effects...and if it does, they would make the PC slow to a crawl...

If u have an tuned up vista with 1g ram , it works fine. not laggy.

Yeah of course, but not with a 5200 and 512 ram...the ram is ok but the graphics card...is not. Now for Vista 512 of ram is nothing anymore and with a 5200 Vista won't start Aero automatically once you start it for the first time...and this video is with Beryl...Compiz Fusion runs even smoother and faster on a system like that...it's incredible.

so i want to use linux, but i'm a film editor and have to be able to use my adobe cs3 suite.....how could i make the switch and still use my programs?? i know about wine but i don't think it supports CS3 or Microsoft Office 2007.

linux can work perfectly using dual boot. It means you can have both XP or Vista and Linux on the same PC and switch between them at startup. When you install linux , its setup will ask you if you want to use the whole hard disk or resize it to keep windows.. You'll find help on ubuntu . com and on ubuntuforums . com , the have been of tremendous help to me

it´s even easier if you use a little app called wubi. download it and install it within windows, and then open it. it will automatically download and install linux (ubuntu linux --which, in my humble opinion is the best there is). This will spare you the trouble of partitioning your hard drive, creating some sort of virtual drive, in which linux will run. Then if you want to get rid of linux, you just have to go to control panel (in windows)/remove programs/wubi. And that´s it!

but the effects are really choppy unlike yours... any suggestions?

i haven't used linux for a very long time now, but i do know that there are 2 video modes: AIGLX and XGL . Try using the OTHER video mode.
