Typical of her genius to give this song a fresh setting instead of doing it as a Broadway belter, which is probably what people expected of her at the time. She's the greatest for a hundred reasons and this recording is one of them.

I got this album for Christmas when I was around 12 years old, I still have it. I remember peeking at it when it was under the tree. I knew it was a record and so happy it was Streisand. I remember sliding the record out of the wrapping and playing it before Christmas when my parents weren't home. Then putting it back and acting surprised on Christmas.
She has a lot of awesome albums, Emotion, Guilty, Songbird, the Broadway Album to name a few.
SONGBIRD is easily one of Barbra's most beautifully crafted and even albums. Not a dud in the bunch; every song memorable. The big orchestrated solo treatment given to the otherwise sappy version of You Dont Bring Me Flowers is amazing. This album is in my top 5 for Barbra.
I broke out into dear Barbra's version of this lovely song for my little kiddies and they of course looked at me like I was a genius. Can you imagine ?
