  • It always bothers me a bit to see Jastrow and Sagan together like this, since they clashed in public over Reagan's anti-missile program, and because Jastrow co-founded the anti-science Marshall Institute.

  • @Mimi2591 i love em all but this one is my favorite!

  • @MCgt1 What? I thought my question was straight and easy but apparently not for you. Please just answer it like it is asked. I happen to want to know.

  • @Quintinohthree ask yourself what your purpose to being in this world is and ask yourself what shall happen to you after you leave this place...

  • @MCgt1 any first year biology student can tell you the answer to these. you exist to pass on your offspring and to protect them so that they may flourish. what happens after you die? you give back to this great earth which has given you so much to begin with. it is insulting that you would take this planet for granted but will believe in mythical man-made worlds when the one you were given by nature herself was far greater and more magical than anything written in a book.

  • @EdwardCullensMayo ask yourself if until this day you have enjoyed what earth has given you? it will never be possible for so earth is just another piece of what we are, and so after we are eternally dead just you know eternally dead what will happen to earth as we can see earth is being destroyed by human kind we are are own destruction and what will happen to EdwardCullens? Pray brother sister, He will come soon 8)

  • @MCgt1

Oh just shut up please. "He" said "He" would have come already. He clearly didn't. Stop posting bullshit.

  • 'Some people find that thought disturbing, I find the reality thrilling!' Richards voice seems to change. He sounds so...happy. This line make me smile every time! :)

  • does anyone know where the background music came from?

  • The narrator sounds hella sexy

  • Dawkins’ voice really shines in this one. 0:45-0:56 left me speechless…that was some superb editing. However, I would have to argue that his accent and passionate tone during the majority of his lectures defeats the need for his voice to even be auto tuned, in my opinion.

  • @ShadesofEb0ny I agree, but it's not autotuned to make it sound different, it's autotuned to make it match with the song, both in timing and pitch. It would sound weird and out of place if it wasn't autotuned.

  • @SirToshley

Why does your mind create problems where there are none?

  • The atoms that have momentarily come together like this video.

  • Drink Whiskey with Richard Dawkins.

Roll a joint with Dr. Kuku.

Roll a blunt with Carl Sagan.

  • @DrTruthiness T'would be a lovely day.

  • Carl Sagn didnt die! He simply returned to Cosmos.

  • Science is the answer to Chuck Norris

  • I would do anything to smoke weed with Carl Sagan.

  • These can be summed up in a simple way.: Simply Amazing.

  • Lol kaku sounds like a true nerd when he says "intergalAAActic conversation"

  • The universe is more beautiful than any "holy" book can ever describe.

  • @195ashes and what do you mean by that? "holy" book...

  • @MCgt1

Exactly that, one assumes. Any book that presumes to be holy. Which is every one of them.

  • @keesengels but the same bro there cant be all books that are holy theres the Bible it is not only Holy it is the Scripture of Life to which even scientist now at days are agreeing with!!!

  • @MCgt1

What is this "Scripture of Life" you speak of that scientists are agreeing with? And are scientists supposedly agreeing with it out of pure coincidence or because whatever scientists say is what the supposed "Scripture of Life" says as well.

On a sidenote, learn English, please.

  • @Quintinohthree my English might not be at the best, yours was neither on a point thank GOD for giving you the knowledge. research other there science there is more out there there is your creator, and well try out the "Scripture of Life" you can be saved and live happily eternal at the side of the LORD.

  • @MCgt1 type in gogle John 8:12-20

  • @MCgt1 Any book that claims to be the word of a god/gods.

  • @195ashes lol any book? theres the Bible would you call that any book? i wanna know your opinion?

  • ".. And because, in all the Galaxy, they had found nothing more precious than Mind, they encouraged its dawning everywhere. They became farmers in the fields of stars; they sowed, and sometimes they reaped.

And sometimes, dispassionately, they had to weed."

    -- Arthur C. Clarke, 2010: Odyessy Two - Epilogue: 20'001

  • I still can't wrap my head around just how damn small a human being is compared to the universe as a whole. We're practically specks compared to a city, which is in itself a speck compared to the Earth, which is in itself a speck compared to Sol, which is in itself a speck compared to a lot of other stars, which are in themselves specks compared to a galaxy, which is in itself a speck compared to the universe. GAHH

  • @Stammer6 Think of it this way, you are nothing at all compared to the Universe in terms of mass. However, the human mind is powerful enough to be able bend the stars and maybe one day galaxies to our will if nurtured correctly. We are already beginning to bend the planet to our will.

  • @Stammer6 When you come to the realization that EVERYTHING you see, touch, feel & hear - including yourself - at one time in the past shared the same singularity - the same point & moment of 'creation' - the question of your perception of smallness becomes mute.

    You are not small.

You are as large as the expanding universe. To seek out and know-thy-self is the ultimate quest. You don’t need to be a Stephen Hawking to contribute, you just need to help others imagine & see themselves clearly.

  • Science made SEXY!!

  • Wow I have a raging hardon.

  • VERY songify-feeling over this, HAHAHA (Y)

  • Muy bella "canción", definitivamente.

  • Stephen Hawking from the ERB episodes would fit so well here.

  • I'v been rapin' the replay button for about an hour now :P

  • @thecanadian7117

I know, what I meant was that this is the science version of schmoyoho.

Credit also has to go to melodysheep for the great tunes that accompany these great lyrics. It really does inspire

  • i love science it has explained so much yet we seem to know nothing so far about whats out there and if we are alone. its so exciting we have so much left to learn

  • just me, or does carl sagan kind of sound like kermit the frog?

  • Sciences answer to schmoyoho!

  • @needicecream100 melody sheep is older...

  • @needicecream100 and better at that ;)

  • @needicecream100 the first one I heard I thought was schmoyoho lol, this is dope

  • Tip : Flag every single non happy comment. Brings a wider smile to your face when you scroll down for related videos :) Enjoy life

  • @g00hz

    Censorship is not a solution.

If someone has an opinion or thought it should be shared, no matter how terrible or horrendous, we can't limit free speech because we disagree with certain ideas.

  • @EngineerAdams I didn't mean censorship by that, just hiding the comments :)

Why does the Internet argue so much, by the way ?

  • This is beautiful. Love it!

  • This video is sexy.

  • Take a moment of science so we can have some silence and enjoy this video.

  • @Ahiatua

You've had your silence, now please get back to the discussion. It's relevant to the subject of the song and it might become interesting.

  • @Quintinohthree Alright! What exactly do you want? a definition of god or a reason I believe that it's a possibility. I still think that if there is a God, from all the evidence in the world, I would be one to believe that he is not a supernatural force, but a physical being from somewhere, Orion maybe, Or sirius. A lot of our temples point to sirius. *shrugs* So it's hard to define a being that no one can prove exists. thats like proving the law of gravity. it's only a theory.

  • @Ahiatua

I ask from you a definition of "god" by which all the gods of all pagan pantheons and all other sorts of religions and every other divine being or entity imaginable would fall under the definition of "god". A definition of all gods, not of just one specific god that you think may or may not exist.

To even speak of gods you must have a meaningful definition of the word.

  • Totally agree with the message. Science is my muse and all that shit. But terrible video imho. It's just not my cup of tea.

  • LOL

  • I am saddened by the religious responses to this video.. this song represents my mind so well, when I think of the universe.. we are all connected, we are all so similar yet we are so critical of each other due to our own beliefs.. the universe is big. really big. the possibilities are nearly infinite, we can't comprehend it. maybe one day we can all agree on that, and set aside our differences so we may discover what really lies out there, no matter what it might be.

  • @keesengels well I'm done with this argument. I won't try to change your beliefs but I will stay strong to my religion. Have a nice day :)

  • @zeedouble3

Too bad, I had hoped that my comments at the very least would have made you reflect on that religion. But I respect your decision. Have a nice day as well :)

  • The comments here prove that man is just as backward and ignorant as we've always been. There is a God/There is no God... Just enjoy the music.

I personally think the universe is a little too orderly to just be a big accident. anything beyond that is between me and my Creator.

  • @keesengels yes those people may say that about their gods. But those are small groups. Did you know that the most widespread religion in the world is christianity? 33% of our worlds population are Christian. That means 67% are lost. 33% are saved.

  • @zeedouble3

An Argumentum ad Populum. How original. But the number of people believing something does not prove anything. After all, not so long ago, relatively speaking, people ALL believed the Earth was flat. Every one of them! Did that make the Earth flat, by any chance?

Not so much later, EVERYBODY believed that the Sun revolved around the Earth. EVERYBODY. Did that change suddenly? Or did believing it have absolutely no effect whatsoever?

So please, revise the percentage argument...

  • @keesengels

    cont.

Also, you say 'Christian' like Catholics and Amish are one and the same. I believe you'll find that the actual group of like-minded individuals is in fact a hell of a lot smaller. In fact, I think your beliefs do not even match those of the next church beyond yours...

All of this dilutes your (non-)argument even further.

  • @keesengels there is a big difference between catholic and christian. witch does drop the numbers a fair bit. but the most widespread religion has always been christianity since time began? why do you think you think you get all these responses from people trying to argue with your comments? would you rather believe that we were decended from monkeys or created by the cleanest, largest most amazing source of power there is?

p.s. where are you from? it seems like you might be british :)

  • @nicadflyte also this is zeedouble3 just from a different computer

  • @nicadflyte ***began

  • @nicadflyte

"but the most widespread religion has always been christianity since time began?"

    - Again, the number of believers says nothing about its validity.

"why do you think you think you get all these responses from people trying to argue with your comments?"

    - The truth hurts? ;)

    cont.

  • @keesengels if you think my knowledge is incomplete then why don't you read the bible and complete it for me. And in the bible it specifically says not to turn your back on god. Only a rational mind would comprehend and obey that.

  • @zeedouble3

Ah, but you skipped the part where you proved that the Bible is actually a trustworthy source. You see, the Qur'an and the Torah say the same about their respective gods. And I think the rational mind you mentioned would start there.

  • @VoLCoMzYaDiGG first of all none of those statements are true. Second of all you really need to find Christ. I suggest the bible is a good place to start.

  • @zeedouble3

First of all I think your knowledge of the subject is a bit short of being complete, so I don't believe that you can make such a statement.

As for Christ: found him, weighed him, found him too light for a rational mind, discarded him, have never been happier :)

  • @danishcamb I don't really have anything to add to this but I support you! The lord has done some amazing things! Let that never be forgotten!

  • No seriously, to remove an unwanted disease, problem or error in whatever matter or form we eradicate, exterminate, or destroy it. I say lets burn those religious morons who'll back a child molesting priest but'll kill gays/lesbians and integrate religion and state by lobbying and eventually passing laws. Lets take back the planet from these fear mongering, evil pieces of shit.

  • I so want to thumbs up your answer to TheDeathwish1977 but unfortunately I have some error regarding that so instead I'm writing this msg @Ahiatua

And the video is a great!

Cheers! And Happy New Year! :)

  • Thanks S of S! you're killing me!

  • @00000Me1 With a initial llike SoS, you think they will do the opposite.

  • @TonyTheAnything Just in case...I meant killing me in a good way!

  • Religion exists through the power of fear, lets not forget that. Fundamentalist dogma is our planets most prevalent disease, of which we are the carriers.

  • i wish i knew a little bit about the people who disliked this video

  • humans expand and transform and we make each other. One must learn from those around us and what is around us. We are limited from day one. Science is my wonderful ship i use to traverse my life. but there are so many others. Graduating next semester with a biology and chemistry mayor. the world is not just in the lab or in class or in my words.... Its us and more at the same time.

  • Richard Derpkins

  • This is my favorite of all the videos, I love this track.

  • "We are so proud of our accomplishment(technology, economy, political, culture, trend, etc).

But what is our place in the cosmic perspective of life?" - Robert Jastrow

  • universe is made of frequency .. it is one big song... that is what these videos are trying to say

  • I can remeber this better than anything I learn in school

  • I never intended my channel to be used for a religious assault. I am done with this, it is futile and stupid to argue over this. We are born free and thus should be treated that way. I was tired of seeing my religion being attacked. So for the last time I say this, we should tolerate one another and whatever views we share or don't share. Thank you, I am returning to doing that witch I love... Making videos. TheDeathwish1977 is dedicated to making music videos I am Done with this.

  • i fucking love science

  • I personally like this Symphony of Science video the best of them all.

  • @mikeyg789 It's so hard to choose. I think the first four and Children of Africa are the best.

  • Carl Sagan at 1:28 has to be the most inspirational lines I've ever heard in my life.

  • 100,000,000,000 stars in our galaxy and 100,000,000,000 galaxies.2,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars, more stars than all the humans that have ever been alive...feel small

  • I am saddened by the site of "Symphony of Science". This is the reason people are attacking my religion daily. This is the material convincing people there is no God. I lower my head in the thought of how stupid some of these trolls on YouTube must be. The worst part is they actually convince other people! I am truly saddened by the site of this pathetic video made by singing clowns. These are my thoughts and not the general views of my religion.

  • @TheDeathwish1977 I'm saddened by your thoughts. I'm saddened by your insults. I lower my head in shame when i Think of you. Knowing there is another human so closed minded that you can't accept other possibilities. I believe there could be a God. I also believe He could be an alien, Who knows! You don't. At least science can offer proof and is not just blind leading the blind.

  • @Ahiatua problem is, if i am correct in assuming what religion he is, then god being an alien could very easily prove his beliefs wrong, because god supposedly created us in his image, thus if he is an alien, his planet must be pretty damn similar to earth

  • @d3str0i3r It very well could be similar.

  • @Ahiatua Perfect words my friend.. :D I love being a understanding YOOman!

  • @Ahiatua What makes you think there could be a god and, separately, why would he be an alien? I guess your definition of god might be different from the conventional definition. Let us know.

  • @MewCat100 Improbability. It's not impossible, bu improbable, Improbable means there is a fraction of a chance that it is. And as for the definition of God. There is too many ways to answer that question in the first place. It is not my place to decide who, what, or where god could be, if its a fairy tale, or if its a supernatural force. I personal like the ideal of a physical existence and Choose The Improbability to look if is he's an E.T. *shurgs* to each their own,

  • @Ahiatua If you are claiming there may be a god, you must define what you mean by that. You can't just say that you think there is a god, but the definition can be anything at all that any of us want. I was hoping you would provide some interesting answer, but you have provided a non-answer.

It seems what you should have said was that you HOPE there is a god. You have not explained either how a god could exist, probably because you don't know where to begin. Total BS. Sorry.

  • @MewCat100 Well, for one, I do not HOPE there is a GOD. Second, I just really want an alien to drop out of the sky bearing gods words so religion can finally get the big defilement that it needs. And how is that a non answer, Improbability is a good reason to keep your mind open. And If God is an alien, then the proof of his existence would be a hell of a lot easier. And it would give a definition for him. Right now it;s just blind leading the blind.

  • @Ahiatua Your answer was that you think there might be a god, but that you have no definition of said god. How is that an answer? It is a non-answer. You basically said, I think there is something that exists that I cannot define at all, but I can imagine its existence. To image it, you must be thinking of certain characteristics, so what are they? Otherwise, you aren't thinking of anything.

  • @MewCat100 Oh and the only thing that is Total BS is for someone to be so close minded that that cannot accept the possibility of improbability. I never said He is there. I said it's a possibility. Which it Is. You are also talking about a world that has Gravity, that is only a theory, not a law. I am not a religious person. I would prefer religion to not exist so then we could get some more science done.

  • @Ahiatua I never said I did not accept the improbably, only that your answer was BS. You are addressing the wrong point. I am not disagreeing with your point about probability, only asking you to define what this god is that you claim has a possibility of existing. Depending on its characteristics, what you define may, in fact, be impossible. Your gravity comment is a complete non-sequitor.

  • @Ahiatua

No-one's asking you to define God, you're asked to define "god". A word which can apply to everything and everyone is meaningless. Might I suggest you watch?v=04bmnu6pP5c ? I think that should get you going to define the word "god" so you can actually get so far as finding out whether there is a god.

  • @Quintinohthree I am not defining God and I refuse to. I just really want God to come back, as an E.T. and then all those religions would crumble upon themselves. Sorry I want something twisted to happen. At least I'm keeping an open mind to everything. I really am on your side of science.

  • @Ahiatua

I explicitly asked not to define God but god and yet you refuse to define God. God is a name, it can't be defined. Meanwhile "god" is a word which can be defined. God is a god but not every god imaginable is God. Please define "god" first and see whether aliens could be gods. I'm sure that no religion would be bothered if an alien came to earth because as far as they're concerned an alien can't be a god. I'd even agree with them.

  • @Quintinohthree Well reasoned. Ahiatua seems to be struggling with the fact that he cannot simultaneously claim that something could exist, but also not be able to define his claim. It is very odd reasoning that he is putting forth.

  • @MewCat100 A Secon note. Telling someone they do not need to define something and then telling someone they are wrong for not properly defining something makes you Either Ignorant or just plain trolling. Either way, you are just here to make arguments and I'm not going to buy into your hypocritical BS.

  • @Ahiatua

They did ask you to define it, its just that you keep switching between god and God and GOD which causes confusion.

  • @Ahiatua What the hell are you talking about? I asked you to define what you meant by god. I asked politely as well. I was interested in your answer and then you returned with a non-answer that was BS. I didn't say it was BS to offend you, it was simply the truth. Your statement was completely meaningless. Sorry I asked in the first place. You clearly don't know what you are talking about and probably never will.

  • @TheDeathwish1977 your thoughts should probably best be keeped to yourself...religion has no place left in youtube

  • @TheDeathwish1977 If watching a novelty video on youtube stops someone believing in an all powerful creator, then that person didn't really believe in a religion anyway.

  • @TheDeathwish1977 I was an atheist with SOS. In fact, one need not be invested in science in even the slightest to be an atheist. They are not one in the same, so your criticism is misplaced and misguided.

  • My brain has no problems coping with the vast space but somehow i am completely baffled that these sort of subjects isn´t talked about in the mainstream.

It really disturbs me, i mean how can you not find space the most interesting thing ever.

Fuck your life, what it is compared to space? Thus, i don´t give a damn about my life because at the end of the day when im dead it doesn´t matter what i did or believed in.

  • @GeneralRushHour that's sickening.

  • @GeneralRushHour Everything we do and say matters because it has a ripple effect. People who find value only in space miss out on why we're here. My favorite hymn this time of year is O Holy Night and the line from it: when the Soul feels it's worth. You matter, and what you do has value. Never sell yourself short. The fact that we have beliefs is an amazing feature of what makes us human. There's magic in believing. Psychokinesis & psycho-sematic. All things are possible to him who believes.

  • @GeneralRushHour I agree. It doesn't matter whatever you do in your life, you will die and people will forget about you. Even the worst or best person will one day will be forgotten and there not a thing anyone can do about. The reason people are alive is because we are like animals, only striving to live day to day even when in the end it doesn't what you do nobody will remember or care in time.

  • this sounds like porn lol

  • I find the reality thrilling!

  • "Matter flows from place to place and momentarily comes together to be you. Some people find that thought disturbing. I find the reality thrilling."

    -Richard Dawkins

I suppose this means you have and always will exist, just not always in the form you are now. There's a comforting sense of eternity in that.

  • @TubeYou2251 The energy of the sun and the matter of the earth came together to make carrots, peas, and the grass eaten by cows. That made a beef stew that you father ate a dew days before you were conceived. How many of those sperm that followed the one that made you could have been potential scientists, politicians, artists, or businesspeople?

  • @overusedoxymoron2003 None. You have potential because you exist. The fact that you're here writing on this upload is 1:1 odds. There are no odds for potential for that which doesn't exist.

  • God created evolution and science. Open your mind.

  • @houstonmaverick

    "Open your mind."

    - Funny statement from someone who can't even see the flaws in his own world view...

  • @keesengels Argue instead of attacking the man who is behind the statement.

  • Can you idiots stop talking about religion, and instead discuss the greatness of the video and the issues and people it's about.

  • @SirToshley Us, idiots, have already gotten past the lure of video and are fully prepared to discuss the issues and people it is comprised of; in which are all created (creationism) from evolution by some higher power (god/science). Open your mind to a higher power...

  • Michio Kaku is God.

  • all yall need to stop worshipping these scientist and recognize that you have a creator and his name is GOD,, if you dont yall goin ta hell

  • @dec0y8

lol get the fuck out of here. You can take your eternal damnation and shove it up your ass.

  • @dec0y8 cool story bro

  • @dec0y8 What you religious people only have to defense against atheists is that we'll go to hell if we don't worship God. I think God are going to send YOU religious people to hell who threaten us, all the time by an statement as that. I rather think God "wants" us to explore "his" "creation" rather than you terrorize us with your low moral.

  • @dec0y8 you need to realize you worship mythology and idolize stupidity. if you say "worship science" well of course, we use science every day and its proveable and demonstratable. your god or any other god has never been demonstratable and is therefore supernatural and doesnt take prescedence over factual accounts that sceince records

  • @mikeyg789 Well there has never been any scientific argument that could overrule or invalidate the existence of god.

  • @danishcamb

No, but there have been overwhelming amounts of evidence for the way things progressed since 1 to the -43rd power seconds after the 'Big Bang'. All of which require no god.

Also, god as a concept has not been disproven. The Christian version, along with every other human interpretation of God ( <= enter major religion here) HAS been disproven. And so have many of the holy stories, from the Tora to the Ramayana.

  • @keesengels ... But the first second may have been created by a divine power. Who really knows. Jesus along with moses joseph and such haven't been disproven?

  • @danishcamb

The first second might have been, yes. But do you realise that any divine action has been reduced from creating everything to a possible influence for 0,0000000000000000000000000000001 seconds before everything started? Quite the devaluation ;)

Also, Jesus has not been disproven, but his miracles have been. Through science, I might add. Same goes for Mozes, Esther, Samson and all others who do wondrous things: their actions have been disproven.

  • @keesengels First of all the miracles og Jesus and Moses haven't been disproven, what about Jesus curing people and Moses dividing the seas creating a path?

Second of all there's no devaluation, not if god knew how everything would become from the first second till man walked on earth. Do you realize how many factors intervene for life to even exist on earth? Only the slightest of change through the making of earth could prove fatal to all life.

  • @danishcamb

Miracles of Jesus: it is physically impossible to revive a person with merely placing your hands upon them. It takes a profound knowledge of medical techniques, equipment and medication which were not available to people at the time. Also, your source of information is the Bible, which itself has been proven to be shaky at best.

Miracle of the parting sea: it goes against several laws of nature to push water aside, not even counting the energy requires.

    So yes, they HAVE been...

  • @keesengels

"Second of all there's no devaluation, not if god knew how everything would become from the first second till man walked on earth."

    - Read carefully what you just wrote. This means that he initiated it at the very beginning, but has had no influence over it since. After all, the laws of physics have dictated what happened since. Why pray to a being that can't change anything anymore?

  • @keesengels HAHA, you had to prove yourself wrong and comment on your own post. HA. And people pray to a being because they still need hope and something to make sense of what doesn't make sense, Not everyone can and will have a scientific mind. And Even in the world of science they have said there is a form of energy in the body that when harnessed and manipulated can do things that we don't understand. Like the theory of Gravity. It's there, But it's not a law.

  • @Ahiatua

I corrected myself on purpose ;)

And this form of energy, I find that intriguing. I haven't found that in my studies. Could you please tell me where I can find that? Forgive me for not accepting it just like that ;)

And there are other ways to cling to hope. Snuggle up with a blankie. Buy a teddy bear. Talk to friends. Join a sport club. Discuss on a forum. Why use a supernatural being?

  • @keesengels You've just confirmed that it Jesus made miracles and that they were divine, not manmade. Are you sure you are not a christian? ;)

  • @danishcamb

I did no such thing. I am pretty sure I proved that the so-called 'miracles' can't happen in real life. That
