I had another thought, is someone from Peterborough Needs PCVS able to write an automated letter that could speak for most people concerning this issue? Are you involved with them? I'll email them as well about this. I think lots of people just feel overwhelmed by setting aside time to carefully write out a letter themselves, most Causes events don't require an original letter each time.

I graduated from a high school not unlike this one in Mississauga (C.P.S.S) and I can say that attending a high school with a regional arts program has changed and enriched my life. I spent grade 9 at another school and in comparison, I wish that everyone could have gone to a school like P.C.V.S. because the passion of the students and faculty make for an amazing learning environment that carries over into other non-arts subject areas as well. The disregard for arts in our education system is appalling, our neighbors to the south have all but eliminated it in most schools, and research shows that it has not been to the benefit of their students. Peterborough, invest in your youth-keep the arts alive!! Schools in the downtown cores allow more students to attend, and makes them students of the world because they see more, live more-care more.

I would have finished highschool the first time around had I been able to attend a school such as this. The school I attended had very little in the way of arts programs, and being an art oriented individual, the academics tended to bore me and I gave up in pursuit of more artistic endeavours. I soon realized that I needed to have the academics so I went back when I was older, but I often wonder how I would have fared having attended a school where the arts were considered important.

Having attended PCVS, transferring there after a not so enjoyable atmosphere at another high school in grade 9, I can say the sense of school community fostered at the school was unmatched by any school I've had experience with. I am proud to call it my high school. It is also an economic necessity for the downtown. City of Peterborough has spent the last 20 years trying to rejuvenate the downtown, and when I come to visit it surely has come a long way, without the student pop. it may die slowly

Smaller and specialized schools are being lost and forgotten in non-metropolitan areas all across Canada, and Peterborough is hardly a little place. My own elementary school was shut forever earlier this year. The world's greatest problem solvers are nearly always talented in many ways, from their youth, and they didn't all grow up in large cities. We need creative young people more than ever before. This is beautiful. I hope your school doesn't die.
