There's no need to add water. Packed snow is lighter, less likely to collapse (and less danger if it does), and a better insulator. If you build a packed-snow igloo, after one night of two humans plus a candle inside, the inner surface will be iced and the whole thing very hard just from standing and setting together. Snow is amazing stuff! If you can't cut blocks of snow, better to do a quimzee.
My sister had to make an igloo back when she was in high school, but I couldn't imagine for the life of me how one did it! Man, that must have taken a doggone long time!
lol I know you guys aren't in the right climate to make proper igloos, but you shouldn't be adding water to your snow. You should be compacting it by stomping on it with a piece of wood to entangle the ice crystals for strength.
thats pretty cool.. kind of cheating my my book but i live in oregon where theres plenty of packed snow so i guess i cant complain. only good igloo building vid on youtube... i think i might upload one eventually... lol
you don't get much better than this... i made a car once, and the classic couch but never the man power to make something like this. up in ohio in the states the weather is 50/50 warm/cold so in the summer my brothers build damns in rivers to change the flow, good outdoor fun
This process seems like it would take forever. Too much patience is involved for me.

Ive made an 8ft diameter igloo, solo, in one day.
I made a huge pile then caved my way in.
Me and my friend lit a fire and slept in it :P

Why not add water to snow? I do it and my igloo was stronger than ever when the block froze together.
