@davejoshmom1 Agee on the first part but the laptop here has 7, dumb mistake but It only has the 4 gig ram, actually it runs ok on 1 and 1/2 gig's unlike vista. but it only has 250 HD and what the hell ever toshiba has for a video card and honestly other then the fact IT IS 7 it runs great. windows 7 is a total piece of shit. Hard to do home maintenance, never just shuts down, always have to force it, it runs hot, to many things running in the back ground you will NEVER use. Only thing good about it is the driver load where it searches online and you do not need a disk, no ping for hackers to track you and downloads faster, Over all though its a kids toy. XP even when its no longer supported Ill have it built enough Ill never need there stock shit. they should a stayed

If you want Windows Vista without the glitch, use Windows XP Service Pack 3! It has the wallpapers of Windows Vista and the start orb, also including the basic theme! It also includes BMW wallpapers. @89990000 Ive always had SP 3. I had to download the vista bar. Had 4 XP bars that was it. Up shot is I got a totally custom bar, 2 gold xp bars, 3 different versions of vista bars and 7 black. OH and XP black with several different start button colors. weird thing is I always thought there was only 1 vista, but turn's out there was 2 , black and some ugly purple skinny thing and one thats like black but greyish, they call it aero but I dont think aero in vista had grey bar.

@DrG241 You are lying.You clearly never used Linux or Mac OS X.Sorry,but Windows sucks the most.Macs are too simple and too automatic (in my opinion,though someone may like it).Linux is perfection.Only things that Linux distros lack are DirectX (though that can be run through Wine) and games.
Oh and to explain why Windoze sucks;Too slow,least innovative,services,driver/device support,flexibility and probably ton of other things.
@xan1242 I suppose you are the type of person to assume you pick up a new Windows 7 desktop/laptop and everything is to your liking and design. Sorry cupcake but it doesn't work that way. While Mac may be simple and automatic, it doesn't make them the best (Yes, I have used a Mac, 10.6 Snow Leopard to be exact). Neither am I saying Windows is the best, because yes, it has flaws, but to get the best out of it, you will have to do some manual tweaking.

And I want Windows to be faster but no...I have a gaming PC and it still isn't good enough for any Windows NT 6.0 and later. (That is,Vista and later)
I did every single thing possible and it is still slow as shit.Too slow boot times,too slow shutdown times and Explorer.exe freezes all the time so I have to get Total Commander.
@xan1242 Well there's your problem. you are using a business oriented OS. There's allot more running in the background ergo its cluttering up the system during game play. Get XP win pack 3 home. Put in a good firewall and set all other added oin systems to manual start. meanwhile turn off file sharing, set Firewall to inadvisable, helps keep traffic out slowing you down an internet booster that opens up your internet connection, slam it wide open. and ask google what other tweaks you need
@whiskeydence02 when you are done you will be very bare boned in back ground files running, None will be needed and most help privacy, Your connection will be way boosted up there, get one or 2 turbo boosters that shut more op sys's down or one paid gamer, and you wont have buy 5 on home eddition Windows systems running at start up and your firewall and that should be it. You wanna do other stuff it should work fine but if you want more versatile throw another hard drive in and format it to
@whiskeydence02 what ever windows you want and on start up it WILL ask you sense they are both formated and not just running off one disk witch you want to boot on. If the other isnt formated its just storage. It wont ask cause itll be running off the main drive. Do THAT and the game drive you need wont be more then what you need for the light XP OS and how ever many games you want, or add a third drive for storage, and use a small drive just for the game OS plus your web drive, makes 3.

@xan1242 ehh, Windows has allot of flexibility if you DL the shit you need. You can pretty much get everything you need for it. And it's good if you configure it right. Sure theres allot that runs you dont need at first but that can be tweaked out. XP anyway, 7 and especially Vista are pretty much garbage but XP even when it gets unsupported a few hard and software upgrades and itll still be fully functional online for years to come, Way more then 2000 can even say. It was almost perfect

@DrG241 Well 2014 hollywood is going to linux as there main OS for movie making and production so 7 can't be all that great. I have XP and 7 and I havnt found allot about 7 I like. To hard to do home maintenance or to configure and always running loads in the background you will never use. Always haver to force shut down, from day 1 7 lost my respect. XP should have been built on and Vista should have just been scrapped, NOT reavamped for 7.

OS is nothing but hype... the one good thing about a Mac (MacBook Pro, specifically) is the aluminum unibody. But the hp's envy series, acer's timeline series, and dell's magnificent adamo xps may cut into Apple's branding pretty soon. Add that to the fact that the older generation and worse-off are also beginning to pick up their iPhones and iTouchs.. I would say that Apple is gonna have a full-fledged branding crisis going on soon.

Ever sniffle they DO get is catastrophic to a mac. Why do you think after about 6 months they get glitchy and only have an avg life span of 2 years? they are virused. Take a PC avg. life expectancy of what 8 to 10 years? till the software is obsolete and you can't run the newer soft ware anymore?
@whiskeydence02 get 20 years out of a 32 but if you dont use it for much online I bet, easily 20 out of a 64 bit cause it takes about 10 years for Processors and internet software to really give a damn about eachother in that range. I have a 15 inch macbook pro and it runs everything i need perfectly. Lets just wait till midd 2010 when Microsoft releases office 2010 with outlook for mac. That is the only reason why professionals still stick to VISTA.
Well, just from using both i'll have to say i'm throughly impressed at how easy 7 is to use.
On the other hand though the only time i get to use a Mac is during computer art class. I don't know i think i'd end up liking the Mac more just because of the way it organizes stuff. Also NO professional i've heard of uses Vista besides the Quiznos down my street lolz XD.

With my experience (on a very good computer), it is hard to say something of good.(I don't care about the GUI of an OS, except how it take the PC's ressources.)

I talked my mom into trying it, that wont happen again. screw up XP 89% of the time I can fix it right here, win7 Even google looks at me funny when I ask it what to do. 7 is a normal surf and stream machine. messing ith its settings is dangerous and so is trying to modify it. Ergo to hard to make it into what you want as a personal machine. Still better then MAC though.

@xan1242 I suppose you are the type of person to assume you pick up a new Windows 7 desktop/laptop and everything is to your liking and design. Sorry cupcake but it doesn't work that way. While Mac may be simple and automatic, it doesn't make them the best (Yes, I have used a Mac, 10.6 Snow Leopard to be exact). Neither am I saying Windows is the best, because yes, it has flaws, but to get the best out of it, you will have to do some manual tweaking.

And I want Windows to be faster but no...I have a gaming PC and it still isn't good enough for any Windows NT 6.0 and later. (That is,Vista and later)
I did every single thing possible and it is still slow as shit.Too slow boot times,too slow shutdown times and Explorer.exe freezes all the time so I have to get Total Commander.

@xan1242 Well there's your problem. you are using a business oriented OS. There's allot more running in the background ergo its cluttering up the system during game play. Get XP win pack 3 home. Put in a good firewall and set all other added oin systems to manual start. meanwhile turn off file sharing, set Firewall to inadvisable, helps keep traffic out slowing you down an internet booster that opens up your internet connection, slam it wide open. and ask google what other tweaks you need

@whiskeydence02 when you are done you will be very bare boned in back ground files running, None will be needed and most help privacy, Your connection will be way boosted up there, get one or 2 turbo boosters that shut more op sys's down or one paid gamer, and you wont have buy 5 on home eddition Windows systems running at start up and your firewall and that should be it. You wanna do other stuff it should work fine but if you want more versatile throw another hard drive in and format it to

@whiskeydence02 what ever windows you want and on start up it WILL ask you sense they are both formated and not just running off one disk witch you want to boot on. If the other isnt formated its just storage. It wont ask cause itll be running off the main drive. Do THAT and the game drive you need wont be more then what you need for the light XP OS and how ever many games you want, or add a third drive for storage, and use a small drive just for the game OS plus your web drive, makes 3.

I said Windows NT 6.0 and later.On Wikipedia it says that OS's based on that kernel are Windows Vista,Windows Seven (beta of 7), Windows Server 2008 (Release 1) and probably others as well.I don't care about Windows 7.Vista is completely the same and it was the last classic Windows.I always put normal taskbar instead of the Windows 7 bar.
Windows is the SLOWEST.That is a fact.Linux and Mac OS X and probably everything else is faster.

@xan1242 ehh, Windows has allot of flexibility if you DL the shit you need. You can pretty much get everything you need for it. And it's good if you configure it right. Sure theres allot that runs you dont need at first but that can be tweaked out. XP anyway, 7 and especially Vista are pretty much garbage but XP even when it gets unsupported a few hard and software upgrades and itll still be fully functional online for years to come, Way more then 2000 can even say. It was almost perfect

@DrG241 Well 2014 hollywood is going to linux as there main OS for movie making and production so 7 can't be all that great. I have XP and 7 and I havnt found allot about 7 I like. To hard to do home maintenance or to configure and always running loads in the background you will never use. Always haver to force shut down, from day 1 7 lost my respect. XP should have been built on and Vista should have just been scrapped, NOT reavamped for 7.

While I will agree that they are grossly overpriced and the
OS is nothing but hype... the one good thing about a Mac (MacBook Pro, specifically) is the aluminum unibody. But the hp's envy series, acer's timeline series, and dell's magnificent adamo xps may cut into Apple's branding pretty soon. Add that to the fact that the older generation and worse-off are also beginning to pick up their iPhones and iTouchs.. I would say that Apple is gonna have a full-fledged branding crisis going on soon.

Ever sniffle they DO get is catastrophic to a mac. Why do you think after about 6 months they get glitchy and only have an avg life span of 2 years? they are virused. Take a PC avg. life expectancy of what 8 to 10 years? till the software is obsolete and you can't run the newer soft ware anymore?

Dude PC's suck thats all there is to it. I there people in some of my classes who have gotten like 7 Trojans like a half hour after their virus protection ran out. Apple only makes products they would want to buy for themselves or someone else. Think about the other computers companies like Compaq who make pieces of crap that they wouldnt even buy for themselves. Mac OSX is also a much superior OS than Windows 7. It's complicated just to move a icon from finder, service packs don't cost 29-69$, and Mac's version of the Start menu sucks. All companies copy from each other. Apple has copied Windows. I have a 15 inch macbook pro and it runs everything i need perfectly. Lets just wait till midd 2010 when Microsoft releases office 2010 with outlook for mac. That is the only reason why professionals still stick to VISTA.

Well, just from using both i'll have to say i'm throughly impressed at how easy 7 is to use.
On the other hand though the only time i get to use a Mac is during computer art class. I don't know i think i'd end up liking the Mac more just because of the way it organizes stuff. Also NO professional i've heard of uses Vista besides the Quiznos down my street lolz XD.

@GoldfishFilms I also helped beta test windows 7 since the alpha (since 2008). I was also one of the first to use the RTM version (on august 2009, so way before it was released). So it is probably a question of opinion :/.Maybe I am wrong, but I don't think so.
With my experience (on a very good computer), it is hard to say something of good.(I don't care about the GUI of an OS, except how it take the PC's ressources.)

I talked my mom into trying it, that wont happen again. screw up XP 89% of the time I can fix it right here, win7 Even google looks at me funny when I ask it what to do. 7 is a normal surf and stream machine. messing ith its settings is dangerous and so is trying to modify it. Ergo to hard to make it into what you want as a personal machine. Still better then MAC though.
