@belybor i watched that video and im sorry but it makes absolutely no sense lol crowds wouldnt realize why someone next to them fell to sniper fire? here's a "subtle" hint the crowd would have: a loud gunshot, a person falls with their brains and blood everywhere. i dont think they'll think the person tripped and fell ;) and snipers have been doing a great job so far in tripoli keeping the ppl there at bay

But honestly i don't see how Gaddafi's men can benefit from shooting live rounds at protesters. Thats just stupid. It will only generate much more hate. So whats the point.

@belybor because it generally works. these arent the first protests in libya, and the other protests were put down with live fire. the reason it failed in the east of libya because gaddafi underestimated the uprising and didnt have enough loyal troops in the area to handle it. he currently holds tripoli because he has enough loyal troops who fire on any small group of people protesting.

And Libya population is nearly 7 million people. So according to you it is 373000 of Gaddafi men against 6627000 of "freedom lovers" in Libya. And all of them can arm themselfs plenty. Tell me - how such a situation could have existed in Libya for 42 years. I don't see how is this possible.

@belybor i dont know what the number is exactly. assume its 5% right? the reason gaddafi is able to hold off attacks in the east and still be around misrata is because of the artillery he has. its tanks and missile launchers vs. AK47s. and in tripoli, the only people with weapons are gaddafi's soldiers, guns are illegal.

how could such a situation exist for 42 years? its the definition of a dictatorship, a few controlling many through fear.

I've seen many videos uploaded to the YT by the "rebels" themselfs where many of heavy weaponry is clearly seen in the hands of the "rebels" (Multiple rocket launchers, T-72 tanks, heavy machineguns, anti-aircraft complexes, RPGs, etc, etc.). So your story about "AK47's only" cant be true.

Plus i've seen videos where even many women at the weapon training are shown. They can't be soldiers for sure. So I think about 5% of Gaddafi supporters you are very wrong after all.

@belybor weapons were illegal in gaddafi's libya. in order to get guns in tripoli, you had to have a "leejan" (revolutionary) card, i.e. proof that you support gaddafi. not everyone got guns. and yes it turned out to be a huge mistake on his part, because some who had cards actually hated gaddafi, and were able to distribute the guns to the non gaddafi supporters, and now u see fighting in areas like tajoura and soog aljomma. and yes the women who r gaddafi supporters were shown training

@ibnomar2005 Well i watched video you suggested. The largest crowds of anti Gaddafi protesters that were shown are clearly at Benghazi and Misrata. But even there they hardly make more than 20.000 people. Actually i googled "thousands demonstration image" and it appears to be that 20k is a much bigger crowd then what we can see at Misrata and Benghazi protests. All other episodes clearly hardly shows more then 1000 protesters gathered.

Not too convincing isn't it? It appears that absolute majority of Libyans supports (at least by not doing anything) Gaddafi and not a revolution. If Gaddafi according to you have so little support why "rebels" are refused ceasefire and referendum elections several times already?

The USA has never supported Gaddafi. He came to power due to a coup in September 1969, was in an alliance with Sowjetunion and connected with Nasser. Gaddafi supported terror against the US (Lockerbie bombing, Berlin discotheque..) called for a NATO of the South, allied with enemies of the US (Chavez..), most of his weapons are from Russia...

Why should the US interfere? It would be against international law and the US has no interests plus the people demand US-isolationism
