Well one thing about mr driller, on the ds version of the game it added the ability to see the top screen as higher above you and you were drilling on the bottom. But I'd consider Mr. Drilller was designed for the arcades (since I remember my first time playing the series was at a gameworks when I was little).
You only talked about Tetris Attack's puzzle mode, and even about that, only briefly, which doesn't make justice to the game, like, at all. Probably one of the most addicting games out there, and you only said a word about it, and only the blandest, least interesting mode.
In my opinion Tetris Attack is incredibly underrated in North America. Very few people give it a shot because the name insists that it is some sort of Tetris remake. The SNES version is amazing and has amazing music, I would highly recommend it to any puzzle fan.
there is a version of Dr.Mario called Dr.Wario, it is an unlockable extra in the first WarioWare game. though I think microgames is a pretty hard to find game now
It definitely makes the game more challenging, but I found the time limit rather short and a bit annoying. To each his own I guess. I prefer Puzzles games that are more strategy than speed.
i agree with you i don't really like time limits either. it makes the game feel rushed and you can't have fun. like a timed test at school. not that tests are fun but nvm
Oh gawd, Mr. Driller. that game is a nightmare. It's fun but it's a nightmare. And they made more. Of course I'm only talking about the ones on the PS1. Messing with that I don't think I would want to bother with the ones on the GBA.
Other than Meteos, Dr. Robotnik's Bean Machine and Columns, I think you hit every one of my favorite puzzle games. Mr. Driller not included. That game never did it for me. As of now, I'm itching for some Dr. Mario, and luckily I still have my old cinder block gameboy to play it on, but only for nostalgia's sake. Great show!
Nice selection, but it'd have been nice to branch away from Nintendo consoles with puzzlers like Mean Bean Machine/Puyo Puyo, Baku Baku Animal and Columns on the Game Gear and Gunpey on the Wonderswan.
Yeah I'm thinking about doing a second one in the future. at the time my ability to record Game Gear footage was limited, but I have it all figured out now. I totally agree though.
Plus this episode has proven to be pretty popular, so I think a follow up is in order. Thanks for watching.
No problemmo, You're a most excellent reviewer and I throughly enjoyed your videos. It's nice to see someone who showcases games in a fair, non-baiest way without resorting to a fanboy rant!
Oh, if you ever do Amiga games, check out "Bill's Tomato Game" very overlooked classic puzzle game, it's just Lemmings overshadowed it at it's time of release.
Well if it's handhelds only ATM, maybe you could look at the Lemmings lineage on handhelds, as the series has appeared on pratically every handheld since the original GB. (except the GBA bizarrely) even the GBC had one.
I think you'll be delighted to find out that there's another Mario's Picross game on the GB, though it's a jap import the ROM has been translated so it's fully playable.
no I liked the Mario theme, It just didn't have much to do with the game. Also I knew there was another one but I didn't know it had been translated. Thanks for watching.
Finally, somebody other than myself has the right idea about Mr. Driller! Everyone is so in love with the colors and the cute characters that they don't realize how shallow and pointless the game really is.
I'd have to disagree with you on Dr. Mario, though. I always thought the game was a half-hearted attempt by Nintendo to cash in on the success of Tetris, without having to pay Alexy royalties. It's a hidden game in Brain Age 2, and for some reason, my mom enjoys it.

Puzzlegames are awesome! My favourite ones are Picross DS and Lumines II right now.
Picross is a nice relaxed game to play, while Lumines makes you feel like on acid after a while! :D

Then you'll be happy to know that I am working on a sequel to this episode right now. It may very well be this weeks show if all goes well :)

Cool, cool, I'm always willing to stumble upon a good handheld puzzler that evaded me.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Mr. Driller is WAY BETTER than Dr. Mario, and there is a story AND ending too.
Mr. Driller never did it for you simply because you don't know how to play this game.

I prefer Dr. Mario. Best puzzle game ever IMO.
