  • I dunno... he just makes too much goddam sense.

  • Nice to Cato giving Dr. Paul his due time. Cato should be for him 100% I suspect Cato's pro abortion leanings are behind much of the luke warmness regarding Ron Paul.

  • @pablocoon I have been trying to understand the ambivalence the Cato/Reason crowd has towards Ron Paul, even the Tea Party for that matter. It seems like he embodies the professed values of these groups more than any politician possibly in the history of the Union. What is the problem here?

  • My President!

  • Everybody needs to start collecting together a survival kit for your homes, and bug out bags for your cars. This shit is going to hit the fan, and when it does, it's going to hit hard! People has estimated 8 and 9 dollar a gallon for gas if we go to war with Iran! When fuel goes up, EVERYTHING goes up! If we go to war with Iran, China might come to their AID, and when we're on the "bad guys" side of a WW3!!!

  • It is so good to see Ron Paul at the Cato Institute. Cato could definitely use a more prominent Austrian flare.

  • @SirTenenbaum Couldn't agree more. The flaws of neoclassical economics seem to water down some of Cato's papers.

  • @mwangolatrue Wow! That was fast. Do you guys have little comities that watch the comments on these videos for evil "statists" to comment? Do you know you just made an argument to topics I didn't even mention? I didn't mention anything about the Governemnt or "American empire" theories. And somehow me not liking Ron Paul makes me an empire loving socialist? That's pathetic! You know, it's funny how some of you libertarians sound like communists.

  • I find it hilarious how so many of these commenters are saying that Ron Paul is our "only" hope and in some cases our "savior." As if he is Jesus! Hahaha . . .

By the way, I agree with Ron Paul when it comes to economics for the most part, but I totally disagree with his foreign policy. Go ahead and give me crap, but that's where I stand.

  • @ThePoliticalInformer

Are you sure you can't live without an American Empire ?

Just has it is deluding to think of the government has the panacea of domestic problems, it is deluded to see it has the panacea of international problems.

  • thanks dr. Paul for your educating nation and the world what the rest would hide from us.

  • I don't know about you, but he just looks so presidential.

  • Ron Paul is our last, best hope.

  • One sound man!

  • Well done Ron Paul. Private money for the win. Abolish the State.

Now compare this guy's speech with that of Shelton's watch?v=L6HLNv0SVPQ

  • 20 seamless, coherent minutes. And nary a teleprompter in sight!

  • @rubbersole79 It will be funny to watch Obama try and debate Dr.Paul, how will he do it without his teleprompter. I look forward to that.

  • @johnnycmajor oh God please we can only hope!!!!

  • @johnnycmajor Be careful what you wish for. What Dr. Paul says might make sense to you, but to many people it can sound crazy. Obama could easily do something like claim Ron Paul would eventually want to eliminate OSHA (which is hopefully true) and allow companies to abuse workers and force unsafe conditions on them (of course untrue). Obama could get away with doing little things like that and always put Paul on the defensive.

  • @SirTenenbaum He will try, the fact that obama signed the NDAA. and SOPA movement and Libya war without asking congress will not work in obmama favour , and I'm not sure how many really believe the tall tail that Obama had Ole bin killed without any body, all this is going to work terribly in against obama. If Ron Paul gets that far I think you will see obama stumbling around without his teleprompter. Not to mention the spending and job loss. The 200,000 macdonald type jobs??

  • @johnnycmajor Obama'll keep it on Foreign Policy: "You wouldn't have invaded Pakistan to kill Osama bin Laden". The Pavlovian crowd will jeer RP while he describes the concept of "International Law".

    I am a pessimist.

  • @rubbersole79

oh please not the teleprompter tripe again!

  • @TheAtheistPaladin

"O" don't go without one often, and downright embarrasin' at times when he does....we've all seen the clips....

  • @rubbersole79

Every president has used it. So I say again, not with the teleprompter tripe. It really makes you look like you're ignorant and fox news is the only channel you watch.

  • @TheAtheistPaladin Interesting. I wasn't aware they had teleprompters prior to the later 20th century. The historic breadth of the atheistic liberal is truly astounding.

  • @Texcentric

Only a moron would take it literally. You knew exactly what was meant by it.

  • @TheAtheistPaladin You're right, I did know exactly what you meant by it. However, you were being such a pompous ass & acting so above your pay grade that I couldn't help but capitalize on the sloppiness of your vocabulary & short-circuited brain power, which was so incongruous with your pose you silly, silly person. Naughty naughty me :^)

  • @Texcentric

Yes, it is really pompous to look at things objectively. Next time I be sure to criticize one president for something that doesn't even matter, and then ignore everything that shows that just about every president does it anyways.

  • @TheAtheistPaladin

Sorry. Mostly PBS Newshour and RT News for me, but I check others out sometimes. So what?

  • @rubbersole79

Funny, don't remember those organizations talking about teleprompters...

  • thank you Dr. Paul Paul/Stills 2012 :)

  • I would say you should look into "Monetary Reform Act", (supported by Dr. Friedman: “I am entirely sympathetic with the objectives of your Monetary Reform Act…I am impressed by your attention to detail in your successive revisions… Milton Friedman”).

And you can consider voting for Bill Still in 2012. He's running on a Libertarian Party ticket. Go to:

  • The Constitution says in Article 1, Section 8, clause 5 states that Congress was “to coin money.” The word coin was used as a verb and means Congress should create the money.

Ron Paul seems to touch the issue of fractional reserve lending but I'm not sure where he really stands on this issue. Maybe some of you can help me out.

But fractional reserve banking is just fraud. Why should anyone be allowed to loan out money they don't have? It needs to be stopped.

  • @eric5335 Because then people wouldn't get loans if it didn't exist. The problem with a fractional reserve system is the fact that the money they essentially borrow/create is pretty much at a 0% interest rate, where as the person taking out the loan isn't ha.

  • @eric5335 You are absolutely right. When they allowed a single dollar to carry the value of as much as 10 dollars in the economy, the biggest bubble in history was created. During poor economic cycles, it is unsustainable and creates more bad legislation to perpetuate it. Common sense knows better...

  • @eric5335 My guess is that he supports Rothbard's belief in 100% reserves, but won't enforce such a policy.

  • @DarthKrattus Paul seems like a Misesian, but not quite a Rothbardian. I'd call him a moderate libertarian.

  • @032125 I think he leans towards Rothbard, but has decided his best course of action is to brand himself a Constitutionalist and work to that end. I'll take it.

  • @rockhuddy Aye, that's how I see it. I'm philosophically Hoppean, but Ron Paul is good people and at least he's running the ball in the right direction.

  • Every dollar represents debt. And every dollar is created and the money supply increased when someone's going to the bank to get a loan which they have to pay the interest on. Yet the money for the interest is not there and has never been there so the only place someone can get the money to pay the interest is to get it from someone else (who also got it from a bank) or they can get it from the same place they got the loan, the bank by taking another loan. That's why the debt's getting bigger

  • The government should issue money but debt-free. Eliminate government borrowing money with interest from the big banks. A sovereign nation does not have to have a national debt, it can issue the money completely debt-free without interest. A nation issuing it's own money is very much part of the sovereignty of the nation. America needs to escape the debt-serfdom. Money is only a medium of exchange, but now money is evidence of debt and should therefore instead be evidence of wealth.

  • @eric5335 Senate Document No. 43, 73rd Congress, 1st Session, which states: "The ownership of all property is in the state; individual so-called 'ownership' is only by virtue of the government, i.e., law, amounting to mere user; and use must be in accordance with law and subordinate to the necessities of the state."

  • @eric5335 Congressional Record, March 9, 1933 on HR 1491 p. 83. "Under the new law the money is issued to the banks in return for government obligations, bills of exchange, drafts, notes, trade acceptances, and bankers acceptances. The money will be worth 100 cents on the dollar, because it is backed by the credit of the nation. It will represent a mortgage on all the homes, and other property of all the people of the nation."

  • @eric5335 sorry not trying to spam you just giving proof of statement plus the Constitution Say we have the right to property and they can not take it with out Due process and they just made that illegal to with senate bill 1867 we are in trouble my friend :(

  • Love Ron Paul, wish he didn't use "a" so much when he was thinking though. But if it comes between having a candidate that thinks and one that doesn't I'll choose the thinking man every time.
