  • We took many chances then... Nobody ever gave me a medal and didnt earn an extra penny for the risk.

  • For your Clutch and Brake requirements visit cohortmfg

  • Fishing for Kraken is dangerous.

  • HI did this job in the middle 70s to 82 and it was a graft of a job and you did not finnish untill the anchor job(as it was known ) was done and if it was during bad weather it could have been upto 36 + hours and Depending who your skipper was you used to get a bottle of rum after the job was finnished,ok now as they have no pelican hooks to play about just as fraserjlretson said in his comment, i sailed with companys such as Seaforth Maritime and Oceon inchcape who now dont have any boats

  • Just a "normal" day in the wintry Nordsea office. Had this experience myself for many years. We just did the job without complaints or safety lines as they could hamper an escape. This was the very reason that Smit Lloyd had a worldwide reputation. Nothing could stop us. And we where proud to be part of the company. Working an offshore crane, I see the guys on deck getting annoyed when their boots get wet. I think they don't want to go outside the house on a rainy day.

  • what is that?working w/out safety gear, no way

  • Jesus Christ! hope, he earns a lot for doing this job (but I guess, he doesn't).

Does anyone knows, if these guys use safetyropes or something like that?

Seems, my Computerjob is not THAT bad.....

  • big work

  • what is that idiot doin??

there might be one big wave coming up and than he is screwed

  • He is doing what he is supposed to be doing, letting the captain know where the anchor chain is leading.

You don't want the chain in contact with propellers / rudders. He can't do that from the messroom. Dangerous perhaps, but by far most of us survived.

  • ok sorrym, was stupid of me to react like that!

Of course dangerous business, but i have respect, when someone earnes his money that way

    greetz

  • life is sweet between the crashrails, saltwater in me boots, wet jocks with a hot shower to look forward to.

  • Doedikkehansworst - Amen ! Had myself some years of that back in the 70's-80's.

Sometimes it could be some 40-60 hours before we got that hot shower.

    Not much HSE back then.

  • mooie beelden jako!

  • Olde School anchor handling! pelican hooks, deadman wires, round buoys, no hours of work, no ppe, no working limits. We've come a long way. Hats off to the guys that did it like this bck in the day. Its still a tough job but miles safer. Anchor Crankin rocks!

  • Hollands Glorie Potverdorie!!

  • zo is't! mannen van staal en de schepen van smit, de gouden tijd! niets meer van over helaas!

  • Fascinating. Respect to Seafarers. How to they avoid being swept off? Why are they not wearing harnasses?
