  • soooooo cute.

    i want her

  • shes really cute but its not real. She has memorized where the cards are and when u say the sounds she will go to each in order.all u have to do is keep repeating and repeating untill she get them in the right order. Not that hard of a "trick"

  • If you watch all of Sweetie's Youtube videos and the videos on her website, you will see that it is impossible for her to memorize the location of every thing she points to. And even if she did memorize where these things are, she would be the smartest dog in the world! These videos show just a small part of what Sweetie is capable of doing.

  • actually dogs can memorize the SHAPES of the words, not the order. you're such a stickler. seriously my dog can do almost the same thing. he knows WORDS. i can tell him to do something he's never heard before, like, Shasta, go jump into the bathtub, and he'll jump into the bathtub. seriously, dogs are smarter than you think. and i put HOURS of work a DAY with my dog. he knows the tricks, but he's being a little shit and pretends he doesn't remember. its a game to the dogs. dufus.

  • I did not teach her what any of these things are. She could identify them the first time she saw them.

But I agree, dogs are a lot smarter than we realize, even when ours are so smart!

  • wow that is a smart dog you must be a great trainer!!!

  • Sweetie has an intense desire to do this. She could not wait to learn dog tricks. I only taught her to show me the treat with her paw while she was sitting. I put these items in front of her, and the first time she saw each item, she could identify it with her paw. See all of her Youtube videos and the videos on her website for a sampling of what Sweetie can do.

  • i saw you on pet star today and decided to look you up and see comments because when i saw sweetie "identify" letters....I noticed a pattern....she always goes to your right, left and then the middle.....if she can truly identify letters, you need to mix it up so people that are attentive like me can become believers too

  • If you view all of Sweetie's Youtube videos and the ones on her website, you will see there is no pattern. She also can do this with 4 items in front of her. How could a dog remember all those patterns? Do you think the producers of "The Tonight Show" would have put her on if there was a pattern. They watched her in dress rehearsal for at least 30 minutes. They were amazed by Sweetie.

  • Aww I Love This Dog I am Definatley Suscribing My Cat Used to talk and he said hello and thankyou Lol

  • Thank you for your kind words. I love her too!

  • very smart dog! :)

  • What a beautiful and of course, smart little dog.

How long did it take to train her to do this?

  • Thank you. Sweetie is beautiful in and out. I only taught her to point to a treat I would hold up in the air. She was so smart, I put her toys in front of her, sat her down, and asked her to show me the birdie. She went and put her paw on it. I never taught her letters, numbers, colors, shapes, or any of the other things you see her point to in these Youtube videos or the videos on her website. She knew what everything was the first time she saw them.

  • ok you dont have to lie to us

  • There is no lie here. This is exactly the way it happened. How do you teach this to a dog? If you see all of her Youtube videos and the ones on her website, you sit and figure out how long it would take you to teach all of that to a child, and then figure out if you could even teach this to a dog. A professor at a Veterinary School shows a video of Sweetie tohis students.

  • don't have to get defensive, that dog is awesome and obviously very intelligent but your lying if you say she was born that way. the dog was taught and remembers the the placement and layout of the cards/letters/numbers. proof of that is when you flipped them over, she cant see them, she just remebers where they are and you tell her what card to step on in a certain sequence that she remembers. post a vid of you shuffling the cards then telling her to step on them, i will be BLOWN AWAY

  • There was a recent study reported on ABC news that showed that animals can remember the location of where things were after they have been removed. They have a much greater capacity to do this than people do. It is an instinctual thing based on the ability to survive.

  • Shes gorgeous

  • she is so smart, love her so cute, hope my dog is like this in the future,

  • Awesome!

    Looks like it's having fun.

    (Unlike me at school lol.)

  • WHAT AN AWESOME DOG!

  • Thank you for your kind comment. Sweetie is awesome in every way. I hope you can see how much she enjoys doing this. She loves to talk! She will stop doing "letters" and start talking. She will say "I love you" for an hour and want to keep going!

  • aww she looks like a plush puppie

  • wow what a great little dog! She's amazing! Our animals are always smarter than we think:)

  • What makes her so amazing is that I didn't teach her what letters, etc. are. She knew it all the first time I put it in front of her.

  • Your dog is awesome!

Does she remember the actual symbols or are the commands a place to go?

  • Thank you. I live the dream every day!

  • She knows what everything is. I have a list of about 25 categories of things she knows, including playing cards, clipart, coins, shapes, colors, etc. She will spell multiple words from letters. It does not matter what order the items are placed in. She loves to do this so much, she "hounds" me until I do it with her. She knew everything the first time she saw it.

  • that is a really awesome dog you got there!! It is so cute when it says "I Love You"! :-)

  • She is awesome in every way possible. I hope you saw all of her videos. That is just a sampling of the fascinating things Sweetie can do.

  • How do we know the dog isn't just reading your body language? You know which card she needs to go for and she can probably detect any subtle changes in your body language, such as the direction you are looking and small, unintentional changes in body position.

  • Because I stay absolutely still and I do not do anything to lead her one way or another. Sweetie many times is not even looking at me when I ask her to point to something. I sometimes close my eyes before I ask her for something. You can see Sweetie perform live on Pet Star. One judge says he sees no clues from me directing Sweetie to what I ask for. Seeing is believing!

  • Will you teach her to say other things?

  • I haven't, and I don't think I will. I don't want to confuse her. None of the other things dogs typically "say," like "mama" don't require pronunciation. She has so much fun saying this that I don't see any reason to have her say anything else. When she watches me eat, she starts saying "I love you" so I will give her a piece. It is so cute!

  • Memory game...center, left, right...

  • Check out the 7 youtube video of Sweetie, and the video on her website. Sometimes, I put out 4 things. I don't call things in the same order all the time. Sweetie can do everything you see on the videos when the items are shuffled and put in any order. She can do this with five things in front of her. She has done this in front of tv producers, directors and tv reporters.

  • ur dog is cute. did u ever teach it this trick before? set out a number of stuff like caps or somthing. make her count it and set out a bunch of cards with numbers and tell her to select the card with the number of caps on it. like there are 6 caps and tell her to select 6.

  • The first time Sweetie saw the things she is pointing to, she knew what they were. I never taught her what any of these things were. There are more Youtube videos and videos on her website. That is just a sampling of what she can do. She is also that smart in everything she does!

  • got damnit teach me.

  • Sweetie could not wait to talk. As soon as I started teaching her, she started to mimic me. It took about 40 minutes to teach her to say it. The other things, she knew them the first time she saw them. She loves to do this so much, she begs me to do "letters." Make sure you see all of the Youtube videos and the videos on her website to see a sampling of what she can do.

  • ur my inspiration

  • One smart dog and cute to

  • Cute :) i love her

  • If she were so smart, wouldn't she look at the letter or suit before choosing it?

I'll admit the talking is pretty cool, but other than than it's pure memorization of order. I think this is proved when the cards are flipped over. She memorizes middle-right-left. Then when the cards are flipped she memorizes middle-left-right.

  • A dog can see more in front of them than we can. She only has to look once to know where the letters are. Animals are better than people are at remembering where things were they can no longer see, according to a story on ABC news. There are more than a dozen videos of Sweetie pointing to things on Youtube and her website. Does she have the order of everyone of those things memorized? If she had memorized the order in every video, wouldn't that be amazing and truly smart?

  • Wow, she is one smart dog!!! How did she learn how to do all that....traning?knowledge?or did she just learn on her own? She really seems like a sweetie!! :) Oh, and why doesnt she have long fur? Cute dog :)

  • Sweetie is brilliant! She knew everything the first time I put it in front of her. I only taught her to show me a treat with her paw. She figured out herself to walk up to what I ask for and point to it. Sweetie loves to perform. Make sure you see the other Youtube videos and the "incredible videos" on her website. I like Sweetie in a short hair cut.

  • Wow, thats awesome!

  • since the owner kept saying "good girl" repeatedly, lets assume sweetie is in fact a girl -.-

  • thats soo funny

  • Wow that dog is so human,it also reminds me my favorate childhood movie called the never ending story it looks like him.Thank you for uploading these video, and take good care of him a lot.

  • Make sure you see all the Youtube videos and the ones on her website. Sweetie is very human. We believe she is reincarnated. Sweetie lives with my mother and me. When we asked her who she was, she repeatedly spelled "MOM." When we asked her the name of the soul inside of her, she repeatedly spelled out my grandmother's name, my mother's mother. Sweetie watches over my mother just like my mother's mother would.

  • tell sweetie that i am his number one fan, she is so cuuuuute i love her, or he

  • wow! sweetie is a very smart dog! Do you take her in competitions? How does she do?

  • Sweetie was on "Pet Star," and she got a perfect 30 points from the judges. They were totally amazed at what Sweetie could do. She showed them her skills in the middle of the stage, with no one behind me "leading" her, as some might think. The first reporter to see her was Don Lemon, from CNN. He told me he never saw anything like her, ever!

  • wow! that is awesome!

  • wow! Sweetie is one cute and smart dog! Are there any competitions you take her in? How does she do?

  • My dog looked exactly like yours when she was a little younger, and she understands a lot of words and phrases. We have always wondered what kind of dog this is?

  • Sweetie is a maltese. They usually have long, straight white hair down to the floor.

  • you have one cool dog could you tell me how you trained her

  • I only taught Sweetie to show me the treat with her paw. Sweetie adapeted that herself to showing me the toy I asked for with her paw. No matter what I put in front of her, she can pick out what I ask for with her paw. Read the home page of her website.

  • this dog is quite an amazing and cute one indeed, I would be VERY proud

  • I am VERY, VERY, VERY PROUD! What makes Sweetie so amazing is that I never taught her what letters, card suits, number, colors, shapes, numbers of buttons in a pile, words, and other things she knows is. She knew what everything was the first time I put them in front of her.

  • What a cute little dog!! I love her. Thanks for posting. :-)

  • I am glad you enjoyed watching her. She is a gift from God. Check out the other Youtube videos and the incredible videos on her website.

  • What kind of dog is Sweetie?

  • Sweetis is a maltese. She is a little bigger than a typical maltese. Must be she has a bigger brain!

  • Spelled Sweetie wrong.

  • Cute dog she really is smart. I am trying 2 teach my dog 2 talk but he won't learn.

  • Sweetie was so anxious to talk she started to mimic me the first few times I said it to her.

  • wow soz i didnt belive u 4 a sec.....u sure its not magic...and u sure the dog was born in earth?...

  • Sweetie has done what you are seeing in front of television reporters and producers. We believe she is reincarnated, because she knew all the things the first time she saw them. She spelled out the name of my grandmother when I asked her who was the soul inside her.

  • THAT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO KOOL

  • See the other Youtube videos of Sweetie and the "incredible videos" on her website. You have seen a tiny bit of what she can do.

  • thats very interesting!!

  • Make sure you see the other Youtube videos of Sweetie and the "Incredible videos" on her website. Sweetie can do a lot more than what you will see in those videos!

  • show the dog stepping on the numbers and letter then mix them up and have her stand on them again. it seems like she just memorizes where they are

  • She can do letters, etc., in any order, and she has done it in front of many television producers and reporters. There are about a dozen videos on the net of Sweetie doing this, and the order I call the letters is different in all of them. If she could remember the order in each video, that itself would make her "The Smartest Dog!"
