@Deidarasblondlover I think it's mainly due to the fact that Apollo had pretty much no development, and Phoenix kinda stole the show. It wasn't really Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. It was Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Apollo Justice. And it may be due to the fact that Phoenix lost his badge in the cheapest way ever, and it was so unfair that some fans just hate this game based on that. AJ was awesome, though. Apollo just needs more time to grow on up, is all. We need a sequel to this game!

@GormTheElder Apollo was not a replacement for Phoenix Wright. This game was intended to stand on it's own, PW would not have been in it were it not for executive meddling. The PW trilogy wrapped itself up in T&T, it had nowhere else to go. The bar for PW:AA was set so high in the conclusion to the trilogy that if the creator tried to write a 4th installment based around PW it was probable that it would not have been well recieved. How do you top the ending to T&T? I don't think it's possible.
Anyway, I noticed just now your interesing choice of slights, you say the way the got rid of Phoenix was really gay? You do realize, with no bad feelings towards the series of course, that Ace Attorney was always really gay anyway? I mean come on, the amount of sexual tension between men (and once or twice between women) in AA as a whole is insurmountable. I think I love Ace Attorney in part for its gayness, so to speak. There's a certain charm to it.
@JMBoote1 No to mention whole game leaves gigantic hole in whole series plot.... why all characters from past games just got wipe out to level to level of forgetting there name like they been nothing importent, there no reference to them at all they just.... gone. "Seven Years Ago" looking on Phoenix age info happens year after Trials and Tribunals and that yea probably was more dramatic then whole case in this game that so many characters got forgotten.

He overshadowed the main character and Capcom forced the developers to include him in it so that it'd sell more. I think Phoenix needs to go somewhere (overseas, dammit anywhere but Apollo Justice 2 if we ever get a sequel). We need Apollo to get some character development, before he just fades away and is forgotten.
@JMBoote1 Well maybe at final case there to much Phoenix, but on 1st case he feel like Apollo mentor and 2 middle cases he is kind of gone, i can see Apollo development like he slowly understand his power and so on. Mason System part fells kind of odd, it's like Phoneix is godly being and magicly enlights Apollo and he knows everything without any reaction to that.

@ShadowriverUB Well, I don't mean completely get rid of him. Make him known, like Edgeworth in JFA/T+T. Just don't make the entire game about Phoenix, like the first Apollo Justice. And the final case is usually where the most development for the main character is. Since the final case of AJ has practically nothing to do with the poor lad, Apollo got nothing.

This game is freaking awesome like all the other Phoenix Wright games. But in this game lots-a connections and unbelievable truth! I finished the game and kinda cried at the end. I find Kristoph scary near the end. And Ema? GLIMMEROUS FOP! The girl's gonna snackoo you to death! PLAY THE GAME NAOZ!

Why is Phoenix and Iris not together ?
Where is Maya and Pearl Fey ?
Did Phoenix ever passed the bar exam after the whole forged evidence case was cleared up ?
Did Edgeworth knew what had happened to Wright during that 7 year period ? Since we know now that Gyakuten Kenji/Ace Attorney Investigations 2 ended right days before the case that costed Wright his badge.
All I can really hope from this series, is that Phoenix get's his job back, or he even becomes a Prosecutor. Apollo grows into an Attorney worthy of being compared to Phoenix. And we get to actually PROSECUTE as Edgeworth. He really only did Gumshoe's work for him in that game.
It is heavily implied that Phoenix goes to get his badge back at the end of the game. In his character outro thing he says he that he will probably try the bar exam to get his badge again.
I wonder when Capcom is gonna make another sequel to this game. It may be different than the original Phoenix Wright, but I'm glad that they incorporated him into the game. The end left us at a huge cliffhanger!!!
Haha remember watching this a while back before I'd played this game. I Had just finished T & T, saw this, saw the defendant and it hit me. And I just said *sigh* whats He gone and gotten himself into this time.
There's an online demo, but in my opinion, play the previos games first (Phoenix wright, Ace attorney - PW: Justice for all - PW: Trials and tribulations, in that order), it really does enhance the storyline of this game, and the storyline is outstanding.
Come to think of it, nobody has actually got the chance to grow with Apollo as we did with Phoenix, considering AA:AJ (Spooooooooileeers>>), in the end, mainly focused on Phoenix Wright losing his Job :/

I just found out the guy in the wool cap is Phoenix. Why isn't he a defense attorney anymore? I also found out that he's mentoring Apollo. So WhyTF is he on the witness stand? And that magician girl is Phoenix's daughter! This is all so confusing. I'm currently on Justice for All, and it's very confusing for me and kind of a bummer that I still need to play Trials and Tribulations before Apollo Justice just to get the story.
@n00berania Phoenix presented evidence which Kristoph Gavin had forged in order to A) win the case and later B) get rid of Phoenix. This led to his disbarrment. however at the end it's hinted that Phoenix might take the bar exam again, meaning he might be a lawyer by the time Apollo and Trucy find out they're half-siblings.
I like this game but it isnt as good as the Phoenix Wright ones. I dont know the stories didnt make you nervous or hold your to find out what happens next or feel shocked or anything I prefer it when you feel the same emotion as the charactres at that point if it makes sense??? :[
Thanks to everyone who gave me their opinions - I played it and it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting! I was kind of horrified by what they did to Phoenix's character, but overall it was a well-done game. I just thought Phoenix was too...un-Phoenix. :( Though they did a nice job with his "Hobo-hodo" look...yum.

Can anyone tell me if this game is worth playing? I'm almost tempted to try it, but I'm afraid it would totally ruin the original series for me (I feel it kinda crapped on the original canon). I realize it's going to be different, but...if it's not worth playing, I'm not going to bother.
On the other hand, I do love the music in the video. They did amazing with that and with the art as well.

I enjoyed it overall, though I do miss me my original cast. I don't like how they totally removed everyone else without so much as a whisper as to where they went. No offence but this game doesnt look as interesting as professor layton. But Im gonna try it and from the comments I'm sure its a good game.

Haha remember watching this a while back before I'd played this game. I Had just finished T & T, saw this, saw the defendant and it hit me. And I just said *sigh* whats He gone and gotten himself into this time.

There's an online demo, but in my opinion, play the previos games first (Phoenix wright, Ace attorney - PW: Justice for all - PW: Trials and tribulations, in that order), it really does enhance the storyline of this game, and the storyline is outstanding.

Come to think of it, nobody has actually got the chance to grow with Apollo as we did with Phoenix, considering AA:AJ (Spooooooooileeers>>), in the end, mainly focused on Phoenix Wright losing his Job :/

Ace Attorney Investigations 2 has been announced,
Professor Layton vs Ace attorney (With Phoenix wright! :D)
And the Ace attorney developers have said that the official AA5 will be on the 3DS, which releases early next year - i'm already excited...

I just found out the guy in the wool cap is Phoenix. Why isn't he a defense attorney anymore? I also found out that he's mentoring Apollo. So WhyTF is he on the witness stand? And that magician girl is Phoenix's daughter! This is all so confusing. I'm currently on Justice for All, and it's very confusing for me and kind of a bummer that I still need to play Trials and Tribulations before Apollo Justice just to get the story.

@n00berania Phoenix presented evidence which Kristoph Gavin had forged in order to A) win the case and later B) get rid of Phoenix. This led to his disbarrment. however at the end it's hinted that Phoenix might take the bar exam again, meaning he might be a lawyer by the time Apollo and Trucy find out they're half-siblings.

I like this game but it isnt as good as the Phoenix Wright ones. I dont know the stories didnt make you nervous or hold your to find out what happens next or feel shocked or anything I prefer it when you feel the same emotion as the charactres at that point if it makes sense??? :[

Thanks to everyone who gave me their opinions - I played it and it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting! I was kind of horrified by what they did to Phoenix's character, but overall it was a well-done game. I just thought Phoenix was too...un-Phoenix. :( Though they did a nice job with his "Hobo-hodo" look...yum.

this is probably my favorite series of games EVER the characters are great, teh storylines are top notch, and the turnabouts always shock me, i have yet to play apollo, but i know that phoenix wright is not a lawyer anymore, which makes me wonder what happened to maya and gumshoe and edgeworth and alot of other people someone help me out here?

Don't worry guys! You know how Capcom changed Mega Man in 7 & 8 and then changed him back to 8-bit because the fans wanted good ol' Megaman....well if we protest to Capcom on how they did with Mega Protest, maybe we can protest on Ace Attorney to change it back to Phoenix Wright!!! WHO'S WITH ME!!!!! *runs and gets a sign thats says "CHANGE IT BACK TO PHOENIX!!"*

Seriously, though. They would sell so many more games by changing it back to Phoenix. There's so many loose ends left behind. What happened to Maya, Pearl, Edgeworth, Franziska, Godot, and everyone else? Will Phoenix ever find love again? Just one of those answers would increase sales by 25%, at least.

Can anyone tell me if this game is worth playing? I'm almost tempted to try it, but I'm afraid it would totally ruin the original series for me (I feel it kinda crapped on the original canon). I realize it's going to be different, but...if it's not worth playing, I'm not going to bother.
On the other hand, I do love the music in the video. They did amazing with that and with the art as well.

@kusxmerel, thanks much! You guys all gave me a pretty helpful opinion. I ended up getting it, and it wasn't nearly as bad as I was thinking. I enjoyed it overall, though I do miss me my original cast. I don't like how they totally removed everyone else without so much as a whisper as to where they went. Answers like that and I would've enjoyed it more.

And in the all of these comments, Might I ask. Am I the only one who likes Apollo better then Phoenix? and I'm not biased either. Because I played all the Phoenix Wright games before Apollo. At first I thought that Apollo would disappoint me ; w; but.. in the end, I loved him and Trucy as a bunch. I think most of the hate they got.. was probably just because they were new and people weren't used to them. But if you give them time then ; w; Also, this trailer makes Kristoph look like a superhero.

Ace Attorney fans! Phoenix Wright creator Shu Takumi stated that if there is enough fan feedback, he'd personally fight to get Phoenix Wright in Marvel vs Capcom 3! MvC3's Ryota Niitsuma even stated that if there was enough fan feedback and Takumi asked him, he would include Wright, something Seth Killian also mentioned. Obviously in the Japanese trailer (unsubbed) it clearly says under the japanese name: Odoroki Housuke and a little after that he says: "Don't worry! I've been practicing my Objection! Looks like my days in court are about to begin!" And Trucy's name is really Minuki! How do you explain this contradiction?

OMG!!! This game is MAJOR EPIC!!! All the cases rocked!! And the fact that the fourth case had this connection with Phoenix himself just made me go wow!!!
