During her 16 years playing Alexandra (with only a few scattered years of absence here and there) Marj Dusay did some phenomenal work. Sadly, the writers and producers sometimes shortchanged her character's scripts and storylines in favour of promoting Alan or other, younger female wanna be divas whom they wanted to turn into "the next Alex". It never worked, because none of those girls could hold a candle to the one and only Dragon Lady. But when she had good scripts, Marj stole the show!
Marj was wonderful in this role, though some of her best scenes (fights with Alan, their prison dinner, their Thanksgiving dinner, her blackmailing Amanda out of Spaulding and some other moments where she really owned the screen, are absent from the montage. I wish it had highlighted more of her triumphs. Alan was losing that year long battle with her over Spaulding in 94-95 that dragged the whole town in, until he gained her pity).
I enjoy loved Dusay as Blair's mother on Facts of Life, but couldn't stand her as Alex. I didn't watch GL much after McKinsey left so had no idea until I watched your video what bizarre directions the writers took this character in - I think I'd have rather they killed Alex off than annihilate her character the way they appear to have done. BTW, I couldn't find your profiles on Nadine and Holly ...can you direct me? Also, will you be doing one on Vanessa?
@gazemagazine11 Thanks for watching the video! There is no profile out on Nadine or Holly... well, at least not yet, but that could change in the next few months... keep watching to find out! Vanessa would be a good one, and I have thought about it so it could happen eventually.
Hi, I'm sorry it took me so long to answer your question about the music. Here are the songs in order of when they were played in the video:a. Battle Los Angeles – Brian Tyler – Battle: Los Angeles. Doomsday Scenario – Kerry Muzzey – Trailer Music 2. Your Destiny Is Coming – Epic Score – Epic Action & Adventure, Vol. 1. Bring Me To Life – Evanescence. The Way You Look Tonight – Frank Sinatra
The ex-wives club was a clever idea. I wish they had played it longer. The only good thing about the Pharmaceutical story was that it gave Danny's 5th street project a boost. I really loved the Alex-Cyrus-Marina story. It was the last time Marina was interesting and they didn't play it nearly as long as they should have. One of my favorite shots after Alan's death was Alex caressing his chair. Love when she has her glasses on she can play w/ glasses better than anybody. Great Carmen Santos scene
Roger: "I'd take hell any day. It's got to beat marriage to you [Alex]!" I liked Alex & Fletcher except I after he broke my heart by walking out on Claire I couldn't trust him again & with good reason. He never really committed to being more than friends with benefits. I hope now that they are endgame, he's finally stepped up. I never saw the point in the Amanda parentage re-reveal.Other than proving once again what a monster Brandon was, nothing really changed.

Great video but Marj Dusay's Alex was never as complicated and compelling as McKinsey's Alex.
