You keep on what your doing. Im about to be a freshman and Im trying to make a last minute decision btwn Hampton U and Benedict (which was originally the plantation where my family was owned). This vid really helps in that decision so thanks. It also helps erase all doubts I had about whether or not this country is ready for a black president.
Before I saw this in January 08, I was unsure if I was "political" enough to volunteer for a campaign. Like Josh, I'm just a young person who was previously apathetic. But after watching Josh & his friends give their time & energy, I felt like I should do something too.
I just wanted to say thanks. This video inspired me to "Roll up my sleeves and get to workin." After almost 4 months campaigning, and I am 100% certian that Obama inspires young people the way no politician has in decades.
Joshua's story is an amazing testimony and if you think that's something...Joshua will be attending HARVARD LAW SCHOOL on a FULL SCHOLARSHIP in the fall of 2008!
Thank you Josh for sharing your story with us. This is so inspiring and uplifting. This is what the campaign is all about. "WE THE PEOPLE" We can make the difference and remember what Senator Obama has always said. WE ARE WHAT WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR" and if we work hard and support Senator Obama for President of these United States we can make this a better world for ALL of us.
Great story! Don't give the credit to a magical being in the sky though Joshua, this is YOUR doing, you pulled yourself up and YOU chose to strive for change.
Wow. I feel and share your love of Senator Obama. Beautiful video. I wish all the doubters and lovehaters could see this little gem with an open heart. Obama '08!
This is so telling. I wish the MSM would watch this so they could understand what we understand about Barack! Keep up the great work. WOW! you mt Obama!!!
Is Stroman short for STRONG MAN? It takes a really strong man to overcome the types of obstacles you have overcome. I know you will accomplish your life-long goals. You will pull into the driveway of your home to witness your children playing. Just keep doing what you're doing and you will prevail. Thank You! May God Bless You and keep you.
Thank you Joshua, this is an inspiring video. You could have taken a different path, but through God's grace, you are on the right path to success. God Bless you and Barack Obama!
Josh is awesome. I was really inspired by this whole video. I was a Clinton supporter, but Barack got my vote here in CA last night. But it wasn't till today that I saw this video. I obviously made the right decision...
This should be required viewing in every middle/high school in this country. Joshua is a wonderful role model for all young people. This is such a moving story. Now, will someone please bring me a tissue!
Such an inspirational video. I'm putting it up on my blog now. There is nothing more important to me than helping to bash negative stereotypes. My husband is a proud, intelligent, hard working African American man, and I can't wait to show him this when he gets home from work. WAY to go, JOSHUA and all of the other Joshuas out there! OBAMA 08!
"Roll up your sleeves and get to workin'!" Hit it right on the head there, my friend. It's time for change. It's time for us to lift ourselves up from the struggles we're currently in and turn the tides here in America. The work you're doing in your community and at your school are truly inspiring to me and we can all relate to your story... and the result is the same - we rise above; we change. Keep the faith, keep believing, and keep up the good work, Joshua! God Bless!
You guys don't forget to spread this video around. Post it on your facebook profile, make sure your friends see it. It is absolutely beautiful. I have watched it three times and it moves me every time.
Josh, amazing video making me laugh and cry during the course of watching. I feel such hope seeing your determination and your aunts persistance. You have such a bright future ahead of you possessing the quality to inspire many towards bettering themselves and serving others. They say that Hillary is more supported by older white women, NOT SO! I supported Barack Obama before many people knew his name. O-B-A-M-A! :)
Wish you and Obama could have brought this message to Long Beach, California~we had 5 gang related murders in 27 days. For Joshua: believe in who you are, you are a shining star.
As an old white guy from a red-neck state... Joshua, this country needs you. We need your mind, your perspective, your vision and your drive. We can no longer afford to discard vital ideas because of skin color. We can no longer afford to treat our inner-city kids as disposable. We can no longer afford to be Lincoln's house divided against itself.
Thank you, Senator Obama, for your audacity.
And thank you, Joshua, for having a little faith in your country - and in yourself.
Joshua, you give me hope for this generation. Thank you! You ARE the man! Yor're one smart dude. That speech you gave on Channel 7--you're a natural. I hope your dream comes true...I know it will. We're all proud of you. You make us proud.
Josh man what an awesome young man you have become. I am right there with you, same situation. Way to rise above the past and grow from it!! Keep at it!!
That is one beautiful video. The end was especially powerful, when Josh started talking to the reporters like it was the most natural thing in the world. That was brilliant.
People are ready to believe in their leaders again, to be inspired, and to act on that inspiration, and Obama has plugged in to that hope and desire.
This kid is already a powerful young man! Senator Obama, and Joshua brings tears to my eyes! They are both so very inspiring, and they bring so much hope, and faith to myself, and many other people!Thank you Senator Obama, and thank you Joshua!I've been blessed to hear, see, and feel you! Great stuff!!
I am very proud of this black young man who has shown that young blacks in this country are smart, articulate and aspire to educate themselves. I am proud that Joshua has a dinamic leader such Senator Obama to emulate!
Thanks so much for sharing your video with us. You have a good head on your shoulders. GO OBAMA!
Just one though comment, though. What if you had a daughter? Would you not be happy if SHE and not sons came running to hug you as you're coming home from work?
If he had a daughter i'm sure he would feel just as happy. That's just his dream of having sons run up to him. He's seems like the type of guy that would appreciate whatever God chooses to give him in life.
It feels good to know that there are still a few young people out there that are aware of the problems that still face us today, especially today, when there is such a high percentage of teenage pregnancies. I'm not Black, but I'm Asian, these are HUMAN issues, problems that affect us all.
Talk about a moving video...I also want to know the song...it was really cool. HQ should put that song online, I'll tell you it'll be on every ipod in US in seconds, not to mention all the ringtones.
Josh, I am moved and touch by your video. It's people like you that make the difference in this campaign. I dare say, people will vote for Obama because of your commitment to the cause and your contagious believe in Senator Obama. You've definitely contributed your fair share in this campaign. Whatever happens, I believe you have a bright future, I dare say a US Senator one day. God Bless. Go Obama!
Josh: great, inspiring story! You are a wonderfully articulate and intelligent young man! Regardless of the winner of '08, I am confident that you will do well in life, as long as you keep hope.
This is a wonderful video. It's nice to see a campaign video that so encapsulates the effect Obama has on his supporters without much direct Obama footage. Kudos.
