Subaru and Audi have the best AWD systems in the world. By the way, Subaru differential woks almost like this, but subaru system just transfers power to the other side, or other wheel, if the wheel is spinning, doesn't it?
@SangueVerde7 Subaru's awd isnt exactly the same as Audi's.
Subaru uses a viscous center diff. The end result is nearly the same tho. Only thing with a viscous coupling is that it has a small amount of "lag" before it kicks in since the fluid in the diff have to heat up. While Audi's quattro is fully mechanical, and more seamless.
Wrong !! The center diff of an STI is a planetary diff like the one of Audi. But Subaru adds a locking ration capability ... more sophisticated than the Audi one. Subaru front: helical diff, back: torsen (less sophisticated than the active yaw controller - AYC - than the Mitsubishi one). Audi uses as well torque vectoring: brake the inner wheel before spinning, giving more torque to the outside wheel (more sophisticated than Sub, less than Mitsu). Audi = safe, Sub & Mitsu = dynamicity
@rozzan007 Wrong!! Quattro with sport diff (which this video is talking about) uses ZFs "Vector drive", which is a slightly more advanced version of Hondas SH-AWD. Where, motive force is multiplied to the corresponding rear wheel by a planetary gearset and multi-disc clutch-pack on each side of the rear diff. Computer actuates stepper-motors to "lock" the clutches when more drive is needed. Not the old EBD/EDL system you described.
I've tried the system of Audi ! This is a really good one. But still I can confirm that it's still oriented for security, even if dynamic is a bit more in focus. I own a Subaru and a Mitsu. These are something else ... I have a big respect of Audi engineering, but they should do their car lighter and a bit less of sophistication. Then they would be enjoyable in every day driving. Cheers.
audi is good. i wish they would make the quattro again. what a car

If i steer right with this cat , the right wheel looses power by that clutch and the left one gets more from that little electric engine ?

Amazing. And I got it straight away.... even more amazing. I guess it might not work in a rear-drive only car, as oversteer might be a bit much.
