As much as I didn't like Hikaru that much and should be saying good riddance to her, this scene alone made me feel really sorry for her after the way Kyosuke kept pushing her away
The most telling scene was when Kyosuke was at the konbini drinking coffee and the rain falls. He gaze at the row of umbrellas and thinks about helping Hikaru in the rain. But he realizes he can't because that gives Hikaru the opening to get back with him. BTW, Kanako Wada's sad song is very fitting with this scene.
On the more humorous side...see the KOR OVA episode "Hurricane Akane" where "Kyosuke" (Akane posing as Kyosuke in an illusion) dumping Hikaru was played for laughs.
Well I prefer the manga version, 'cause there Kyosuke acts as He is, and he never dump Hikaru, he doesn't even know that she is the one calling from the phone in front of He's house, there's where She figures out all, in a the saddest page in the manga. The only thing i liked more in the anime is when Hikaru kiss Kyosuke first Time I saw It I had the hope that He was going to choose Her instead of Madoka.
Hikaru is treated really badly, its depressing, Kyosuke could at least have treated her more gently and softened his body language. Thats the reason I remember this scene from the movie since it stands out when you are feeling depressed yourself. I liked the movie in some ways, but the breakup was abit too cruel in my view and out of tone with the TV series, left a bitter taste in my mouth, the Kyosuke from the TV series would have dealt with the situation better somehow.
I agree, it was tough and rough. Anyway I think that:
1 - The movie someway HAD to be cruel and "adult", it was what people expected from the couple growing and aging during the college preparation period (not to mention the thought of the soon to be life together)
2 - Hikaru is... well... a bit stupid and childish both in the manga and the anime: using soft manners would probably lead to an eternal struggle to have Kyosuke back.
Wow, what a scene. The show was so lighthearted and fun, I never guessed it was going to become so intense at the end. I maybe expected Hikaru to find another crush, Kyosuke and Madoka to have a real relationship but then have short-term problems to worry about... predictable stuff. But this was much better.
@Billyboy1988 He treated her roughly, but he had to. She would see any affection as a chance for her to still win him over. He needed to be harsh, for her long term benefit.
@Billyboy1988 The whole thing breaking down as it did was really Madoka's fault. What Kyosuke really wanted was both of them, and I think that Hikaru would have been cool with that. It was Madoka that forced the situation to change.
I love this anime/manga. This goodbye is quite terrible, for both Hikaru and Kyosuke. But the saddest scene for me is the one when Hikaru is waiting for him and he tries to ignore her, he tells her to drop it and she starts crying... first time I saw it I also cried...
I felt bad for Hikaru in the movie but not in the manga, i hated her manga version so much. Kyosuke wasnt didnt confront, rejected, and ignore her in the manga; he was a true two-timer in that version.
WHERE CAN I WATCH THIS I HAVE LOOKED EVERYWHERE FOR THE FULL MOVIE -.-

It's just my opinion.

I agree, the manga was so much different, compared to the anime the love triangle can barely be percieved.
And I prefer the anime version either! ;)
