"Casual" are the people who feel entitled to everything in the game because they pay 15 dollars a month but they don't want to put time into it. They basically expect the game to play for them. @arsonist2015 I disagree. Story can be nearly everything, trust me. :) Maybe Bioware doesnt have any MMO experience but Blizzard didnt have any as well in 2004, yet their game was successful. Bioware has been delivering top games to the players for more than a decade. All their games were super popular and loved by the community so I trust them. I am sure that SWTOR is going to give the peope what they want - high level, very enjoyable gameplay. We (the players) dont need revolutions.

@arsonist2015 the thing about it is, how much "mmo experience" did blizzard have when they made WoW? also, the story is the main point for this, it keeps it from being like WoW, or Rift, or Aion, because in those games, its the player base that matters, because at the end of the day your still collecting gizzards for old man haddage back at the camp, so in that respect, WoW wins hands down. but in this, it adds so much more in depth imersion with the dialoge and story. i feel it will befarbetter

0:58 Once you hit lvl 50 you can immediately go into entry lvl raids... This is the greatest announcement I have heard in a while. DCUO has this problem still as you can't take a fresh lvl 30 into a raid. Also WoW and I can imagine Rift have this same issue as you can't take a fresh lvl 85 into a raid. I can also bet that gw2 isn't thinking of this cause nobody here cares about that game anyway :-D

So 2 factions, pvp ranks, pvp gear. In other words long queues, huge curve/grind for new players, and skill isn't necessary as gear wins the day. Sounds familiar, and shit. Don't these designers ever learn from other games mistakes? Saying that, this was always going to be a PvE game with PvP tacked on, would be nice to see some innovation for a change though.

DCUO and WoW you are basically required to have PvP gear to even survive let alone kick people's asses. Not trying to be a dick but you have to see it from that point of view for sure before you say that it isn't skill and gear wins the day cause he said the exact opposite in the video...

@Partyanimal127 Yes mate, I heard, I also heard the same shit from Trion, who use a similar PvP model. PvP ranks and gear = imbalances for the sake of adding a long grind to PvP. Not that it matters, like I said, this is a PvE game, the only reason they have included a token gesture towards PvP is because it's too popular in MMOs to ignore.

WAR may not been a great game overall, but one of the things it really did well that alot of people enjoyed was the PVP aspect. Trust PVP is not a afterthought. They even have Open World PVP Lakes with Objectives similar to WAR. They said they are going to talk about them at PAX

@Gthang213 Yeah, and look how that turned out. This model is the exact same as Rift's, go look at their PvP forum to see how well it works. The grind to R6 is so long new people simply quit, which is why PvP is seen as a niche in MMOs, because of the developers trying to add a long grind to it, newer players get fucked and stop playing, so it stagnates. At least WoW has the decency to keep the gear grind to a minimum. Unless they keep the ranks small, their PvP will go the same way Rift did.

@ilovestarwberrys I certainly am, but why include ranks for PvP if you are going to keep them short? WoW's PvP grind is a short one, so you only stay UP for a short time, whereas Rift's is stupidly long. TOR will likely be somewhere imbetween, but why bother? People don't quit PvP once they are geared, they carry on, there is no need to fear PvPers leaving because there is nothing to chase. Plus gear imbalances make it hard to judge real class imbalances, so forum whining will be bad as well

@Gthang213 It's worth pointing out I enjoyed both WAR and Rift's PvP, but only early on when leveling. Endgame was awful in both games, too many balancing issues, and far too many gear issues. Being a lead designer for a failed PvP game is a reason to be cautious, not optimistic. But like I said, this has PvP because many will want it, it is still primarily a PvE game, same as Rift and WoW. I would have preferred Bioware to have a go themselves rather than hire someone with a dubious record.

AS I said earlier reason WAR failed was not because how bad the PVP was, it was just very very imbalanced, as well as other development issues. But majority people agree that WAR has had one of the Best PVP systems in recent MMOs.

I am a big Bioware fan myself but They have no Experience with PVP which is why they went with people from Mythic

You can challenge someone on your faction to a Dual on you Character's origin world (whether that will continue on other planets beyond the origin world is unknown). There will also be Open World PVP Lakes on PVE servers with Objectives similar to how it was in WAR. They said they will talk more about that at PAX

@cirk2 Yeah, Gabe's description sounds like the UT ball game(bombing run?). A glowy ball would spawn in the middle of an complex outdoor map. You try to get the ball, take it down field and shoot it through your opponents goal using your ball gun without getting fragged by the other team. Except I guess instead of shooting each other with rocket launchers now you can hack away with lightsabers. So this pvp game actually sounds a lot like something else. Something I played a long time ago.
